That’s funny because I think my car might have narcolepsy, every time I come to a sudden stop it falls asleep. It gets to be a real pain in the butt in town where there’s a lot of stop lights.
Garage 54, I have an Idea for you. here in the US back in the 60's n 70's we had cars that we joked you could land an airplane on. lol so my idea is take two of your cars and weld them side by side, remove the wheels on the sides that are welded together and the steering wheel from the "passenger" car so you have a super wide car that hauls 8 people comfortably. lol
Thats why I keep watching you all...fun entertaining and interesting gear head experiments! No matter the language or country, i think us gear heads all think alike. Looking forward to the next one.
One future experiment might be using gallium as lubrication in an engine with a lot of aluminum or an aluminum block. Gallium attacks aluminum, so it could be a spectacular result! But it would have to be very clean inside the motor and to possibly run the gallium would need to be heated until it turns liquid.
You all make good machines! But I have seen diesels go threw a hell of a lot more! Our 5.9 Cummings for example you can’t kill them! 7.3 power stroke as well! Love your videos and keep them coming!
1:05 considering the build quality and the high proportion of Iron (over alloys/plastics), this is a great engine to choose for this kind of revival attempt. I'd wager that it will at least start, maybe not run well or last long but with the toughness of these engines & you guy's skill and lateral thinking it'll go again. On a side note, I've always had a desire to build a car that is driveable but with as much of it as possible completely burned out. Maybe if this runs it'll give me some more inspiration to go for it...
I know a fellow that had his R31 Skyline torched by an ex-girfriend. The entire rear portion of the car was burned out, but the car still ran and drove. Out of pure spite, he drove it to his auto-electrical shop and almost immediately began rebuilding the car. He still has the car to this day, and if you didnt know the history, you probably wouldnt pick that itd been torched a bit over a decade ago.
it's so much better to see an engine going back together. we learn from blowing them up, but we learn more putting them back together. it sounds like you might put the whole car back together. that would be very expensive. may i suggest making a frame and putting it back as a dune buggy or a shop truck. myself, i love making trucks. they can be as simple as you want and if you do a good job they are extremely handy to have around.
Make a perpetual motor out of magnetics and I loved your magnetic spring idea use a wedge and 8 magnetics next time lol add a spring on the guide pins to float a slow crush

Now make a 4 way joystick that actuates four single piston cylinders (use a master from a hydraulic clutch - 2002 Accent for example) in an X formation and connect it to a X and Y axis pivoting joystick with pushrods to press into each master, oriented centrally so that each corner of the X points to the wheels LF, RF, RR, LR starting at top left and going clockwise. Connect the other end respectively to each corner of the car's brakes with brake lines - 4 way selective brakes ;)
