      @gvi341984 there's also DIY Gang who rebuilt a burned Hellcat... (mind you, from what I watched of that series there was more replaced than rebuilt & I was left feeling numb to it with how much they replaced. More done to prove a point than to save "the car" because there was barely anything left of the original car afterwards)

    One future experiment might be using gallium as lubrication in an engine with a lot of aluminum or an aluminum block. Gallium attacks aluminum, so it could be a spectacular result! But it would have to be very clean inside the motor and to possibly run the gallium would need to be heated until it turns liquid.

    1:05 considering the build quality and the high proportion of Iron (over alloys/plastics), this is a great engine to choose for this kind of revival attempt. I'd wager that it will at least start, maybe not run well or last long but with the toughness of these engines & you guy's skill and lateral thinking it'll go again. On a side note, I've always had a desire to build a car that is driveable but with as much of it as possible completely burned out. Maybe if this runs it'll give me some more inspiration to go for it...

      I know a fellow that had his R31 Skyline torched by an ex-girfriend. The entire rear portion of the car was burned out, but the car still ran and drove. Out of pure spite, he drove it to his auto-electrical shop and almost immediately began rebuilding the car. He still has the car to this day, and if you didnt know the history, you probably wouldnt pick that itd been torched a bit over a decade ago.

    Not firing on all cylinders check your ignition system.6 kilos of compression that’s 15psi that wouldn’t even pop,now 6 bar would be low but it would run .

    I suspect the fitting of the vacuum advance pipe coincided with the carb getting used to petrol again?

    valves springs lost tension

    • @unglaubiger5645
      @unglaubiger5645 4 года назад +2

      That would need well over 300°C, springs are usually tempered about that temperature. But it was in a fire for a while, so that could be an issue.

    What iif you use gasoline instead of oil and run it full rev until it breaks? Or use gasoline instead of water in cooling system?

    Something that would really be cool would be to try building a Lotta engine for racing or for a big turbo or supercharged

    I have an idea for that car. Two steering wheels. Each one controls the opposite tire.

    Run fuel in the cooling system of a vehicle with a bad headgasket. Try it for both Gasoline and Diesel engines.

    Now rebuild the burred car like a rustomod. Just put some clearcoat on the body parts and tectyl on the bottum.
    And you got an awesome car.
