  • This is one of Budapest’s Most Moving Memorials: Shoes on The Danube. Sculptors Gyula Pauer and Can Togay created a moving memorial that sits on the edge of the Danube river. Visitors will see 60 pairs of rusted period shoes cast out of iron. Different sizes and styles reflect how nobody was spared by the Arrow Cross party.

My goodness, what thought provoking memorial. Thank you for presenting the video in this way, the more we learn, the more likely people are to put the damn selfie stick away, and respect these places for their true intention.

Thank you Scott for sharing one of our nations most horrifying truth. People must know what has happened and never to decline the facts. 8000 jews were killed by the Danube, the rest of them were everyone else who were not worthyful for the system: homosexuals, kids, handicapped, gypsies and the list goes on. As a proud Hungarian I am feeling the deepest shame of what had happened, and what is happening at recent days.

Thank you Scott for sharing our heartbreaking history. Those times were dark in the whole world and maybe (if anyone could say that) even worst for Eastern Europe... I am glad that you made the effort and research it and telling this now to everyone!

Many in my family were murdered by the Nazis, I always wonder if anyone in my family was murdered this way, as my Fathers family lived in Budapest.

there are three big cast iron signs there telling you about the Sculptor....so I don't understand why you say people don't really know what they are looking at
