The Kits now include linear scales and a DRO display! Disregard those portions of the video. The installation is still the same.
This is the best solution I've seen so far for the South Bend 9x48 lathe!
By far the best solution for adding a DRO kit that I have seen yet.

Thank you for your comment! I am currently working on making more of these (as of right now I have 4 sets ready) and will be posting them on eBay shortly. I am still trying to figure a few things out as each kit takes a long time to make but once they are ready, I will have a link in the video description. I go by "engineer3dwestc" on eBay.

@@alaingagnon9238 Yes it is! The original kit has been in use for almost a year with no problems. It makes things a lot quicker and more accurate. I decided not to include the scales and display because I didn't want to warehouse them. I have enough stuff already :)

nice kit, but doesn't look like it will work if you have the taper attachment. Then I would be interested in one!

I am not sure if it will fit or not as I do not have access to one. From the images I can see online, I think you'd have to do some of your own tinkering to get it to work. I know for sure this kit doesn't work with a follow rest, but I have no way to check the fit with a taper attachment.

how can order the kit? do the generic (Amazon/Ebay) scale fit the mounts?

There is a link in the video description that will take you to my eBay page or you can search "engineer3dwestc" on eBay. I am not sure if the generic linear scales will work. The kit now comes with all the linear scales and DRO because VEVOR stopped selling them so I had to source other scales that would work.

A lathe only cuts along the X and Z axes, if you had done any work programming CNC machine tools you would know that.

Thank you for your comment. I have spent exactly 0 hours programming CNC machine tools (I use a lathe made during WW2....) and have not really investigated which axis pointed which direction before. Didn't really matter much when I was the one moving everything haha! I have changed the eBay listings after looking into it but unfortunately cannot change what the video says. It shall forever remain incorrect. I will keep that information in mind for future videos (like the one coming out for the taper attachment kit).

Thank you for the comment. I figured having some background music was better than having silence for almost 50 minutes. I am sorry you do not feel the same. You can always mute the video as I said in the description. After about 15 minutes it gets pretty irritating. Everything is in the video and there is no commentary so you will not miss anything muting the video.
