I like the fact that you include emotional minimalism into your videos. I am in the process of decluttering some 'friendships' that are, in fact, very one sided. Upon reflection, they expect me to do all the traveling to meet up, they expect me to do all the listening to their problems ( I long ago learnt to be quiet and not tell them my problems, which have always been greater than theirs - they just dont want to hear it!). They always poke fun at my minimal wardrobe ("Oh, I see you are wearing that again, purple does suit you though"). Etc etc. It sounds harsh and uncaring to say that Im decluttering some people, but they ' no longer serve' me and i find myself allowing them to make me feel unworthy and miserable. So i am limiting contact.

This is a beautiful presentation, Seve. Thank you.
My journey to minimalism began one day when a workman was installing a new floor in my living room. We had to move out all the furniture, of course. The new floor was laid when I was away at work. It was finished by the time I came home that evening. I walked into a beautiful empty room and I loved it. It felt so simple and peaceful. The open space was so much nicer than all the stuff that had been in it. The house felt happy. I thought to myself, “This house really wants to be empty!”
I sat on the bare new floor and began imagining how I would furnish it and how I would live in it if I could do anything I wanted-anything the house wanted. I found I already owned the few things I wanted to put in my dream room. I moved them in and gradually got rid of everything else. Then I did the same with all the other rooms. Then with all aspects of my life.
I used to live in a normal (read: thoughtless) house. I have kept a descriptive list of all the things I’ve gotten rid of in the last 15 years. It is thousands. Yet I still find things I don’t want any longer that I take to charity shops every few months. This now is the valuable and beautiful stuff I couldn’t let go of before now. I’ve become what I call an “essentialist”: I only keep what I actually use. This is , of course, not much. My “decor” consists of things I use. My bedroom looks like a monk’s cell-bed, bureau, lamp! Nothing else. I put a few plates and a bowl on my kitchen counter so it looks like someone lives here. I have hung my favorite Oriental carpet on the wall and it is the only artwork in my home. All the other walls and floors are bare and I like it that way.
I love my home and all the empty space. I try not to let my ego be proud, though. I catch myself wanting others to see how simply I live, hoping they will think I’m amazing. I don’t live like this just to brag to my friends. So, along with my simplicity I am trying to practice humility. This means I am learning more spirituality and searching for deeper meaning and deeper experiences. When you don’t have a cluttered mind or a cluttered home, there isn’t much left but spirituality.
My only problem is that I haven’t found anyone local who shares my same interests. I don’t know where they are. That is why I enjoy finding people like you on the internet. I enjoy your videos.

I am on the minimalist journey too and I have been decluttering for about 9 years now. I bring nothing into the house, apart from food. If I buy anything it is because something needs replacing - one in one out rule. I find it difficult to find like minded females ( I'm female). Their hobby seems to shopping and I will tag along to enjoy the chat when they sit down for coffee or lunch. However, they get quite distressed when I don't buy anything and often assume that I am too poor to buy. It is not that - I love that thete are pretty things in the world. I really do, and I can appreciate the design and craft that made them. But I don't need these things in my house - I don't want things any more. I am content with what I have. I find my community of similar minded folk on line.

    Excellent video!
For me different types of minimalism help a lot in many different ways,
Minimalist design in Apps, Furniture, etc helps reduce the feeling of clutter and makes everything feel more open and airy,
(I like scandinavian/japandi furniture design and monochrome apps with single uses and no extra tabs for example)
Minimalist spending habits helps by getting rid of finance related stress, because you can always be sure you'll get through the month if you never just spend to spend,
Then there is just owning less things, which similar to design reduces feeling of clutter and make you feel like you can breathe, but also the energy required to find things you need because everything has a dedicated spot and you do not need mass storage solutions to toss excess items into.
In the end I am a minimalist specifically because I felt like I've had enough stress for a lifetime already, and just want to have a simple life with my closest staying comfy together.

👋🇩🇰 well explained! Exactly my experience, since my journey with simplicity and decluttering moving towards a more intensional life started in 2020. It turns out that l’m not exactly a minimalist because l like a little more options in some areas, than l suppose are really necessary. But l relate to all the steps and elements that are described in this post, certainly enjoy all of the benefits of a more intentional life. There’s much better room in every sense of the word to breathe and live, adapt to things outside my control, and to be able to focus/think with an international lifestyle and certainly more sense and meaning to my life! Recommend, recommend ❤

Best decision about supermarkets for me: I always trust my hubby with a list, the same list we have prepared at home, and had for ages. He shops just two times a month, and then I'm happy with what he brings home, and we easily make do with that. He doesn't want to ask the staff about anything, and he doesn't fall for anything fancy on display, he walks the exact same route in the same order, and he wants to get out as quickly as possible, staying on his schedule, keeping an eye on the time. So sometimes there isn't what we usually have and we have to use what we have at home or be without. If the shop puts an item back on the shelf where it *should* have been, because it has "always" been there, then we have it again... I highly recommend to imagine you are, or have *a hubby like that* to take over the responsibility for your shopping. 😀
