What part of the movie, I’ll never forget is the part where our community rejected her, claiming that she wasn’t black enough that her songs weren’t black enough. There’s no black or white just music and soul. and Tina had soul ,she had that voice god what a legend. She broke so many first, and they will never be another like her.
Even Laurence Fishburne had to tell production that he will film certain scenes "once" so they had to get it right from the get go. He embodied Ike's personality and madness to perfection. Laurence Fishburne recognized that he needed to disengage the personification for his own safety and others involved in the filming. Only Laurence Fishburne knew the limits and character it takes to embody Ike, because he was fully aware of the dangers involve when channeling Ike's characters.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. One of Angela Basset best roles. She portray Tina Turner life beautifully. I hope you know understand her life and why she left the USA for swissterland. Powerful movie. Read her book and also check out her videos , interview on youtube there are so many. Another great role Angela Bassett plays is in waiting to Exhale. Laurence Fishburne is an amazing actor he can play any role but yes ineed you hate Ike Even more lol. Great reaction , im glad you loved it!
Tina's book : I, Tina is a fantastic read. When you read the book you will realize how terrible the abuse really was. Do go out and purchase it. You will be glad you did. It's a true story of strength and perseverance. I've been so lucky to see her in concert twice.
RIP Tina. And, yes the abuse was very real. My mother use to talk about Tina showing up at shows with blackeyes, back in the day, but the abuse was so commonplace back then that no one really saw it as a problem. Congrats on your channel I hope to see it grow.
I had such a hard time watching Laurence Fishburne in anything after this movie😩 . It’s not said enough but he did a remarkable job there, so did Angela Bassett of course. I heard that Tina was very proud of her interpretation. I watched this movie a very long time ago, but seing Tina’s appearance at the end now feels different. My heart 💔
"Ike was the bandleader but Tina was the show" - Janis Joplin She got the best revenge possible over Ike. She had a way more successful career without him and lived her best life years after his bitter butt was in the ground
There were no laws protecting battered women back then. Police were abusers too. Leaving is when the woman gets murdered. Leaving is the most dangerous time for her. Tina had a shellfish, materialistic mother who liked the money and wanted her to stay. Zero support system. Zero money to escape.
An Oscar worthy movie, with two Oscar worthy performances by Angela Bassett and Lawerence Fishburne! Waiting to Exhale was another Angela Bassett movie about Black women empowerment. Hoodlum is one with Lawerence Fishburne and the iconic Cicely Tyson. As far as music related movies, The Five Heartbeats is a classic. Nice review.
I used to play Private Dancer on a loop the summer of my 13th year. I had no knowledge of Tina Turner before that, but was an instant fan. I recall the variety of sound in 1980's music, so many great artists. I had no clue about her personal travails, I just admired her powerful voice. She's an incredible person. I became a fan of Angela Basset when I saw her in Strange Days in 1995, she had a great character but not as much screen time as I'd like. Thanks for another great reaction!

In addition to the fact Angela and Laurence should've won the Oscar in '94 for this... Laurence Fishburne said he rewrote the script because Ike was portrayed as too much of a villain and monster, and, having experience being abusive with his wife, he knew exactly what he was dealing with, and he knew the inside of Ike, and he did the best he could. I guess when you say he tried to humanize Ike it seems impossible, but it isn't... people like him exist in the real world, and that's human.... props to both Angela and Laurence, and may Ike & Tina rest in peace

Hi!! Sorry about that. I commented on this to another person. But when the channel got monetized, the video got blocked. So, I had to mute the sound via RUclips to get it approved. I hope you understand and you stay tuned to the channel for more content! 💛
I don’t understand why you block out so much for those on RUclips. On one hand I can say it’s because of the violence, but if that’s the case, why show/review it at all? Then you block out the last scene between Ike and Tina in her dressing room where there isn’t any violence. Why was that? I’m disappointed in this reaction as well as Apollo 13 where you muted the sound of a very important scene at the end. I’ve saved others to watch, but now am second guessing myself on it. Can you please explain why you did it this way to these movie reactions please??
Hi! Sure. It's due to copyright. If I don't mute, remove or hide the scene(s) RUclips blocks the video completely. On Patreon my patrons get access to the original edited videos with the original sound. Those videos become free on the RUclips release date (some older ones may not, if that's the case, let me know which one and I'll unlock it!) I hope that clarifies it. Thanks for watching my content nonetheless 😊
Oh and for Apollo 13, the song was in the original published video. A few weeks later the video was blocked for that specific song, so the section had to be muted. Thanks again for your comment!
Why would Tina say that all of his songs sound the same. I feell like this movie is a feminist movie made in the favor of Tina. Can we hear Ikes side of the story before we judge?
@@AlexxaReacts Yeah Ike Did Say that They Dramatized the Movie A bit And Said They Didn't hear his Side of the day Since the movie was based off tinas book But Of course it's a movie they're not gonna get everything right I mean they don't know what went on behind the scenes of their real life cuz Some people say that tina wasn't all that innocent herself as the media portray It was just a Toxic relationship and marriage
Exactly. Tina wasn't no punk or shrinking violet. She was always a rider. Tina put hands on people too men and women. When it went down on the road she was in the mix with Ike and rest of the band fighting their way out of venues. Ike saw Tina as a little sister and a wingman and Tina wanted Ike to be in love with her but he was never that physically attracted to her. She used to bring women to Ike before they got married and Ike didnt understand why she changed. So when she would pout about it or get pissed about his other women, that's when he would slap her because that's all he knew to do. Sometimes she'd fight back and sometimes she wouldn't. They were toxic together. He was troubled and emotionally stunted no doubt but Tina was not innocent or a very nice person back then either. You could blame it on her bitterness over Ike not loving her like a wife but even she said the movie was very unfair to Ike
Rest in Power Tina! She didn’t let him break her and once she left she got one of her biggest songs ever!! A legend. Well done.

Question Is Did Ya Watch The Color Purple Yet?
No, I haven't. But it's definitely on my list! I've been wanting to see it for a long time.
@@AlexxaReacts Yes Please React To It It'll Have Ya All In Emotions
I mean let me be honest if you don't mind there are some things in the film that are true and some of the scenes were fabricated if you don't mind me saying but overall you did such an amazing job with your reaction to it. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
I don't mind at all Ashley! I love reading what you have to say! Thank you for your lovely comment 💛❤️
@@AlexxaReacts You're welcome, love and if I had to suggest anything my girl Angela has acted in I'd suggest "Meet The Browns" because it will leave you laughing, it will make you cry, but more importantly it will move your spirit and touch your heart.
Adding it to the list!!! 💛

I can get you in touch with my sister she lives in downtown Toronto :)
Certainly! You'll find my email in the About section 😊💛
I had major issues with your sound disappearing numerous times 😢
Since this is based on her memoir and her life, it makes sense that the story is from her perspective. Thanks for watching Angel and for your comment!
I don’t care what she said that doesn’t give him the right to physically attack her. TF? 😡
@@LizMcC82 I said wtf I said. She was toxic, period
