This video will give you my overall thoughts, but I'll be posting a longer a7siii review with more sample footage soon! But the short answer is: this camera rocks. This is what happens when camera companies take their time, listen to the customers, and don't cripple (hammer) their features. I love it!
Brandon Li Very nice work! What lenses did you use? Shooting on a gimbal with accurate autofocus, shallow depth are my priorities like you have done here. What would be the first 3 lenses to buy for A7S 3 you would recommend? Thank you so much!
This video was just what I needed to start my day on a positive note. Thanks @BrandonLi for showcasing the beauty of my State, I especially enjoyed the White Sands shoots, that moonlight was pure magic!
Tear jerker in two minutes flat. That's all that matters at the end of the day. Beautiful? Yes. Well executed? Yes. Unique? Yes. But most importantly, all components of craft are brought together here in harmony to create an emotional sensation which gives value to the tech stuff. Bravo. Thank you Sir.
i love how every path she takes gave a different mood. and it is so wonderful. i almost forgot this video was all about a7s3 cause i am so focused on the story. great moonlight shot!
This piece was amazing man .. really differentiated itself from all the other stuff we saw coming out from others who tested it. Certainly achieved answering the "should I" question if anyone had one.
Videos like this make me superrr amped about film and progressing my skills. But videos like THIS ONE make me feel really overwhelmed about how far behind I am when I look at how good the footage, coloring & crispness
Wow...after watching a number GOOD reviews from other RUclipsrs, to me this is the most practical, real-world experience, review I have seen. The reason is, you review the camera with your specific application in mind, not just by stating the tech specs.
Lets be honest This is was far the best review of this camera in youtube.. I like how he mainted the natural colors that are almost straight frok the camera..unlike others who just blast teal and orange or some other crap luts
You have shown us such brilliance in past that this video just seemed ok. You have raised your benchmark to the sky, now it is hard to digest something below that benchmark
This is so good they should rename it “SonyA7s Li” you’re such an inspiration Brandon. I just make videos with my iPhone but I always apply all what I’m learning from you. Thank you!!
I think you are very talented director. Having the skill like yourself, not because of this camera, I think you can pull off this awesome movies from any camera!
First of all kudos for all the hard work over there. Older tests I have conducted in my a6000 regarding noise and various shooting modes showed me that although generally DRO is a useful tool, it always adds a certain amount of noise that cannot be easily removed in post. Turning it off and recovering shadows at post seems a better solution if you want to avoid the initial noise pattern. Also everyone should keep in mind that turning up the shadows so much (+9) in a shooting profile could be sometimes convenient for SOOC results but again might lead to unwanted noise at the final image. It's about balancing the whole thing as every shooting situation/environment is unique. Thanks for sharing.
@@BrandonLiUnscripted thanks Brandon, if you asked me, I would always prefer a somewhat noisy image that carries the feeling and power of the moment over a technically "perfect" but sterile capture, I think especially everyone in wedding videography can confirm my thoughts 😁, many of us even add that extra noise with plugins during the editing to achieve a film like look...
Am I the only one who is continuously watching this video even I don't have a DSLR camera.. 🙄🙄 I love the way he explains everything makes so easy to understand 🤘
Another amazing video from an incredibly talented filmmaker. I honestly wasn't planning on watching the behind the scenes afterward, but I was pulled in with your concise, informative breakdown of the footage and gear. Really great work, and super educational. Definitely one of my inspirations!
Brandon at #8:14 it says standard creative style set to sharpness -7, but on my A7Siii I can only lower it to 0, it gives me an option of 0 to 9, where did you change it to -7 or was it 0?
Where did you setup the highlight/shadow/sharpness settings under standard? Under Creative Style usually you only get Contrast, Saturation and sharpness - is there a new menu? Thanks
Thank you for this great video. I did turn off picture profile. Then, I go in creative style but I can’t go at sharpness-7. It goes from0 to 9 Any clue ?

I'm going to remember Crossroads and what it made me feel for a long time, thank you.
Man, you milk every drop out of filming with a gimbal. The more of your work I view, the more I appreciate your efforts. Great job...
4:30AM here in Rome, couldn't get to sleep, so I decided to watch 1 last video, it was worth it! greetings from Italy

Telling a story in a short time excites me ...and you always does this .
You are an phenom when it comes to cinematography. It looks better than Hollywood films
Lets be honest
This is was far the best review of this camera in youtube..

An honest and amazing review of the camera. Sony killed it on this one.
1:39 is stunning!!!
The light and colours at 6:26 are nothing short of orgasmic. I wish to master gimbal movements and lighting like you Brandon. You're awesome!
This is incredible. This is by far the best sony a7s3 video I've seen. The colors and cinematography looks so good.
You have shown us such brilliance in past that this video just seemed ok. You have raised your benchmark to the sky, now it is hard to digest something below that benchmark
I bought my A7s3 after watching this video a couple of years ago. I am still a geek over your color grade. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks! As explained in the video I didn’t grade
Yeah! I see pro mist filters in action! :) I love them. Perfect combo with siii. Also beautiful compositions, I think is my favourite so far.

The lightnings behind her 😍😍😍
Brandon is one the few on RUclips that can make a cinematic video and tell good stories without relying on slowmo all the time 👌🏼👍🏻💪🏼
Brandon Li, did you say "girl friend"? Dang, she's trekked all over and posed for all your movies -- level it up, dude!! 💍💍💍
I mean..^he has a point... 🤷🏼♂️

I think you are very talented director. Having the skill like yourself, not because of this camera, I think you can pull off this awesome movies from any camera!
The low light on this Sony A7S3 is such a beast!!!
Wow what an incredible film!
Beautiful as always li. The clarity we can get from our devices now is just so good......being a creative now is just so much more obtainable.
Very happy to see your thoughts on this camera. I preordered it 2 weeks ago..., I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on it... cannot wait
wow - moonlight shots are magical
The A7SIII is just cherry on top.
the best video of the sony ArsIII they have created ... amazing Brandon ..
Bro you are an awsome cinematographer. The low light tho is what I think makes this camera one of the best.
You are a genius. Periode. And you must to live with that.

Thanks for your thoughts, that’s why I was careful to mention that the noise pattern is the same in slog 3 without DRO or shadow adjustments.

Sony find right man😊😊😊
Awesome Brandon! You touched on things I haven’t heard anyone else talk about yet.
0:43 THE best shot in the video. 🤠
according to the colours I agree with you, but for the effort of capture it and the feeling I prefer 1:22 :)
Am I the only one who is continuously watching this video even I don't have a DSLR camera.. 🙄🙄 I love the way he explains everything makes so easy to understand 🤘
1:40 🔥🔥🔥 Damn, I’m definitely going to invest into this.
That rolling focus shot over the field of greens (oregano?), stopping at the house in the background? Yeah.
Another amazing video from an incredibly talented filmmaker. I honestly wasn't planning on watching the behind the scenes afterward, but I was pulled in with your concise, informative breakdown of the footage and gear. Really great work, and super educational. Definitely one of my inspirations!
The image is so cinematic. Dynamic range and highlight rolloff looks great.

Your film making simplicity has made you a star.. you are always an inspiration to me.. Thanks for the video
Wow. This is super
Showcases the camera exceptionally. Also makes me realize just how much time and travel is involved in these films. To say nothing of the talent.
