I literally watched this movie based on your excitement for the trailer alone and I loved it. I cried laughing out of pure enjoyment multiple times and I was the only person in my theater. Can't wait to watch it again.
I would like to recommend you few movies from India. '3 Idiots', 'Bahubali 1 & 2' (same director of RRR), and 'KGF'. which are few of the best movies in the past decade.
You should also watch a movie called 'eega', Same director, it is a housefly revenge drama. It's a fun watch, maybe watch the trailer first and decide.
I forgot to mention this: The British did a number of atrocities that are actually Nazi level in India, sadly it's often unknown in the west. You should really watch *Sardar Udham* , it's one of the highest rated 2021 movie and it's about the assassination by an Indian revolutionary of the British governor who ordered the Amritsar massacre in 1919.
Yeah, this "oh, people with British accents are doing bad stuff in movies" was... certainly a take, lol. This country colonized half the world and committed many more atrocities (though not per unit time) than even the Nazis. Edit: oh, now they're whining about "woke-ism", lol. Their historical understanding has been put in a slightly larger context here, unfortunately.

Why the hell the makers give these films to Bollywood producers and distribution houses? Rightfully, Salman Khan had pointed out that Karan Johar has been profiting on big budget milestone movies from South Indian films. They are going to distribute majority of Hindi versions overseas. Original native prints will only be available at few selected theatres which is sad. Only few Telugu speaking audience will be able to travel to such theatres for their language. Rest of all the people are served with Hindi versions. Even normal foreign audience thinks this is a Hindi film which hugely takes away the credibility of Telugu language.
After Chris Gore going on and on and on … and on about this movie, I finally watched it. Not in theaters in my small city, I watched it on Netflix. I wasn’t disappointed. It was incredible. I didn’t have a lot of time, so I watched it in two sittings, but now I can’t wait to see it again. Thanks for the recommendation, Chris.
@@aakashSky-0 I live in Southern Utah. We only have two movie theaters now, the rest closed. Kind of sucks, I would love to see this on the big screen.
The thing is Marvel does similar movies but in recent movies they ruined the action scenes by adding in jokes that take away all the seriousness. Like if it's a movie you're supposed to feel many kinds of emotions and not just laugh for the entirety of it. That's what I think was missing due to MCU dominance but later Tom Cruise's Tommy Gun Maverick didn't have such scenes so it became a blockbuster and some people saw RRR and it blew up and it doesn't have such scenes either.
Such a wonderful film. I'm so glad Film Threat hyped it up. I've rarely seen a film with this much enthusiasm for its story and characters. Pure entertainment.
Just say regions...current Indian states are a modern creation based on language after finally getting independence from all the invaders. Before that people who used to speak different languages live in same streets and as neighbours as well.
I'm new to Indian cinema, I've pretty much only known about Mira Nair and Tarsem Singh movies. This was a pretty damn good way to understanding more about native Indian cinema. I looked up the term "Masala movie" in wikipedia recently and I think it applies, just throw everything you can think of in a movie no matter how jarring any tonal shifts might seem to our sensibilities. This is like 7 or 8 movies in one, kinda like Cloud Atlas or Glory to the Filmmaker.
Yeah. Also I gotta say the other impression I got was just how passionate and courteous Indians were in my Twitter notifications. I got a like and retweet from the official account of the movie and the freakin' DP himself. Holy crap I didn't deserve such an honor but I'm grateful I got it.
fun fact: there is more than one industry in India. Bollywood: Hindi language(most in the west are familiar to this) Tollywood: Telugu language (RRR,Bahubali and some of the highest indian grossers belong to this industry) Kollywood: Tamil language Mollywood: Malayalam language Sandalwood: Kannada language All these are very huge industries in india since each of them have very high viewership since most of the languages that I have mentioned here have around 100 million native speakers. And also, this type of over the top action in movies is very common in india.

I went to see this tonight because Chris wouldn't stop talking about it during his review for Batman. I so rarely get to walk out of a theater with a smile on my face. This one had me grinning from ear to ear. Not to mention I felt physically exhausted by the end of the movie. Oh, and you can't leave just as the end-credits are starting because many of the film's resolutions happen during the end-credits, including two of the main plot points of the film. And I loved how for the interval it said "inteRRRval" on the screen. Hee hee. Thank goodness I peed before the movie and did not buy a soda to go with my popcorn because the inteRRRval was just a few seconds long.
In India we get interval for nearly 15 mins to pee and buy more snacks for ALL movies. And we have a tons of varieties. You can hear "crunch crunch" everywhere in the second half. 😂😂

@Raman Sharma so basically you are saying that some Hollywood and some Indian movies are good, right? Hollywood is tanking pretty bad right now especially after it started bland, woke agenda movies. Secondly, speaking about "subtlety", Hollywood movies have no subtlety whatsoever when they show nudity or sex scenes. @Raman Sharma well, I have not seen any hollywood or bollywood movies for the last 10 years just because of the woke content and trash in both productions. They used to be good entertainment platforms but it is better to watch youtube videos where you can actually be entertained and also educated rather than watch fake people doing fake things.

It is meant to feed your mind the best of imagination about what a mere human being is capable of achieving if he is determined and seek to avenge his cause! The genius film director of this film is a passionate storyteller who has already been exploring great ideas of stories through his films. Like for example, he once made a film called 'Eega' which means 'Fly' in english. The story is based on a guy who is killed returns to take revenge in form of a housefly! Just think how insane the idea is.. but exactly cool the execution is.. the film is again a super entertaining watch where your superhero is a fly and you are rooting for it when the villain is doing everything possible to stop/kill it!! The endless possibilities you are going to witness now are awesome and will startle you so much!! Brace yourself. Indian cinema's best gems are even better than some of the classics you love!

The action scenes at the end are indeed Comic booky however the reason these two have these enormous strength at the end is, they represent the hindu mythology characters namely Bheem who is one of the pandavas in Mahabharata who had this enormous strength and of course the other one being Shri Ram who is a reincarnation of lord Vishnu. It's not about those characters anymore, it is about what these characters represent.
Thats how north understands and its wrong. Both characters r freedom fighters against british. One is KOMARAM BHEEM,a tribal leader of TELANGANA.Another is ALLURI SITA RAMARAJU ,a tribal leader of ANDHRA.Both r TELUGU people. But the last fights is for North Indians.

Thank you so much Chris, for your enthusiasm. You're making me want to watch that movie. I've been binging for 2 days on video reactions to the trailer since I've heard you recommend this movie. I've also become curious about the viewers' enthusiasm about KGF. In 2 days of binging, I've discovered that India has over 20 movie industries, divided by regions and languages. I've watched some Bollywood movies in the past and didn't know there were more industries in India than just them. I've just started delving into the rabbit hole of Indian movie industry. And boy, if you can find some specialist of Indian cinema amongst your acquaintances, or if you can contact SS Rajamouli or someone from the South Indian industry, I'm sure you'd have a very interesting conversation. Some US youtube influencers have been able to have an interview with Yash (one of South India super star, the lead actor of KGF) so maybe you too can get a hold on one of those South Indian stars. I wasn't much crazy about Bollywood years back when I tried to watch some movies. Now I get why. You've loved RRR, a Tollywood movie (Telugu language, from South India) and you may have a look at KGF (Kannada language, categorized as Sandalwood movie, also South India). While reading comments from Indians, the ideas I'm getting is that South Indian movies are starting to take over the Indian market, for decades dominated by Bollywood (Hindi language, North India). The North Indian audience had for long ignored and looked down on South Indian movies due to language barrier and prejudice. Think Hollywood VS Independant cinema (divided into the 49 other states, each having their own version of Hollywood, more or less prominent locally). And apparently, the Indian regional industries have always had a reputation for quality, favoring good stories and their audience have the habit of watching movies from other regional industries, while North Indians didn't make the effort of watching movies in different languages. Interestingly, South India is more literate (70%) than North India (60%). Kerala region (South India) has a literacy rate of 96.2%. They speak Malayalam language and their movie industry is called Mollywood. It's reputed for producing good and realistic stories, based on the everyday life. This is to point that the South Indians are generally more educated than North Indians, and they grow up watching movies from various regional industries, not impeded by a different language. From early on, Bollywood has often been producing remakes from South Indian hits, which would very often become major hits with the North Indian audience. Nowadays situation of Bollywood is strikingly similar to Hollywood. In the comments, people point that Bollywood since maybe the 80s-90s has lost almost all creativity, now producing en mass remakes of South Indian/South Korean/other Asian movies, or making biopics. They barely produce original content anymore. The audience is also criticizing the nepotism in Bollywood, their incestuous relations with terrorists and politics, their anti-Hinduism (like Hollywood anti-Christian attitude), their wokeness (surprisingly found some popular channels of Indian youtubers using the same language as in the US with the same arguments against Bollywood, like obscenity, too much sex, alphabet groups promotion, pandering of Islam, stunning and brave independent women, etc.), the formulaic plots. There are still some good directors in Bollywood but they are few. If I'm understanding correctly, the change in power in the Indian movie industry started due to the OTT platform (sort of equivalent of Netflix) offering to the country access to regional movies with subtitles. Slowly, North Indians got used to reading subtitles. Then there have been more an more regional movies dubbed into Hindi and other regional languages instead of letting Bollywood produce another remake. So from then on, North Indians have started to discover the creativity of the regional movie industries. What many comments highlight is that South Indian movies are generally respectful/proud of Indian culture and Hindu religion, whereas Bollywood has become generic/global and lost India's identity. There is also nepotism in the South, but not at the same level as Bollywood. And despite nepotism, a nobody can still make it in the South if they have talent. Apparently, in Bollywood, if you are not sponsored by a big shot there, they usually crush a newcomer's career. In the South, the tradition is for established professionals to help aspiring actors/technicians/directors. Also, the Southern culture requires people to be polite and humble. Their audience does not tolerate arrogance, tantrum or worst of all, badmouthing their fans (which apparently, Bollywood stars would do). And I've noted several of the big South Indian stars speak a few different regional languages as well as Hindi to better communicate with their fans. What I found very interesting is that like with Hollywood, Bollywood had everyone convinced in India that they needed the Chinese market to gross the 1,000 crores (about $130 million) milestone (like the billion dollar film in the USA before "No Way Home" proved Hollywood wrong). RRR will be released later this year in China and Japan, which are huge markets for that film. SS Rajamouli has intentionally chosen to release RRR later in China because he wanted to prove to his Indian peers that they didn't need the Chinese market to gross 1,000 crores. The few Indian movies that reached that milestone up until now had done it with the Chinese market. Just about 10 days ago, SS Rajamouli won his bet. He wanted to show the Indian industry they didn't need to compromise their creativity to the Chinese censorship.
Actually its Goldmine telefilm channel of RUclips having distribution networks in Bollywood ised to acquire rights and dub all of TOLLYWOOD films from last 20 yrs in HINDI.which was watched by North Indians .coming to know that majority of Bollywood pictures r remakes of Tollywood hits. Now REMAKEWOOD got into slump bcos TOLLYWOOD films r being released all over the INDIA dubbed in every major language. Next big step will be TOLLYWOOD films dubbed in to world languages to introduce the Indian culture to the world.

@@vigneshpreethamganji6956 Thank you for the praise. I'm a French lady, of Vietnamese descent. I don't speak any of the Indian dialects. Chris Gore has been raving so much about RRR at a time when Western movie industry is at a decline, it took me reading dozens of Indians' comments on foreigners' reactions to RRR and KGF trailers, to realize something about the Indian movie industry matches what has been happening with Hollywood. I found the film to be a masterpiece. To me it was like a combination of the count of monte cristo, braveheart, the best of buddy movies and musicals rolled into one package with over the top action sequences. It wasn't just a mashing of these elements, they all connected with the same thematic cords and did so seamlessly and with great ease. I didn't have to understand the culture or history to understand the symbolism and that is because the film took great care in setting things up and making sure they stayed consistent. The elements and all of the emotions it extracts from you are genuine. It ensures a human story before it tells the story of a culture. Hollywood is obsessed with false platitudes and illusions of inclusion to push political messaging while RRR actually made something for all people while telling a specific story about a specific people. I have not known much about the culture but I can tell you this movie made me well up in tears and shout out in celebration at the successes of the hero's. It is beautiful. We don't need representation to understand one another. We are all human after all and timeless themes touch all our hearts and minds.

Guys, if there's 1 comment that says it's Telugu, not bollywood, just upvote it, 2000 comments saying the same thing just hides genuine comments about the film/experience
For realistic Indian cinema try Sardar Udham easily available on Amazon prime video, 94-95% rotten tomatoes and 8.8 IMDb. British are not ‘new nazis’. India was colonised at a time and suffered at the hand of the colonisers. We were never affected by nazism.

I'm from the northern part of India and have grown watching Indian/Bollywood movies. It pains me when someone from the West confines Bollywood to singing & dancing. Indian movies are SO MUCH MORE. There is drama, comedy, emotions, poetry, thrill, revenge, romance, singing, dancing and at the end of it, you get to have a Moral of the Story. It's ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT. There's a reason why Indian movies are loved even in remote areas of Africa or villages in Afghanistan no one has even heard of. 🤷♀️
This is an Indian movie, in India we don't look movie's or people according to region we all are united and we are Indians. It's an Indian movie, but If you want to know specifically which part of India then it's a Tollywood movie. In India we have many local cinemas divided into different regions of India like Bollywood's , Tollywood , Kollywood , Mollywood . In India there is a very large diversity , so you will find many regional cinemas .
I have few i watched and i think it's great And i will update this list every time when I watch a good one Ratsasan 2018 KGF Chapter 1 Aayirathil Oruvan 2010
The British during their Raj in India has brutally punished freedom fighters by sending them to Kalapani jail and locking them for months in dark and compact places to break their will. What they showed in the movie is not an exaggeration. Also Komaram Bheem is famous for catching tigers using tribal techniques.
It's not Bollywood. It's Tollywood which means Telugu Film Industry. And the same director of RRR directed Bahubali 1 and 2 which were highest grossing films in India of all time. These were released in 2015 and 2017. You should watch them as well. You will love it.
*"1770" (UPCOMING MOVIE)* *_From The Writer Of (Bahubali & RRR) And From The Assistant Director Of SS Rajamouli)_* *Watch the official motion poster of this movie on RUclips.* *Goosebumps in just a few seconds, what the entire movie will do.* 🤔 *I Am Eagerly waiting for this film.* *"1770 A Battle" is An (Tollywood) Indian Telugu-language historical drama film, based on the Bengali Novel Anandamath.* *The novel and film are set in the events of the Sannyasi Rebellion.* *The film marks the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram', which sparked the Swaraj movement in India against the British Empire.* *The story of the novel and the film revolves around the armed struggle by the Hindu Sadhus against the British East India Company in the second half of the eighteenth century, particularly in the year 1770....*
For other Indian movies, I'd recommend the previous movies by the same director SS Rajamouli (and stories also by his dad): *Baahubali 1 & 2* (medieval/fantasy epics), *Eega* (fantasy)... And one not directed by SSR but the story is by his dad: *Bajrangi Bhaijaan* (comedy drama). Otherwise, there are 2 Indian movies that are absolute must sees for a cinephile: *Kumbalangi Nights* (drama about 4 brothers and their complicated relationships) and *Super Deluxe* (hyperlink drama with very unique stories) I would also recommend: *3 Idiots* (comedy with a commentary on the education system) *My Name Is Khan* (drama with a political aspect, post 9/11 situation for brown people in the US) *Udta Punjab* (hyperlink crime movie/dark comedy about the drug problem in Punjab) *Haider* (Hamlet adaptation) *Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara* (comedy drama about 3 male friends reconnecting during a trip in Spain) *Chandni Bar* (drama about the underworld and sex work in Mumbai) *Udaan* (coming of age drama about a teen living with an abusive dad) *Andhadhun* (thriller/dark comedy about a man who pretends to be blind and who witnesses a crime) *Dangal* (sports drama about a former wrestler training his daughters in that sport, based on a true story) *Vada Chennai* (crime movie) *English Vinglish* (comedy drama about a shy stay at home mom who decides to learn English) *Hey Ram* (political drama about religious extremism) Also old classics if that's your thing: *Awaara* (drama, a masterpiece! I don't know how to summarize without saying too much... just go into blind, it's a highly renowned movie) *Anand* (dramedy about a man dying of cancer and making the most of his remaining months) *Pyaasa* (drama about a struggling writer) *Sholay* (drama/western with lots ot tone shifts, be warned 😄) *Sparsh* (romantic drama where the man is disabled and it creates issues in the relationship) All these are well known movies, and quite different from one another. Together they show some of the variety of Indian cinema 🙂
It's not bollywood movie. There are so many film industries in India. It's hailed from tollywood (Telugu cinema). Anyway there is no more bollywood or tollywood it's only Indian cinema from hereafter
This is not a bollywood film guyz its tollywood...its a Telegu Movies....n you must see more of these Telegu Movies Especially Bahubali....and this movie was about the freedom fighters so they've given a homage to other real freedom fighters in the end credits song

The ending credit song Ethara Jenda lists different Indian freedom fighters from different states of India. We all fought for Mother India together.
Did your Research eh?
This is an epic action movie with lot's of references to Indian Mythology " The Ramayana "
Bollywood: Hindi language(most in the west are familiar to this)
Tollywood: Telugu language (RRR,Bahubali and some of the highest indian grossers belong to this industry)
Kollywood: Tamil language
Mollywood: Malayalam language
Sandalwood: Kannada language
All these are very huge industries in india since each of them have very high viewership since most of the languages that I have mentioned here have around 100 million native speakers.

Hollywood was good in the olden days ...The Ten Commandments, Ben Hur, Quo Vadis etc. Now it is 3rd class trash.

Gully Boy, Sardar Udham, Kumbalangi Nights, Gangs Of Wasseypur, Karnan, Maara, Sarpatta Parambarai, Pink, Kapoor & Sons, Neerja, ZNMD, Parched, Barfi, Tamasha, etc.
For romance classics go straight to Shah Rukh Khan and older Salman Khan movies:
Kal Ho Na Ho, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, DDLJ, K3G, HAHK, etc.

This film is pure entertainment at its peak! Yes, it is a superhero movie.

RRR is a Tollywood made movie in Telugu but has been dubbed into all of above languages and released .
Please call it indian regional cinema we are not a cheap imitation of Hollywood or Bollywood. We are indian cinema a.d just name the state its from
This movie is not a perfect movie, it has its own problems but one thing the movie does well is provide goose bumps entertainment through out!!
Dumb, the movie doesn't have any problems, may be you have, Don't rub your opinion on others. It's very challenging movie to any director, because the movie is not rounding around love story, sex, gully rowdyism, mafia. This movie is just about friendship between two freedom fighters. How they get motivated and their spirit.
It's a great movie, what's your problem
@@strongerpoint2538 chill man, you yourself said not to rub opinions... and calls someone on the internet dumb... And also he just commented what he thinks about the movie.. Just admit you are offended..👁👄👁
@@priyavarshithrohankolluri9157 how can a person say there are problems in movie. Did director said to him any. May be he didn't get what director wants to tell subtly. If you don't understand the concept that means concept is not wrong.
@@strongerpoint2538 Nah man, if a person can't get the concept it could also mean the director failed to present that concept to that particular person.(Its all about perspective).
Nothing is perfect whether it's a movie, cake or a personality...Everything has its flaws and its ok... Some may criticize it(like the guy who commented)..some may like it soo much that they turn a blind eye to its flaws and defend it(like you and it's ok) but ultimately it's you who decide whether to like it, defend it or be in a middle ground, as i said its all about perspective..
But you called him dumb.. you could have ignored his comment or replied to him in a proper way.. but ironically you said he was rubbing his opinion while you yourself did the same.
you have to watch this movie twice to understand the significance of every scene !! Frist time, your mind will be shaken !!
The best film of 2021, according to me, was Sardar Udham. It's available on Amazon Prime.
Tell me a better film which came out from Hollywood in 2021 than Sardar Udham.
Not from Hollywood but Pushpa the best Indian movie of 2021
@Yash Hengne ya what’s wrong with pushpa 😂😂
@Yash Hengne ya I understand where your coming from how sardar udam Singh is about a historical figure that represents our country but in commercial standpoint no movie that was released in 2021 is close to puspha that’s just my opinion
@Yash Hengne I disagreee I think the director of pushpa did a fantastic job using a new story line and knew ldea that hasn’t been talked about before and everything thing in the movie is great screenplay, allu Arjun’s acting, etc. But each to their own ig

Absolutely agree with you 😊
Wonderful detailed accurate analysis by you.
wow man im so surprised of how accurate you got the situation. im starting to doubt that you are indian? otherwsie why would a foreigner be interested in indian movie industry and culture.
And I guess it's a nerdy trait that once something intrigues you, you start investigating. I'm used to researching for myself (you have to once you realize you can't trust the MSM), compile the data and trying to crunch it into digestible points.
Just a little correction it’s Tollywood not Bollywood 🙃. India has many woods
Call it indian regional cinema comparing it to Hollywood and Bollywood is cringe fr.
I recently watched this movie on Netflix. I hate musicals, singing and dancing, and things like that in movies. I hate it. However, this movie, perfection. I absolutely LOVED this movie! I even loved the dance scene so much I’ve watched that scene only, probably 10 times. I’ve probably seen this movie 5 times total and I can’t get enough of it. Even the dance scene in the credits was awesome. They look like they are having so much fun with this movie that it’s contagious. Highly recommend. Thanks Chris Gore for putting this on my radar.
I am an Indian and hate Bollywood movies which are just only for singing and dancing so nowadays i stopped Watching Bollywood. Now in this case of RRR I've just thorrowly enjoyed the full movie without skipping any song, even Natu Natu also. Not a fan of this song though. I think and many of us Indian thinks Komuram Bheemudo song deserves oscars.
@@xxxkingkumar7904 I agree with the Komuram Bheemudo song. I listen to it on my headphones while I’m working all the time. As time goes on, I think I enjoy that song the most. Natu Natu is fun, but, the KB song is awesome. I love everything about this movie.

I totally agree with your point about woke films. Even modern Bollywood films are becoming woke trash. SS Rajamouli is a real gem of Indian cinema. Do check out his film Eaga and of course Bahubali.
O, and I've thought bollywood movies were conservative trash. It's obviously time to try them again - thank you for you recommendation.
Can you give an example of "woke trash" in Bollywood? Is it just having Muslim actors in the lead roles, even though the film itself has no woke themes? I think you throw around this term woke without even knowing what it means.
@@autumnramble They use woke without even defining what it means or providing examples. I think most of them are Modi supporters who are angry that some Bollywood actors have political opinions contrary to theirs. It is quite pathetic how insecure they are.

I watched this in regal cinemas and the experience was great. I've seen twice already! The 3 hrs goes by fast.
I just saw this movie a few days ago, and it is truly a fun experience. I want more movies with over-the-top action scenes and dudes just being good friends. India has many industries, including Telugu Cinema -Tollywood, Hindi CInema - Bollywood, Tamil Cinema, Kannada Film industry and Malayalam Industry etc. This is a movie form the stars of Telugu CInema Industry - Tollywood but was made pan India including many actors and technicians from other industries including Hollywood.
it pains you? why man? why do you care. It should not bother anyone. let them say wahtever they want.

*"1770" (UPCOMING MOVIE)*
*_From The Writer Of (Bahubali & RRR) And From The Assistant Director Of SS Rajamouli)_*
*Watch the official motion poster of this movie on RUclips.*
*Goosebumps in just a few seconds, what the entire movie will do.* 🤔
*I Am Eagerly waiting for this film.*
*"1770 A Battle" is An (Tollywood) Indian Telugu-language historical drama film, based on the Bengali Novel Anandamath.*
*The novel and film are set in the events of the Sannyasi Rebellion.*
*The film marks the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram', which sparked the Swaraj movement in India against the British Empire.*
*The story of the novel and the film revolves around the armed struggle by the Hindu Sadhus against the British East India Company in the second half of the eighteenth century, particularly in the year 1770....*
Otherwise, there are 2 Indian movies that are absolute must sees for a cinephile: *Kumbalangi Nights* (drama about 4 brothers and their complicated relationships) and *Super Deluxe* (hyperlink drama with very unique stories)
I would also recommend:
*3 Idiots* (comedy with a commentary on the education system)
*My Name Is Khan* (drama with a political aspect, post 9/11 situation for brown people in the US)
*Udta Punjab* (hyperlink crime movie/dark comedy about the drug problem in Punjab)
*Haider* (Hamlet adaptation)
*Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara* (comedy drama about 3 male friends reconnecting during a trip in Spain)
*Chandni Bar* (drama about the underworld and sex work in Mumbai)
*Udaan* (coming of age drama about a teen living with an abusive dad)
*Andhadhun* (thriller/dark comedy about a man who pretends to be blind and who witnesses a crime)
*Dangal* (sports drama about a former wrestler training his daughters in that sport, based on a true story)
*Vada Chennai* (crime movie)
*English Vinglish* (comedy drama about a shy stay at home mom who decides to learn English)
*Hey Ram* (political drama about religious extremism)
Also old classics if that's your thing:
*Awaara* (drama, a masterpiece! I don't know how to summarize without saying too much... just go into blind, it's a highly renowned movie)
*Anand* (dramedy about a man dying of cancer and making the most of his remaining months)
*Pyaasa* (drama about a struggling writer)
*Sholay* (drama/western with lots ot tone shifts, be warned 😄)
*Sparsh* (romantic drama where the man is disabled and it creates issues in the relationship)
All these are well known movies, and quite different from one another. Together they show some of the variety of Indian cinema 🙂
