Creality CR-6 MAX Unboxing & First Thoughts!

  • The Creality CR-6 MAX is the (much) bigger brother to the CR-6 SE that was part of the record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. ECOstruder unboxes the CR-6 MAX with its huge 400 x 400 x 400mm build volume before it is available to buy. So will it live up to all of the crazy hype? Or is it just an oversized mess?

    Your tip about the loose screw check saved me from having to send the whole thing back. Thank you. During the auto bed level procedure, the Z axis test sounded like a box of rocks and it wasn’t moving. I went over the belts, any obstructions, nothing helped. I found that one screw was so bad it was wedging on the motor spindle, locking it in place. So, after tightening all of the screws it’s working. Subbed for that precious advice alone. Thanks.

      Fantastic! I'm glad the video was helpful, and I hope you love your 6-Max. Mine is still running strong, though I have made some modifications to it (I'm using the Bondtech LGX Lite Arrow printhead on it now and it's amazing). Happy printing!

    I believe most touch screens have their own firmware. It's actually a good thing if you want to customize it independently of the main board.
    Nice thing about the Creality Z support rods, you can buy them separately and put them relatively easily on other machines as long as they have about the same gantry height.

    Looks awesome! I have been loving the heck out of my CR-6SE. No doubt the max provides an awesome printing experience, as well.

    PSA for Brandon. He sold me my CR 10 V3. It’s my first printer ever and he has been tremendously helpful and patient with a noob. Thanks dude for all your input!

      Hahaha, no, the beard just shares my name. We are one. It is definitely (over)due for a taming, though. Just can't get anyone to touch it during COVID and I'm not brave enough to go at it with scissors myself!

    You'd be surprised on how accurate those little switches are. I work on million dollar machines for a living and inside the siemens limit switches are very similar if not the same style mechanical switches.
    There are no Y axis gantries. They are linear guides.

    • @ecostruder
      @ecostruder  2 года назад

      Good to know! I just know that we've had issues with it always resuming at the exact same point when using limit switches. Perhaps there's a difference in the quality of cheap limit switches versus the nice industrial ones you've had experience with.

    I just got mine and was worried how load the fan near the display are. Is that normal. Its really annoying and way above acceptable. Any thoughts about that?

    • @ecostruder
      @ecostruder  8 месяцев назад

      The CR-6 Max is very quiet. So if your fan is loud and annoying then yes, I'd be concerned about what's going on with that. Maybe it's something simple like just some dust or a wisp of hot glue stuck in the fan bearings, or maybe there's something causing it to spin out of balance. Probably worth checking out though. Even a full replacement fan is quite cheap if that's determined to be necessary.

      @@ecostruder Good vids by the way. I'm new to 3d printing. Been giving the CR-6 Max the most attention. I will probably get one soon. As for the files. What software can I use to create my own 3d models?

    • @ecostruder
      @ecostruder  2 года назад

      @@ShitBrick785 There's quite a range of CAD software out there for both hobbyists and professionals--each with their own pros and cons. I used a few of them before settling on Autodesk's Fusion360. I'm pretty happy with that particular software, though it certainly has its quirks. Good luck with whatever you decide to use!

      We've been doing quite a few test prints on the CR-6 Max. In fact, the very first print we did was a 86 hour print of Moon City 2.0 using the standard settings in Simplify3D. No tweaking of the machine or the slicing profile at all. It's a gorgeous print.

    Is it neccessary to check the voltage setting on the MAX? ie 110v or 230v? Because I did not find a red button toggle between the two.

    • @ecostruder
      @ecostruder  3 года назад +1

      Great question! This is one of the most common issues my customers have had with Creality machines. They come with power supplies that are compatible with both 115V and 230V systems. However, the CR-6 Max did not require me to slide that little red switch like the CR-6 SE does. Interesting difference between the two models!

    hello, how to e-step calibration for cr-6 max?

    • @ecostruder
      @ecostruder  2 года назад

      My suggestion is to flash to community firmware and use the touchscreen menu options to perform an esteps calibration from there. But, if you want to stick with the Creality firmware then you'll need to connect the printer to a computer via USB and send gcode commands via a terminal program. Many slicers have a terminal built-in, or you can use something like Pronterface instead. I hope that helps!
