» THE GOLDEN TEMPLE
LOCATION: Golden Temple Rd, Atta Mandi, Katra Ahluwalia, Amritsar
OPEN: 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
The Golden Temple is a Gurdwara, a place of worship for Sikhs, located in the city of Amritsar, Punjab, India. The Golden Temple is the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism and considered to be spiritually the most significant shrine in Sikhism. Along with being a central religious place for Sikhs, it is a symbol of human brotherhood and equality, as people from all faiths, as well as those who do not profess any faith, are welcomed.
The Golden Temple is home to a Langar, a community-run free kitchen and dining hall where food is served around the clock to all visitors, regardless of faith, gender, nationality or economic background. There are thousands of Sikh volunteers cooking and serving the food as well as cleaning after visitors finish eating. Each day, thousands of people from varied backgrounds come to The Golden Temple, sit on the floor and eat together as equals. All of the food served is vegetarian.

🥒ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. People either enjoyed my undeniable charm or enjoyed watching me eat things like coconut worms, and thus Best Ever Food Review Show came to be.
I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer. If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.
Don’t forget to subscribe to Best Ever Food Review Show, so we can connect through food and travel and become Bestys!

Im sincerely curious why you would leave such a wonderful place? I have no ill feelings towards immigration. America was built on immigration. Alot of today's immigrants to America are not coming with good intentions. You are probably not one of the bad one's if you came here legally and with good intentions. Our current administration cheated their way into power and has abused their authority. We got corrupt Republicans to. They are just as bad as today's administration. American citizens born and raised here not living of government or have gotten the freebies because they couldn't check any boxes are very concerned for our future. Out of respect for my country. As a Christian I honestly believe all Christians could learn from their religion. That's what you call loving your neighbor. You have all my respect.
And the best part is they don't insist anyone to convert. They do that selflessly at any part of the world
As a Christian I am doing my part, if you are not a proper Christian, then you have to learn or change
Speaking as a Christian, the problem with some Christians is they don't live what they say they believe in. Especially western societies, where most people live in relative comfort and affluence. These Christians want God's blessing but refuse to become a blessing to others, which God has called them to be. And these Christians are Christians only in name, their lives don't reflect Christ. Very sad. It seems the trend is the richer one is, the harder it is to be charitable and share some of one's wealth. Christians are call to help the poor, the widows, and be compassionate. but some Christians don't do it. They just want to hoard God's blessings. Even if one is not able to help financially, one can help with their time, I don't believe most of the Sikhs in this video are rich, but they donate something even more precious, time. they don't have extra money to donate so they donate their time to help other. They are many places one can help if one has the heart to help, for example, food pantry, soup kitchen. there is always something one can get. And one can pray for those who need help.

There’s a sizable Sikh community in Kenya and growing up, all the Sikh owned businesses would give out free food/money on fridays to anyone who needed it. It didn’t matter what religion you came from, if you needed food, there’d always give you some. Honestly some of the best human beings I’ve ever met.
Wow, where in Kenya? I didn't meet any Sikh people there and I've been twice. I really loved the interfaith vibe though, and everyone was welcoming and friendly no matter what religion. I saw Mosques, Churches, Temples....
TriciawiththeTRUTH There aren’t that many so maybe that’s why. Plus they are so unproblematic. There’s at least half a dozen Sikh temples in Nairobi alone. There’s one on Mombasa road and another one on Thika road. They operate a lot of businesses in the textile/clothing industry ( school uniforms, clothing materials etc ) Guru Nanak Hospital was founded by the Kenyan Sikh community.
@@TriciawiththeTRUTH because most sikhs left kenya in the 1970s theres not many left
All the positivity in the comments made me feel proud to be a part of Sikh religion. God bless everyone

I am a Muslim but I absolutely love what Sikhs are doing in the community. Not just in this temple, but everywhere in the world.
This is what humanity is about. If you’re a human, you are welcome to their temple. Just wonderful.

A kirpan isn’t to be feared. Only used in self defense. A kirpan is earned and not just a knife. The kirpan is used for ceremonies as well.
Another note, Sonny you have earned a lot of respect from me as a Sikh and who wears his turban proudly. The Golden Temple is such a powerful place. Haven’t been back since we got married on 2005. I hope you go back! You look good in a turban!
This is so moving, I've watched it twice now and cried both times, the compassion is incredible!
"You are all are human beings."

As a South Indian, I have lot of respect and affection for sikhs, for their contribution to the India and for their values. In fact I keep it a point to discourage sardarji jokes.
Sikh men are so charming tho ☺️

I like how there isn't even a table. Everybody just sits criss cross applesauce and eats together. Very humble and wholesome
Awesome video as always and genuinely one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life. All these people volunteering to work selflessly and cooperate in such a sophisticated way, "simply" to feed others is really touching.
It’s free and no limitations on the amount you can eat. I enjoyed watching this

hey there its not free, you need to pay with love and respect,
and yes there are limitations, don't eat more than what your stomach can allow otherwise journey back home wont be a easy ride,
also be aware that the food will keep pouring onto your plate if you wont ask them not to refill...
