    Your right about telling people what they need. I separate my samples by color schemes because I have color samples for windows, doors, shutters, siding, gutters, roofs, plus trim coil colors. So there's like over 200 samples and that gets confusing for some people

    • @borders06
      @borders06  2 года назад +1

      Yes, essentially you want dark over light. make sure after you stamp you blow off excess release really good. use paint thinner or mineral spirits to liquify the release powder, your not washing it off , when that evaps your sealer can go on. depending on what kind you can get it must be a solvent based sealer, not water based.

    I’m curious about the use of the mineral spirits on the release powder. Why mineral spirits not water

    • @borders06
      @borders06  2 года назад

      antique release powder is hydrophobic which means it will not mix with water. release will only liqufiy with a solvent. mineral spirits is good to use because its refined more so it doesnt have as nasty a smell as paint thinner. ill tell you the majority of the time we just use paint thinner because being outside the smell isnt a big deal. if you were doing samples of curb in a shop then min spirits would be better.

    @Borderline USA Bananacoast Borderline here from Coffs Harbour, Australia, your videos are really good, thank you for sharing. Just wanted to ask with the white spirits (mineral), does that effect the sealer when applied afterwards? Also, you mention “burning”, what does this mean please? Cheers Nick

    • @borders06
      @borders06  2 года назад +1

      Hi, believe it or not ive been to Coffs Harbour!!! the solvent (paint thinner or mineral spirits) will evaporate very quickly so will not affect your sealer at all. "burning" is what we call the process of misting that paint thinner onto the powder release to liquify it, it's not "burning" the color into the concrete, just basically getting it ready for sealer. it gives your seal a much better chance of adhering to the concrete.

    • @borders06
      @borders06  6 лет назад +1

      If it's not shining like u would like it to be there could b several reasons. How rough is ur sand? If its not smooth and tight on surface then its porous, sealer soaks in and it takes alot more. How many solids sealer u use? Always use an acrylic if u can get it. 25 percent and less it's considered a cure seal, u can spray right away before u leave. Family how many coats are u putting on the first time? I apply three thin coats and it's very glossy , 25 percent clear guard from Butterfield. If u want u can come back and seal anytime as long as surface is clean but we do it all before we take off, costs time and money to come back. Hope that helps..
