Lovely moment during the big dance off scene when Evil British Dancing Guy quickly picks up on Ram and Bheem’s dance moves and makes an effort to mimic them. Ram sees this and gives him two thumbs-up in approval. A very nice human moment. A sort of “our countries may be at war, but at this moment we are men in the same world.”
Honestly I didn't notice that until I rewatched. It's sort of cute.
That's not what happened but I don't want to spoil you feeling cute about it
@@nivk9445 100% lol the thumbs up is meant to be condescending and its perfect
Yes, I've seen it, that was cute.
I felt it was more in the sense of "Let's go if you think you can handle this". Sort of like boxers lightly knocking each other's gloves before the fight.
I've watched "RRR" three times now; twice at the cinema and once more now that it's on Netflix. And this coming Saturday will be #4.
are people outside India really really enjoying this?
@@rishabhjain7543 According to Wikipedia, RRR made $13million in the USA, making it the 2nd highest grossing Indian film in the US. $26 of that $13million came from me personally. 8^D
@@PeterAckarey haha great
@@PeterAckarey 😅😅 actually I did read all the stats but I was wondering how much of that came from Indians living in USA, who love Indian movies anyway cause, culture Vs people who know nothing about Indian cinema.
I don't think such a stat is even possible. So just wanted to ask anecdote, your experience. 😀
wow. I am Indian and still have not seen the movie.
Lagaan made me rekindle with Bollywood films. Eega was such a surprise Indian superhero film. 3 Idiots is a masterpiece. RRR is Roaring, Rolling, Riot of a film.
(Steve here) Eega is on my watch list. May chat with James about reviewing it
Eega isn't superhero film, 🤣, it's supernatural comedy and revenge drama, but it's worth to watch , can rate 9/10
Superhero is a Western concept. India has Baahubali !
Bahubali and KGF into the list.. Imo

I'm from India. I watch very few films in theatre. But I watched it twice. I felt exactly what you felt. This is pure cinema.
Saw RRR weeks ago in cinema and coming back for more on the June 1 #EncoRRRe !! I feel exactly the same way as you guys. Walking out of the theater I felt good, like I haven't felt after a film for many years. The feeling that THIS is the magic of movies, not just a time-passer or a designed-by-committee 'blockbuster'. RRR elevates the artform and brings a positive message about good people doing good things for good friends, family, and community! It was like receiving a big pitcher of ice water in the parched desert of Hollywood dreck.
Thanks for the review guys. So much love for you people. Happy to hear those words from you
(Steve here) Our pleasure. It's an incredible film
Loved your perspective and take on the movie. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that you guys have seen some pretty popular Indian films, definitely check out some more from time to time. Would love to see more reviews from you guys!
Really one of the best analytic reviews of RRR I've seen
Thanks! Much appreciated
30:47, just FYI my friends. That was the REAL ATTIRE & WEAPONS of CHOICE of The Legendary ALLURI SITA RAMARAJU. That was NOT FICTION.
Your comments on the film were so bang on....The makers know sequences are over the top and the main characters are like demi gods but this movie has the special quality where it doesn't put viewer off because of that. And the point which could have negative points of this movie become strength of this and gives best entertainment and movie experience..
They definitely missed a point on Keeravani's background score. To me it was world class !!.
@@masterprofession yes background score was out of world... Keeravani sir should be credited equally with the lead cast and Rajamouli sir...
Thank you for the wonderful review and appreciating it for what it is without much judgement.
On point review.

That bridge scene is so symbolic, where the two heros exchanges their motives/aims.
Rama who's fighting for the freedom of our country throws the flag to Bhim & Bhim who's in the quest of this child from his tribe throws the child to Rama. Its Highly symbolic & EPIC!
Just love this review ... On point:) you guys are awesome
hey guys, loved your nuanced take on RRR, especially steve's words and reactions were infectious and reflects the sheer joy a pure cinematic experience can bring!!
Your take on the movie is amazing. You've understood the movie real well!!
Loved this review!
Great review! Loved your level of granularity. Please share your review on the BGM score as well. We would love to see your perception in that area as well. Thank you!
If you need SSR movie suggestions, don't go back before 2009 Magadheera. Magadheera, Maryada Ramanna, Eega, Bahubali 1 and 2 are sure watch. Bahubali 2 is still the best theatrical experience of my life.
Hey Chatrapathi with Prabhas was a great movie
@@Mugiwara_Sanjii It was great when I watched it in 2008. Now when I watched it again, the 2nd half is extremely slow compared to the 1st half. As an Indian it is fine for me, but I doubt global audience will find it good.
One of the best reviews I have seen
I loved the review and appreciate both of you but I need to give a special mention to James. I loved how he caught on to some of the nuances.
James is the real sport here. He's a true lover of art. He has loved the movie for its soul despite it being 100% against his own land. Thank u James
Thank you for such a honest review. I completely agree with you that RRR is a visual treat for cinema lovers like me. Just one correction in your review is that you mentioned that Ram is dressed as Shiva but its lord RAM attire. This movie gives fantastic experience both for eyes and ears making sure you get involved in the movie completely. one will get goosebumps in few key scene if you know the indian mythology (Ramayana and Mahabharat). Thanks to Rajamouli for giving us RRR one of the finest movies i have seen and will be special for me always. the director Rajamouli sir once faced lot of challenges in his own film industry and once there was a comment from some senior actor that he will make movies with big starts and that's why his movies are successful, now this hurt Rajamouli sir and he made a film on fly "eega" and showed the word that good director doesn't need good actors to make a successful movie. in RRR you can see how he can bring best out each actor in all departments like, dance, fight and expressions. Waiting for his next masterpiece couple of years from now :) .
Really enjoyed your review!
Your opinions and reviews are very interesting.
thank you so much for the review ❤
Damn.. I watched many reviews but this is the one that really resonated with my experience watching this. I loved this review and the points you mentioned. 5 sterling bullets for this too. Your friend Steve put my experience into words. Lol. The moment he said "They have destroyed this beautiful palace they have created and I yelled out, yes good has triumphed". I was invested in Steve's experience.
Fir recommendations I would recommend the cinematigraphic masterpiece called Tumbbad with a unique story.
As for another director apart from Rajamouli, you can check out LJP, a director known as the master of chaos. With his Oscar entry called Jallikattu
Great review. Your review is going viral in India.
Ram Charan's next movie is with Shankar - A big director from Tamil cinema. It's gonna release early next year so keep an eye on that.
Thanks for the heads up 😀👍
ram charan already takes on many men in magadheera . you guys should watch it . rajamouli also did a buster keaton's our hospitality remake .which is pretty great
Rangasthalam of ramcharan is a classic and a must watch!
Brilliant dissection this..recommend Joseph (2018), Malayalam film for its slow yet tense pace and sublime plot twist
good review. just a small correction. The deity is not shiva. It is another diety named "Ram", emulated by the character "Rama Raju", played by the actor "Ram Charan"
Loved ur review. Hope u watch more Indian movies
Great analysis and review
I really enjoyed your review and yes Ramcharan is wonderful in movie..
Great review gentlemen only second to the movie itself....bravo!!!
(Steve here). Very kind, thanks! 🙂
The attention to detail in RRR action scenes is quite amazing..the opening scene where the cop jumps into the frenzied mob by leaping over a couple of drums is a case in point. The first drum at a low level and the 2nd one standing gives the elevated launching pad for the jump. The 1st drum gets flat on the ground when the mob attacks the fence and the drum rolls over in the preceding scene to the cop's jump...and not just a convenient placement of drums to help the cop crossover the fence
Nice observation and I LOVE that scene
The bridge scene symbolises the whole movie perfectly.
Ram with the "Vande Mataram flag" represents the revolutionary.
Bheem with the kid represents his story arc of rescuing the Konda tribe girl.
The bridge literally and metaphorically bridges both their causes.
Ram and Bheem exchange the kid and the flag foreshadowing what's to come and eventually Ram helps rescue the girl and Bheems joins the revolution in the end and they join hands together and team up.
Lover your views, your knowledge is going to make this channel biggg, advanced congratulations
Thank you so much 🙂
Absolutely loved your review. 👌🏻

I think you should watch Magadheera Directed by Rajamaouli. Ram charan as lead role
Even after 45mins, am surprised you didn't talk about the score of the film. 😁
(Steve here) Good point and an omission we regret as the score was very good!
Tumbbad is a must watch hindi film
(James here) Loved TUMBBAD! Saw it at a festival a couple of years ago. So rare to see a horror movie like that from India.
To feel that joy and awe in cinema again...don't score this film..it's a masterpiece..really loved your genuine movie discussion
25:55 The idea was to show that both of them have different tastes but are best friends. To support that, Bheem is shown working as a bike mechanic in Delhi and Ram is shown as the guy who likes horses. To add to this, actor Ram Charan loves and owns horses. In his previous film Magadheera with the same director Rajamouli, Ram charan is shown riding horses multiple times. So, it is expected from Ram Charan to ride the horse from fans.
Loved your deep dive review. !!
If you want to watch Ram Charan … your next movie should be “ Magadheera “ directed by SS Rajamouli
You can watch The Kashmir Files, another recent masterpiece. It is an Independent Film (a docu-drama) based on the account of 1st generation victims of Kashmiri pandits (hindus) genocide and exodus from their homes in 1990's and the darkside of the politics behind it. It's basically The Schindler's List for Hindus.
The first time they meet. The bheem trying to save the boy symbolizes that he wants to save the girl and Raju is carrying national flag at that time symbolizes that he is fighting for the nation. As soon as they meet they exchange their missions. And the friendship bonds. If you watch closely there are lot of easter eggs. The ending where the wife of scot dies hanging by barbed wire etc.
lovely review
It requires more than 2 to 3 viewing for the drama, subtleties, connections to sink in
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!

@@masterprofession Nice suggestion! I’ll edit my comment.
@25:20 Something to remember here is that the horse is not native to India. India historically always imported horses from Central Asia. For this reason, the horse has always been a possession of the elites, not of poor rural people. Even today, if you could ride a horse, you are most likely a wealthy person living in a large city. That explains why it is the urbane Ram that rides the horse, and Bheem the tribal man rides the motorbike (which, of course, was taught by Ram himself).
Another point to note is that Bheem repairs bikes, so he knows riding as well.
Not true. There has been findings of horse remains in India as old as 3500 during Indus Valley civilisation. Horses have been mentioned numerous times in ancient Indian scriptures all dated even older.
@@deepakrvs5733 I did not say we never had horses. I said the horse is not a native animal to India, unlike Central Asia or Arabia. Just as the elephant is not native to Persia, though the ancient Persians may have imported elephants from India.
@@iosaroj Yes, that’s a much simpler explanation than mine. 😀
Everyone had horses, cattle infact poor too. It was main means of transportation.
Wished the movie delayed its debut on Netflix for few months and continewd to show in the cinemas, that's where its enjoyed most, btw I saw on Netflix. It would have earned more money at international box office.
@19:55 @ 30:51 Rama becomes a shadow, Embodiment or Personification of Shri Rama himself. Symbolically Blessed by his attire, weapons (Shri Rama was the best Archer ever! As good as Shiva himself that's what the song says which people misunderstood) & treated by bhim thats the most EPIC & dope part ever.
So gud reactions.
Its a (true)fictional story on true based events of 2 freedom struggle fighters of India great.. against british rule
Real heroes true legend freedom fighters komuram bheem and Alluri seeta ramaraju are born on 2Telugu state land of Telangana and Andhra states of India..in 19th centuary starting era..
Rrr movie an epic, n big blockbuster from ss..rajamouli director.. (Telugu film Industry of India..)
ACtors komuram bheem is Ntr n sitaramaraju is Ramcharan..
Excellent actors..
Kudos India..
Both Ram and Bheem are modern historical figures as depicted in movies but they are also inspired from ancient historical characteristics of Shri Rama (from Ramayana Era) and Mighty Bheem (from Mahabharat Era) that's the reason why Bheema can lift motorcycle because according to Mahabharat, Bheema can crush mountains and 🐘 with his single punch. And Rama dressed liked that statue (idol from where he gets his 🏹) of ancient Indian Rama. You should read the lyrics of song playing in background music in last forest battle. That score describes the characteristics of both ancient historical figures.❤️❤️🪔
Any chance of Oscar in any category for RRR ?
You guys should also check out Sardar Udham Singh which is a dark serious true life biography movie. This can show you why Indians condescend British raj.
My grandmas grewup watching the famous " Vitalacharya" master of " Grandeur, Over the top" the infinity level of imagination to bring in those carricatures, epic level movies which everyone watch with the Eyes wide open ,just like the way u guys r discribing now 😀 it's in Telugu ,South movie. The narrative is so unique which brings the kid in us to comeout. Finally Raja Mouli is re-introducing that kind of super imaginative ,out of the world storytelling with pure Human emotions intact. With technology these kind of story telling have a great potential to explore. Indian mythology has a greatest possibility to express itself on big screen. Afterall Illiyad ,Homar were toddlers compare to Hindu mythology.

Thanks for your review RRR .love from indians
At 25.26....the director rajamouli has given his theory for Bheem & Ram's choice of transport. It's that the teo charectors would be fascinated towards their opposite side of origins! Bheem coming from forests gaining interest towards motor bikes as he comes across them & ram adapted to the civilized ways ... Having a thing towards the country ways...!
Watch brahamastra trailer ,it just came out today, it's one of the biggest movie coming out of india
I wish the useless indian selection committee that sends movies for oscars as country's nominee sends RRR which has got amazing name recognition and reviews from the west as well instead of some no name movie that no one's seen
Commercial movies rarely make it to the oscars .

I think RRR is a masterpiece. I would suggest you to watch Rangasthalam (ram charan in lead) and Nanaku prematho (NTR jr in lead).
why r u recommending normal movies like u mention, as the reviewers get to see several of such normal/regular films worldwide in general ??? RRR here is worth discussing as it is one of the all-time greatest movies from India worth to be discussed. Look at the largeness , visual effects, background music, emotions and it is all world class in RRR, Bahubali1/2, Eega. He is in the process of taking Indian movie standards to world class.
RRR is now available in theaters in the USA ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Not all Indian films are epic, over the top, historic and high budget busters.... well, that's what's gaining the high amount of recognition world wide but I'd like you to check some grounded stuff from the southern and the North Indian cinema as well. They're not necessarily bollywood but here are some suggestions from a few directors and Actors where you can start from
1. Films of Anurag Kashyap (Gangs of Wasseypur part 1,2)
2. Shoojith Sircar's "Sardar Udham" (Got rejected for an oscar submission due to political reasons of how the film potrays against someone but it's very dumb of them to cancel on those aspects since we have films like Schindlers' list)
3. Lokesh Kanagaraj's Kaithi and Vikram.... (A universe of it's own)
4. Hey Ram by Kamal Haasan ( Like literally, he wrote, acted, directed, produced and is also a dance, make up artist, choreographer, Technician, singer and a lot of other things you can explore)
5. And for nice romantic films that hollywood might not have ever done or seen is a film called 96 by Vijay sethupathi and Trisha
Well.. This movie is a representation of life.. or india for that matter. There is everything here. We experience extreme hardships and happiness, emotions.. etc.
NTR has all shades of emotions from innocence, comedy, dance, helpless, betrayed, bromance, Romance and furious, action.
NTR Jr is Considered as the greatest actor in his generation in Telugu cinema rather Indian cinema
