And people say that Akira Toriyama didn't plan ahead.... Since the first episode of training, Whis hinted MUI, this episode is simply the best of DBS
Hope the anime catches up to the manga one day 🙏🏻
Even before whis, it was even foreshadowed during the fight with ssj3 Goku vs Beerus
And in the first episode of DBS or DBZ Battle of Gods Goku was flying towards Beerus and his body / legs pulled him back on its own and Beerus said "If you had not jumped back like that this fight would be over , your INSTINCTS saved you".
Popo layed the bricks
Beerus has a low level mastery of this form
Possibly ui sign
But no other god of destruction has this form
Vegeta’s speech in this episode always sends chills down my spine
FACTS!
Fun fact The angels and Daishinkan(whis father) have Perfect ultra instint, AND ITS actually something from The real world sort of speak, also know as "Mushin": Description. Mushin is achieved when a person's mind is free from thoughts of anger, fear, or ego during combat or everyday life. There is an absence of discursive thought and judgment, so the person is totally free to act and react towards an opponent without hesitation and without disturbance from such thoughts
The samurai studying iaijutsu used it as "heijoshin," or a mind so fulfilled and at peace within bushido that it doesn't have to "switch" from for example peacefully eating dinner to beheading a "monster (for youtube's sake)." No transition, no need to "get amped up."
I think Western martial artists are calling Mushin the... "flow state" I believe.
Pleasure to meet you Commando!! *bows*
It's a mindset practice in variable martial arts from Europe, to middle east, to the far east.
Hell even Bruce Lee appropriated the philosophy in his development of Jeet Kun Do.
Not relying on a given for of combat, but combat it's self.... Jeet Kun Do it's self means "way of the intercepting fist" with no rigid form structure to adhere to.
He said it himself "it's meant to make a warrior like water. Water is formless, yet can be any form. You pour water in a cup, it becomes the cup. You pour water in a teapot and it becomes the teapot. It can be soft to the touch, but can crash with force enough to puncture stones on a cliff. Be water my friend"
Before anyone asks what this has to do with ultra instinct...... Bruce explained it decades before dragon ball was even a thing.
When explaining how training in Jeet Kun Do is mentally he said it as so.....
"When my opponent expands, I contract. When he contracts I expand. When the moment arises, and I am completely without thought..... I do not hit. My fist hits all by itself"...... I feel that aptly describes ultra instinct.
Some great dialogue in this comment section. Kudos to all three of you. Just wanted to add that in Buddhism, ultra instinct would probably be the equivalent of nirvana in a way. It’s thought to be the perfect state of being, if you will, and thought to be attainable through extreme meditation in which all thought, desire and even feeling ceases to exist until the practitioner essentially becomes one with the universe.
@@nocturne311 One could even conceptually argue that if you are indeed at one with the universe and thus everyone within it, conflict couldn't exist unless presented by an outside "self." Forgive me nocturne if I'm wrong, but I believe one of the goals of Buddhism was the overcoming of self? If so, then even the ancient Art of War implies a deeper perception towards conflict: in the Art of War, you MUST first defeat yourself before you can even begin to try to counter your adversary. Admittedly much of this is philosophy, but my studies of the vaunted Zhuge Liang's commentaries on the same book imply the same concept.
We are not defeating an opponent when we engage in conflict with another: we are attempting to defeat a branch-version of ourselves/self. I have not studied Buddhism as fully as I have shinto and bushido, along with Christianity and Islam, but I would be very grateful if you had some suggestions as a starting point for a new student, Nocturne. My general understanding was that the Buddha sincerely sought a way to escape the cycle presented by selfishness (not to be confused with self-will), and with hope that love and serenity could overcome the detriments that removed us from nirvana and a more sincere reincarnation.
The Eastern religions as a whole acknowledge and understand that self is the greatest hindrance to fellowship and love, both with the natural world and fellow mankind. Your spirit will always be in turmoil if there is no sincerity, and self despises sincerity because sincerity requires self-reflection. A self-imposed judgement as it were, where even "the man alone" has a spiritual measure he must deal with.
Babbling, sorry, two AM here. Be safe and well my friend, best wishes to you. Your advice and comment is greatly appreciated, but not demanded, I wish you well.
@@wren7195 if you read Journey to the West, Sun Wukong and the Destined One has attained it
“Trespass into the domain of the gods” is one of the hardest lines in Dragonball
And Jiren doesn't needs that. Only weaklings who cant believe on their own power like Goku needs that.
@@Lucy_595 u realize anybody could achieve ultra instinct if they were trained by the angles right? Stop tryna low ball goku just bc he surpassed your favorite character 🤣🤷♂️
@@Lucy_595are you sped? It is Goku own power. Ultra Instinct is a technique not even Jiren could achieve. Do you know how old is Jiren? He is hundreds of thousands years old and this is how far he could go? Goku ain’t even 60 years old and look at the level he achieved in this fight. Saiyans are that amazing my guy.
@@Lucy_595I can tell you’re definitely a Goku hater so let’s break it down. SS1, SS2, SS3, SSG, SSB, and UI is all of Goku’s powers. If it isn’t his power then who power is it lol? Since you saying Jiren don’t need the power of gods to be OP then Goku don’t need to be over a million years old to be OP. Jiren has been training for thousands and thousands of years so I’m pretty sure if Goku had lived as long as Jiren since we should make it fair then Jiren wouldn’t stand a chance against Goku in his base form if Goku had that many years of training in his life. 😎 do the math
@@Lucy_595oh and you called Goku a weakling lmao? Let’s see you go and fight Jiren 1 on 1 and do better. I’d love to see it
The way Vegeta stood up for Goku, and defended the Saiyan's pride sent chills down my spine, and the way Goku responded to Vegeta's call and command immediately, goes to show how Vegeta is truly The Saiyan Prince, and how Goku is the Star Of The Saiyan Race.
Krillin and the others will do the same next episode
Jiren is clearly superior to the sayan race. He can just talk after losing and crying.
Goku also never would stand against Vegetas authority as a Saiyan Prince. He always accepts him as what he his.
@@jesuseinstein4706 EXCEPT when it's the last bite of food.
(Also that remix was *EPIC* )
Vegeta's speech is definitely one of the best scenes in the episode. Like a older brother giving the younger brother a very nice pep talk
The way MUI Goku effortlessly shatters Jiren's attack is flawless. 🔥.
He popped that thing like a soap bubble!
10:00 I've got chills and tears again... 🥹
10:08 This is my favorite moment in all of Dragonball! Right here.
Goku closing his eyes!!...
14:30 the "vibration" is the speed with which his arms are moving. It is just to show the viewer that they are moving so fast that it seems they arent moving at all.
When Goku changes his palm to a fist, is when he starts to attack.
The same goes for the blows at the end, he just attacked and moved so fast that the only thing you are getting to see is his arm at this point the blows are already delivered and even the visual and acustic signals need more time to be delivered to the viewer than it took Goku to attack, that should underline how fast he become.
21:55 In many martial arts, the concept of slowing down your breathing, letting your instincts and intuition guide your actions without emotions that can burden the heart and mind is very prevalent. It's one of the main reasons why so many people in Asian cultures meditate during their training in martial arts. Shaolin monks, specifically, train so intensely and with such skill that it becomes instinctual before they've been in a monastery for five years. After that, they can meditate while going throughout their day, and their moves become much faster, their punches more intense.
Goku (his Gi design) has always been based on the Shaolin monks, so him achieving AUI is just adding more to that aspect of the lore.
You've never done a martial art in your life it seems
Get off the anime lil bro 😂
All that goes in the bin when an MMA fighter is your opponent 😂
Ultra Instinct comes from what Bruce Lee said “Be like water” if you ever train martial arts you know being in a flow state is what helps you be fluid in the heat of battle.
Another peak moment in Dragon Ball history! I was in complete awe of not just this episode, but when Goku displayed the extraordinary prowess of UI in all its glory and mastery against Jiren, enough to make the Destroyer’s stand, the feeling of seeing all of that…it was incredible!😌👌🏽
Yeah, and then in manga Granolah and Black Frieza can counter UI 🤨
I was waiting for this very moment for them to watch this very hype moment, if you asked me how many times I watched the last three episodes, and also the whole entire DBS you wouldn’t believe me, that’s how dedicated I am am about Dragon Ball
Same.
It sucks though that Barris talked over Goku closing his eyes. That's my favorite moment.
@@chanceneck8072 yeah same
Vegeta speech, whis and then beerus speech’s will never get old. Gloated ep
It truly is incredible to think where Goku came from at the beginning of Dragon Ball (no spoilers) to where he is now. It is truly a story of how a person can achieve greatness by continuing to push yourself to be even better than than you thought possible. From where Goku started, to becoming one of the most impressive fighters there has ever been.
I've been wanting to see Madisons reactions since episode 1 of DBS. I also had chills when I first saw Mastered Ultra Instinct
Toriyama your work will always live on, dragon is the best anime and that speech of vegeta is legendary
*spoilers* @17:40 the animation is so flippin awesome. Jiren rushes Goku and they zoom into Goku's eyes and pan the scene 180°into Goku's sight looking into Jiren's eyes to see from Jiren's perspective the refection of himself. So Goku is seeing what Jiren is seeing and clocks it.
“He’s arrived at something truly superb.” followed by all the gods standing for Goku, still gives me chills.
Yeah that line was amazing
One of those episodes that were streamed on big screens with people gathering across the world and one of those that broke the internet.
LOL as soon as Madison says 9:57 Whis, Baris has to hold that smirk in so hard
What you're referring to is called OODA loops, which stands for Observe, Orient, Decide and Act. In combat, you'd want to overwhelm your opponent with OODA meaning you want their mind to work against them by causing them to think to the point of almost overthinking and making their reaction time ever so slightly slower. In an extreme case, think of it like sensory overload. At the same time by relaxing and relying on instinct, you lessen the OODA loops that you yourself are going through and your reaction is quicker. These can be ever so slightly but can be just enough to make the difference between victory and defeat.
Whis's speech in this episode is criminally underrated and brilliantly written. Yes, a Vegeta speech will never not hit, but the narration of Goku adapting and overcoming his final barrier to MUI, mid fight, is a beautiful sequence.
I totally believe the genuine experience you had with Brazilian Jujitsu 100%. I myself practiced Taoist Tai Chi, experienced the warmth energy build up after being exhausted from just subtle basic martial arts movement for health recovery that day. I was so tired and yet I was consciously aware I my body was resting to recuperate, best rest I’ve had and it was just like I wasn’t sleeping but I was getting the benefits of it, and the warm round energy does begin in the gut from the experience I had.
Some of this fictional stuff we enjoy watching so much and can be exaggerated or shown been depicted in creative and unusual styles, but carries so much truth behind it. It is amazing.
Can't believe it's going to end really soon😢😢
Don't worry we will get og dragon ball reactions
@@MrDoomsday7that will be wild 😂😂
Take some positives in that Krillin, you are not the worst. I love this form, Goku is such a super badass and Jiren is just a badass. Great speech by Vegeta, Beerus telling Krillin to shut up and the epic fight. What an episode! Let's watch what happens next, next time shall we?
A moment when suddenly goku comes behind jiren and he caught jiren's attack and dissapated it
that moment is my favourite moment❤
My favorite episode of Dragon Ball Super. The story, action, music, animation, freakin’ Goku. Peak DBS. Goku’s first fight with Beerus as Super Saiyan 3 showed a slight hint, and over the series Whis has been leading them to this. Goku achieved it 🙌
It's like how super Saiyan god is the base form of super Saiyan blue. Ultra instinct sign is the base form and mastered is like it's super Saiyan form. But it's actually how the angel's like Whis has their silver hair. They are automatically in ultra instinct
@@jsmithers. it is literally nothing like that you literally know nothing🤡
@@jsmithers. buddy the only one crying here is you. You low class oaf🤡😂
I think it's AWESOME, man- that you incorporate fan made remix'd themes of the series and put them int tastefully, as you did with Vegeta's little speech to pump goku up mid way in the fight. Respect to you for helping promote someone's music.
“Can’t wait to see their faces when they’re destroyed.” Lmao. Y’all are equally savage.
This is where a lot of fans finally say Goku reaches Flash levels of speed. He moves so fast, all you see is his body vibrate and hundreds of punches happen.
And yeah Ultra Instinct is kinda based on a real thing. It's a hyper focus state, and technically it can be applied to anything.
Some say it's based on the brains response to stress, because there are two kinds of stress. Distress and Eustress. Distress, is the bad kind where something challenges you in a way that feels overwhelming and negative. But Eustress is when a challenge occurs but it feels, possible. It's difficult, but you have the ability to deal with it if you give it your all. That if I empty my mind and try my best, I push further and further than I ever could normally.
I used to play Super Smash Bros Melee competitively and sometimes I still do, but I've had multiple times where an opponent is truly just beyond me. There are some players that literally insane, you have no idea how much better they are than you until you try to play them.
And I've had some games playing against people, where sometimes, you just get in that zone. All that stuff you normally can't do, you can do. Everything you normally get hit by, you avoid it. And you're not even aware of it until the game is over and then you can't get back in that mindset.
That Bruce falconer track made vegeta's speech 100× more awesome
16:44 the silence is so loud
In my opinion this is the best episode in the tournament of power those words by vegeta hit hard
Vegeta definitely pushed Goku into mastering UI . After that speech that's when he closed his eyes and started letting go of his thoughts. And it all started from Vegeta giving Goku what energy he had left.
The episode that crashed the Internet🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Whis! Goku has done it, hasn't he?
For some reason in the Japanese subtitles when Berus stated he’s finally done it, and Wes said”Hai””……Hai” it hit way harder
LETS GOOOOO!!!!! 💪😎💪 This episode didnt break the internet. It shattered its limits!! 😁
"KAKAROOOOOT!!!" Goosbumps!! every! F'ing! Time!! 👍😊👍
This episode is my favorite and left me speechless. I've watched his transformation into Autonomous Ultra Instinct many times.
Literally had chills exactly when you said it bro‼️ One of the dopest scenes of Super ngl
Bro won in life
What I love about vegetas speech, is its almost as if the saiyan king is commanding his warrior and goku responding to his kings commands
He gains full control over ultra instinct when he fights moro and granolah
No matter how many times I watch this episode I get goosebumps everytime, it was done perfectly from vegeta’s speech to the transformation couldn’t of been done any better
That’s what it is an oozaru sound effect basically. The English dub never used it up until Ultra instinct point but the Japanese version used it in their versions a lot in dbz and Kai.
I really do appreciate how beerus told everyone to shut up and watch. He at this point was no longer concerned with the 7th's destruction, but instead win or lose he knew this would be a battle everyone needed to witness.
I love when you looked at her when the Gods were standing up. When we first saw it we could feel it in our souls that this was a top tier moment in anime!
This episode and the next were some of the best DBS has to offer. It's amazing
Got sooo much chills und tears...this Episode and his Majestic form is a Legendary History all time ❤.
if you want i can provide full reaction in hd .
The gods of the multiverse stood up to show respect to a single mortal..
Thats why goku is my goat
You mentioned calming down and being able to win after you did. Ive done the same, theres a lot of truth beyond the crazy of db style fights. I found doing techniques and counters hard to do until i switched off, almost defocused from the attack and moved in the way it felt natural to do, then tacking the 'technique' element into the end to turn a simple dodge into a counter. This was back in 2008 way before this aired ofc. When it did i was immediately getting flashbacks to that moment which makes this form go even harder for me.
Masterd Ultra Instinct is awesome but like they said it’s not a level that can be easily reached so that means his body will be very damaged and in the Japanese the ape row is better too hear
no its not better in japens dont here goku sond like btihc on creack when yelsl in japense
Something about her reactions seems fake to me or very exaggerated to me. 😮💨
In her defense, bds dragged tf out of this.
Then there's also Mastered Ultra Instinct Susanō in the manga.
Idk about sasano but I see lmao
It's weak as shit.
There is also True UI in the manga...
There is even true ultra instinct far efficient than mui
In Manga beerus hai ui (not mui) i don't why they nerfed beerus in the anime and also people were saying after this that goku surpassed beerus so no beerus is still in a different league
so Dragon Ball has had multiple instances where Goku (and sometimes Gohan) has had a beast roar alongside their own voices. One instance is Goku SSJ4's Super Dragon Fist. Occasionally it's so powerful that as he's saying it you can hear a dragon roaring very subtly in the background. Usually though the animal roaring is the Ozaru because it accompanies a transformation. But the first time I myself noticed it was when Goku headbutted King Piccolo and shot through him. They show the Ape as a light/energy silhouette as Goku is launched up at King Piccolo.
When they were falling while staring each other while ready for their landing and when Goku closed his eyes that was fire. Whis Beerus and Vegetas commentary was great. In the manga Roshi shows similar movements to mui when he fights Jiren and it inspires Goku to reflect on the teachings of every master he's had and then he unlocks it. This episode to me is better than the next one
Funny how Baris doesn't like Zenny's, but in Japanese version they were my favorite
I just disagree with the "Mastered" designation, or MUI use here. Here Beerus says "The true power, complete in all it's magic, this is Autonomous Ultra Instinct". In the manga Whis says "He's perfected it, the true state of Ultra Instinct". Both in the anime and in the manga, the moment is described in a grandiose way, that leads to this MUI naming.
Nobody claims Goku mastered Super Sayan when he first achieved it on Namek. He did so in the time chamber during the Android saga.
Same reasoning should apply here. Doesn't make any sense to go from a sign state to a mastered state in one step.
This should simply be known as Ultra Instinct. Makes much more sense, because there would be nothing more to improve if he'd mastered it, and at least in the manga, he certainly improved upon it.
Beerus has mastery of UI just not completely like the angels
I'm always so shocked when i come back to RUclips and see how far behind you guys are compared to the patreon. We're watching og dragon ball and already passed goku's first world martial arts tournament and about to start the RR army arc
Ok what's with the delay? Lol thought there was a drop everyday besides weekends
Mastered ultra instant is a form of great speed and defense
I have been waiting for this episode from you guys since your DBZ reaction days. How far we've come. This is my favourite episode of DBS on par with the next one.
Spoilers
The best part is that Goku's version of Ultra instinct is basically the first step of the ladder vs The Angels who are always in the UI state and are much "sharper" than Goku. Also if you read the manga Beerus is still levels above UI Goku.
Whis has told Goku that his MUI is infact imperfect as he uses it as a "transformation" rather than a technique which he should be in 24*7 like the angels. It's insane how deep this form could go but as it stands Goku cant touch Beerus even with this form.
Any notice the nod to Vegetas theme in the music just after the Epic Vegeta speech??
Amazing!
This is my favorite episode in all of DBS, because of Vegeta's speech combined with Beerus's comment, whether in Dub or Sub it was awesome. BTW Ultra instinct was revealed to not be a form or transformation, it's more a state of mind/being. This is shown in how it's designed to look like base form with a bit of flair in "sign" and MUI. So in Theory he could have a transformation with this state (similar to how SSJ God is Goku's base form with god ki and blue is the SSJ form with god ki.)
A fun thing I like to think is real, is that when Goku first achieves MUI, he is shrouded in energy and looks like a being made of pure energy and this in some way pays homage to the fan art of SSJ 20 Goku. When I first saw Super Saiyan 2 Gohan, there was a lot of fan art about higher forms one of which that stood out among me and my friends, was Super Saiyan 20 Goku, and he looked exactly like that, a being made of energy in the silhouette of Goku, same blue energy too (blue was for his Kamehameha).
where the heck is the new episode
The growls and screams Sean did as goku in this is INSANE!
Gave me so many chills watching someone watch this for the first time 😂😂 I remember watching this when it first came out, was jumping up and down
15:03 Yeah, this moment is WAY better in Japanese. I'm sure you must have seen that, too. But even as a person with NO knowledge of Japanese, I was kinda trying to memorize the Zenos' words in this scene, they sound SOOO cute in Japanese there... 🥹😅🥰
dam what was the track on vegeta's speech, its fire
Whis.
Yes?
Have we finally arrived at this episode?
Yes.
8:31 she called it 👏🏻
Do you mind making the small screen more clear to see? Thanks ❤❤
"Trespass into the domain of the Gods!" man vegeta has such a way with words. Feel like i could lift a damn mountain when i heard that for the first time
I need the next episode! Like now!! This is such an amazing journey for you both and I'm here for it!
I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets inspiration from this show, I was training several months to hike up my first mountain when these episodes aired, the big day came and I was going up without any problems for a few hours until it became extremely difficult as I was getting to the peak, getting slammed by 80mph gusts of wind, clinging to a bolder trying to rest, I almost gave up until I thought of a part of the next episode where Goku forces himself up again and continues his battle against jiren, it somehow gave me the motivation and strength to reach the peak, it was an awesome moment
He's reached the level of the angles UI is an angelic technique which is why it's even hard for destroyers to achieve that's why his hair is white and he admits a angelic like aura. Now he's not as powerful as the angels he still just scratched the surface but if you notice, all the angels have white hair and are always in a constant state of perfected mastered UI it's basically permanent for them. Goku has barely tapped into mastered UI. it's safe to say that both him and Jiren have surpassed the gods of destruction but still aren't close to the levels of the angels.
The amount of ads on this video seemed way more than usual which kinda spoiled the experience a bit for me. I understand why there are ads but the amount on this specific video annoys
Excluding the ad issue though, this is an awesome episode to watch. One of my all time favorites
THIS EPISODE!!! I was floored even though I got spoiled somewhat from the Japanese advertisements. This s--t delivered and more. I was nearly brought to tears of pure happiness
I hope everyone here knows that Jiren is way more powerful than Goku.
That wasn't Vegeta asking Goku to defeat Jiren. That was Vegeta, King of the Saiyans, demanding his braviest warrior to become a god and to defeat Jiren.
21:30 ur talking about flow state :)
It’s really a difficult thing to accomplish and only the top level fighters/competitors can “achieve” it. For anyone confused it’s basically just like ultra instinct where you stop thinking about what ur going to do next and your body just acts on its own as a result of years of practice in the sport.
Jiren vs Goku, fire vs water. Sun vs moon. The references are non stop over the next few episodes. Jirens power is raw and chaotic like the sun whereas goku is calm and tranquil like a full moon reflected on a still pond. The inspiration for the form and the aura goes back to a famous Bruce Lee quote; Be like water.
The oozaru sound was likely intentional. The Japanese version of DBZ had them making oozaru noises a lot, particularly Goku and Gohan as they powered up. Gohan charging his final kamehameha against Cell uses this perfectly in Japanese
Vegeta said don't speak down on Kakarot! RIP Toriyama, Dragon Ball has definitely motivated me at times to be better, both physically and mentally.
The moment that truly broke the Internet. The one that coined the term.
The next powerful form who beat master ultra instinct ultra ego Vegeta the true God of destruction ❤❤❤❤
Yall reaction is amazing started watching y’all yesterday react to DBS and I’m all caught up now I CANT WAIT FOR YALL TO REACT TO THE NEXT 2 EPISODES
The form he is reaching is actually called Complete Ultra Instinct not Mastered Ultra Instinct
Yeah and then after that he needed to learn to master it.
Yeah exactly. Complete or full UI is more fitting IMO
Whis teaches him how to fully master Autonomous Ultra Instinct in possible season 2
But it will be possibly called True Ultra Instinct
Who cares?
In the manga of DBS he did continue the story with the Moro arc to the Granola or Gas arc
You should show her the audience reactions from those huge stadiums or whatever in mexico. The sheer HYPE of it all is on a completely different scale. Thousands of people cheering as if their own universe was on the line
I don't know how true this is but Bruce Lee had once spoken about a state similar to ultra instinct where you just let the body flow on its own without putting much thought into it. Toriyama might have taken inspiration from that concept. If super comes back and we get the next arc you will lose your mind watching Ultra Instinct in that arc.
Adding a vegeta theme over his speech was top tier
I literally screamed like I was watching a sports game when this happened
Beerus telling them to shut up and watch is a great moment
19:15 The reason why Goku is able to master such things is because he is a combat Savant.
Mastered Ultra Instinct it's Too much Powerfull like Basic but Ultra Instinct Transformation Perfect ❤❤❤❤
This episode was the best of all time The complete Autonomous Ultra Instinct Goku is so majestic and more divine now this is a brilliant episode, and also the animation the choreography and the camera angle awesome great reaction Madison and Baris we all love your reaction thank you for reacting this episode. There were other parts of super that you guy didn't react to that is also fun and stupid but great reaction again
I beat most of yall didn't know that Dragon Ball Super wasn't originally made by Akira Toriyoma? It was originally fan-made and he bought it from them only thing that Akira Toriyoma made was from tormenment of powers! But he also brought in one of the original creator's!!!
