Laurence Fishburne didn't want to play the Ike Turner role the reason he took the role is because Angela Bassett was playing the Tina Turner role and he had a lot of respect for Angela Bassett so he wanted to support her

FUN FACTS: Ike Turner passed away in 2007 at the age of 76 (cocaine overdose, plus high blood pressure and emphysema from years of smoking). Tina did not attend his funeral. Tina passed away last May at the age of 83 (high blood pressure and organ failure). Also Laurence Fishburne and Angela Bassett were both nominated for Oscars for this film. They didn't win but Angela did receive a Golden Globe award for the film. There was NOBODY like Tina Turner. Sexiest legs in music history! Rest peacefully, Queen Tina.

And I reading Ms. Tina's book I, Tina the movie was great 💯🎯. But I wish the director would've put more scenes in the movie WLGTDWT about Ike's abuse towards her. Because they couldn't put too much abuse in the movie. Because I don't think anybody would have went to the movie theaters to see the movie because it was a lot of abuse 😢.
