I am working on my first swap. Not my first engine tho. Ls3/4L80 in a 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I thought about a 5 OH swap but it is crazy expensive. Friggin $1800 plus just for the cams. I'm going to do a 5 OH swap in my next Vic. The only reason I am doing a Ls3 instead of a 6 OH or 5.3 is I found I found the block for $500 and a set of low milage 821 heads for $300. How much are you asking for the harness?
Depends on the budget and goals. For a low budget project that’ll go bottom 5s I absolutely recommend it. It’s a fantastic setup to learn on without spending a lot and you can still go pretty fast with the right setup
if you sleeve a gen 3 block and get a boss crank with the rods you have you can make upwards of 2k HP. i think that was brett lasala's setup for a while. you can run stock gen 2 or 3 cams and make a ton of power. Lots of people run the comp stage 3 NA cams when they upgrade. even when boosting the engine.
Was going to say if you dont do coyote go 4v teksid, theyre super cheap and underappreciated and can make a ton of power, look up joey salas new edge he races FL N/T with a 4.6 teksid setup in street car trim vs full blow race cars. To my understanding people usually go gen 3 bottom end with gen 2 or 1 heads. If you're going to build a bottom end look up the predator block , its cheap and thats what fast forward racing uses in the snot rocket, they just resleeve it.
As much as I love the LS stuff, Ive definitely considered moving to a coyote as well....guys are absolutely flying with those things! But i just had a pretty bossy powerglide built with a fixed chevy bell, so im stuck for a while....excited to see what you do with it. Just peaking through the parts you got for sale on Facebook....do you still have the dual rail high ram around? And if you end up not selling the LS harness I might be interested in that too.....
All gen 1 engines (F150&Mustang) have the same firing order. Ford did Ford things and changed the firing order on gen 2 and up F150. Gen 1 and 2 cams and timing phasers are different physically. Plus the cam timing range is a little different. I’m building my first Coyote and good info is kinda hard to find. Edited to add: Gen 2 heads are best budget wise. Then you get into what you have on the bench. GT350, SCJ, Predator in no particular order.
@@OverydeMotorsports not in person running the DI side of the fuel system but I’ve never looked into it honestly. I forgot to add that gen 1 primary timing chains are the strongest. So most people run gen 1 cams. Then people buy aftermarket locked phasers to run (I think 5.4) secondary chains.
@@OverydeMotorsports yeah people are running Holley. You need the higher end models to used both factory wide bands. Plus you get all the I/Os. Maybe I suck at researching now or people are keeping it close to their chest. 🤷🏻♂️

Good luck in your changeover. Unfortunately I am bound to part ways due to brand loyalty. JK I can't watch anymore because I hate watching folks burn up money.
I will stay tuned. I'm trying to quit trolling but going to coyote folks make me fall off the wagon. You were a fine rep for the LS brand and you are always welcome back. 😮 @@OverydeMotorsports

Thanks man!

The harness just hooks ro which ever Hlloey? I am thinking of running the Terminator max.
@@GrandPitoVic yessir terminator x hp or dominator
I would get gen2 heads and forget the vct controller just lock the cams with aftermarket ecu.
Kinda my plan now. Seems like wasted time otherwise haha
@OverydeMotorsports what coil brackets are on the 5.3?
Motion relocation brackets with threaded bungs welded on the valve cover
@@OverydeMotorsports okay thank you

Interesting! I got steel rods for now but we will see how fast we can go! Sleeving the block. Undecided on heads so far
I knew it! Going dry or wet sump?
Wet sump still
Can't wait to see the new setup perform next season! How fast can coyote motors reliably spin, will it still shift around 8,000?
9000 haha
Nice to see a LS to Coyote!

Gonna rip this gen 3 block for now. I’ll sleeve it myself and if all goes well I’ll definitely be doing more

You don’t want Gen 3 heads because of the Direct Injection system. Gen 2 is the easiest choice. Gen 1 are good too.
I can block all that off I just don’t know about getting cam signal
