    Larger battery, smaller body, flip screen, high res sensor, upgraded autofocus.
    I still have my xt2 and couldn't be bothered with the xt3 or 4.
    THIS is what I've been waiting for.

    • @kamilpotato3764

      I got xt2 too. All what I'm missing is ibis like in my m43 Olympus. I'm hoping that second hand xt4 prices will go down soon under £1000 so I can afford one. No way I'll be able to cough up £1700 for xt5.

    • @balboa0621
      @balboa0621 Год назад +5

      @@kamilpotato3764 the xt4 is bigger and I don't like the screen. The size and layout of the xt2 were far more preferable. I have an xs10 and there are definitely autofocus improvements since the xt2, but that alone wasn't enough to upgrade.
      I had Olympus cameras in the past, but they blew it with the lack of a joystick, the flippy screen, and there switch to plastic camera bodies. The em5 original was a game changer at the time, but the new om5 is a dud.
      The xt5 brings it all together for me.

    THANK YOU. I've been so tired of seeing most camera reviews lean toward video features for so long, as someone who barely uses the video features, it's nice to see a camera and review that's about photography. I get that most of the reviewers are youtubers who are video photographers, but still. Battery grip? Don't need one as someone who takes stills, I can take the time to change batteries when need be, it's not a problem. Might at some point upgrade my X-T3 for this. I think the way Fuji does the tilty flippy thing on these is perfect. As someone who is relatively short, I use the tilting screen often when I do over the head shots, when I need to see the shot and can't reach the viewfinder.

    • @ALIENdrifter66
      @ALIENdrifter66 Год назад +2

      You can still have a battery grip if somebody makes it, it's just a simple BMS and some batteries, if you plug it into the battery main the camera doesn't even have to know what it's connected.
      The different screen hinge is nice, lots of people prefer the tilting screen, but Sony A7RV screen offers the best of both worlds, let's hope it becomes more popular.
      Nice to be able to choose between 2 different cameras with the same sensor but with this small but important differences in terms of usability

    • @ALIENdrifter66
      @ALIENdrifter66 Год назад

      @@bchia I'm talking about the battery so you can extend it and also to have a bigger grip for big lens. Grip controls can't be implemented unless Fuji decided to put some pins inside the battery compartement, which I don't know

    • @bchia
      @bchia Год назад +1

      @@ALIENdrifter66 I assumed that’s what you meant though I wouldn’t really consider it a battery “grip” without the controls. With a big lens you’d support the lens with the one hand and the other will need to press the shutter button, so the dummy portrait grip isn’t very useful unless you set a delay timer. But yeah there’s no reason a 3rd party manufacturer couldn’t make an extended battery pack if you just want more battery capacity.

    • @AllThingsFilm1
      @AllThingsFilm1 Год назад +1

      Fuji should have given it a new name besides XT5. The name suggests a hybrid camera, when its clear that the XT5 is a photographer's camera that happens to do video. Which is not what the XT4 was. They might make photographers happy, but, they cheat those who were hoping for new video features. Strange choice, either way.

  • @jroak

    XT2 & XH1 owner here. I do use battery grips, but not a deal killer. However they have saved me in one type of situation that doesn't involve camera usage. Some airports are strict with the number of loose batteries one can have. I've witnessed situations where airport security made people discard extra batteries not installed in a component. On one of my trips I met another XT2 user. Both of us had 6 batteries. I had a battery grip, he didn't. Security made him toss three of his batteries as each device was only allowed two loose spares. My grip counted as a component and my 6 batteries weren't questioned. Since that time any time I travel, I'll carry my battery grip even if I don't intend to use it.

    The camera is not deep learning while using it, because there is no automatic way with new photos taken to reward or punish the neural net for it. Maybe if you could afterwards give it feedback(infocus/oof), but this is probably too complicated for the end user and likely to harm performance if done incorrectly. They trained a neural net with the method called ´deep learning´. The neural net, after itˋs trained for all different modes acording to the needed subjects, will aquire focus like it‘s an algorithm for each specific mode, but probably a lot quicker and less prone to error.
    That’s very simplified.
    The camera looks good, i probably will sell my x-h1 kit, which is somewhat disappointing in the focus department and get the x-t5.

    Why do people say shooting yourself is a video thing. Video is not shooting yourself just like photography is not selfies. 3 way tilt is superior in both video and stills when not shooting yourself. It's not a video vs stills thing except for RUclipsr perspectives. And really it doesn't matter. Several manufacturers have the screen that does both so why isn't Fuji doing that screen.
    They screwed over their loyal customers with the x-h2 and 2s not having dials,and using marketing to pretend it's ok with this corner cut x-t5. I don't need 40 pixels, I want stacked fast sensor for faster autofocus, with better low light, and if I end up doing video I want the best options. I'm not stooping to a subpar outdated PASM workflow. If I wanted PASM i'd just switch systems. If you want to have better custom presets, actually do that right with *added* buttons and software like cinema cameras do. PASM does not excel in anything the way dials are strong with explicit adjustment, and the way cinema cameras are strong with custom workflows. Since they're taking away the signature experience for the top of the line, I guess the loyal customers that love the system for how it was designed can just fuck off.

    Will Fuji actually be able to supply enough of these for them to not be always out of stock everywhere? I'm not talking pandemic supply chain problems, pretty much the only two Fuji models you could get before the pandemic was the X-T30 and X-Pro3, the prior because everyone wanted the X-E4 or X-T3, the latter because of the polarizing rear displays.
    I'll be interested when an X100 comes out they can keep in stock so they don't cost 2k used. It'll prob be that new at this point with them claiming "NEW SENSOR HIGH RES" bull that isn't needed anyway. At this point an X-Pro3 with a 23 or 27mm lens is there same price and easier to get than an X100V. The new 35mm equivalent lens in the X100V is a lot better than the interchangable lens version along with other parts.
    If only OM would get enough money from their new overlords to make a new Pen-F that's weather sealed with the same internals as the OM-5 with the OM-1 menus like the 5 should have. I've had a lot easier time with OM-1 raw files than my X-T3, and the sample jpeg and raws from the OM-5 have been great too (should be, it's basically just an EM-1.3).

    The only feature of interest is the IBIS. But the lack of headphone jack makes it not great for video.
    Though the video specs are nothing to sneeze at.
    Sure you can use an external recorder, but thats just more stuff.
    Guess I'll stick with my XT3.
    Maybe pick up a used XT4 which will surely be dropping in price.

    Deep Learning does not mean the camera learns in use haha. Deep Learning is a method to train a piece of software before it gets shipped. So the only way for your camera to learn something new is via firmware update. The learning process itself is very demanding in terms of data needed and computation. So it is typically done on super computers. Imagine a kid that is stuck at its current level of skill until it gets an update. We are still at least a decade away from hardware that learns on the fly using neural nets. I' not sure if it will be any useful though. There is not only good stuff to learn. Learning how to not focus right and pi** you off is also an option for mindless machines :) That's why today's machine learning is supervised by engineers.

    Focus breathing compensation came out with A7SIII (OCT 2020) and still not available for the A1!!!! So I don't see the new focus stacking (A7RV) making its way to other models.
