After the success of wiring up the dream stomp station for gigging in Music City, PG's video crew work with Scale Model Guitars' luthier Dave Johnson to construct a T-style partscaster with parts from StewMac, Lollar, Gotoh, VegaTrem, Hipshot, Gator, Art of Tone, and others. And afterwards John Bohlinger takes downtown to Layla's to test it out!

nice job BTW you have the cutest fiddle player
Nashville native turned midwesterner for graduate school here, but man do I hope I win this thing! Dave and Bohlinger are both awesome humans, and this Tele is killer. Great video!
Duuuval native who’s been to Nashville for 18 hours once. This is a cool video.
My first DIY guitar was a stewmac parts tele. Love that thing. It is the perfect platform for a frankintele.
That tremolo is so friggin clever. WOW!
Check it out: vegatrem.com/vt2-teletrem-telecaster-tremolo/
There’s here’s some videos on RUclips of guys in silent they tell you how you do it
I just installed a VegaTrem VT2nd and HipShot open gear locking tuners with butterbean knobs! Great additions to a Tele! Nice job with that one!
Awesome sounding Tele
At first i thought that was going to look terrible (because of the trem).
That VegaTrem bridge is actually classy and the only time a tele looked better with the trem. I thought it was gonna ruin a nice spec list with Lollar's and Hipshot's (basically a splurge build). Looks nice and that innovation blew my mind (no heavy altering your tele). You just run springs through the string ferule holes? The simple genius thing is right there in front of the eyes. I assume you can deck it if you tighten them enough, and the string are somehow loaded either through those springs or the the actual bridge somehow. Looks classic tele enough to rip "tulsa time" for sure.
I love a 6 barrel bridge. Have a 90s mim tele with one. Great feel
he's a great player
Great video John!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow awesome Johnny
Setup took more time than assembly. I think attention to detail is the secret ingredient. The performance with the band is great!
SWEET !
Sounds awesome. John always sounds awesome. I hope I win.
Oh hell yeah!
Tulsa Time, love it! Had to rewind to see that dive bomb, haha. Bohlinger is always so cool to watch. Cross my fingers 🤞🏻, hope I win it since I’m in the market for twangy T-style!
What a wild arm on that VegaTrem! Thanks for sharing the build video. Would have liked to have heard more about the specs and assembly (but I'm a nerd like that).

Very nice, John!
Glad you like it!
Sounds Great 🎸 🎶 ❤️
Rock on!
Should do series of folks submitting videos of doing guitar mods showing off cool tastefully clever builds for their function and vibe. It'll be fresh content.
Man I see you move that trem almost effortlessly. The one I installed is bit stiff, any recommendations. Thanks
Big John B. Is the man. 🎩😎
tele with a trem. be still my beating heart.
Please tell me PG is doing a rig rundown of Chris Buck in Nashville on July 15 at basement east!
It’s true!
He plays very intense
That appears to be a great T - close second to a Brent Bender. :)
How are you using that Battalion bass preamp with your rig??
Great video! All PG youtubers would do well with the occasional live performance. (:
So true!
Was John’s mic even on? 😮
Nashville tele with no middle pickup?
What model was the valvetrain amp? Sounded great!!
It’s a little 10 W with a 10 inch speaker. I love that thing. I have three Valve Train Amps and they’re all great.
I’ll definitely have to check one out. Thanks!
Ace Ventura forever
I want it! How do you enter?

Who is the bass player at Layla's?
Bobby Blackburn. Great player.
@@johnbohlinger , Thank you! I use to see him with 90's Proof at AJ´s - via internet, I´m from Brazil. 😁
?JB- is that a regular gig for you?
yup
His "modest" pedal board has 9 more pedals than I have!
Looks Kinda Like Phil X's Flipstick On iT. 🎸🎵☮️🌎🌏🌍
My question is….why are the body and neck from a Mexican Fender tele and not the Stew Mac kit they say it is and advertise? I followed the link and you can’t buy a fender branded kit.

@@premierguitar Ah. But those aren’t the links you shared in the video. Made it seem like you used a stew Mac kit when you didn’t. In fact, in the video you say nothing about buying Fender parts from Stew Mac, but reference their kit.
@@reddeckreallywinsDAMN! Busted 😂😂😂😂
little outta tune but that's an awesome geetar
Strings need some time to adjust!
@@ChicagoBulls1984 yep! That trem is probably stretching them pretty good. I play out of tune most of the time anyway lol
@drewcaster I play out of tune so I have an excuse why it sounds like sh;t
Jesus Loves You
How much for dee women?
To be a fender luthier all you need is a screwdriver
This seems so true!
As it was designed
Well actually I had a bigger thought. When you assign the words master builder or luthier to a fender to me its comical. Now if somebody cut down a tree and built a Fender style guitar that would be different. But all their bodies and necks are CNC.
@@elambassist it's true what you say "as it was designed". In the beginning the people working at Gibson were guitar makers. The people working at fender barely knew what a guitar was. That's not to knock anything all I play is fenders. To reset a neck on a Gibson or fix a headstock break a luthier is required. But anybody can screw a fender together
I built my own tele partscaster. Super light swamp ash, installed the frets and painted it myself. Everything came together just right and it's an amazing guitar. If I bought it from the fender custom It would probably cost me $3K or more. Fender is crazy. I couldn't build a Les Paul though.
can’t take any musician serious that rolls their gear
I wouldn't be caught dead playing a so-called "Telecaster" with Strat saddles on the bridge in NASHVILLE of all places..!!
Which is exactly why you would never actually play in Nashville.
@@Faded0811 totally, and I made the comment before I watched the actual video and those are not Strat saddles, I feel like an idiot..
That bridge was invented for telecasters
Bridge/trem was designed for (non-invasive - uses existing holes) on Telecasters & it's all about having fun! John has used it several times and hasnt' been run outta town yet!
Here's the product: vegatrem.com/vt2-teletrem-telecaster-tremolo/
@@Faded0811well shows how creative i am, I was about to say the same thing verbatim 🤦🏻♂️
Dang I thought you were going to build it. I don’t want it I’m left-handed
I’m sorry, but you overpaid for every part of that thing… the same guitar, possibly even better, could be built for under $300
Get detective work!
With modern prices, I doubt it. The most expensive thing is the luthier who put it together
Not wrong, but not for the reason you think. You and I would pay nearly 300 for just the Lollar pickups and close to that or more for a real Fender replacement neck. Now John being who he is which is a kick ass player, RUclips king and good human likely has little to nothing in all of it hence the give away.
Seriously? The trem is almost $300 by itself!?
cool story
