  • In its continued commitment to offering the best in leisure bus travel, Greyhound Lines, Inc., the largest North American provider of intercity bus transportation, began unveiling its fleet of new buses designed to offer a more comfortable riding experience. The first of the 102 re-designed buses debuted on the company's New York to Montreal and New York to Toronto routes, with additional buses slated to begin appearing on the New York to Boston route by mid-April. Over time, Greyhound will replace the entire nationwide fleet.

What a beauty - modern comfort, but with a design that pays homage to the "glory days". I'd love to try one out.

Nice! One of the new ones like this drove passed me going south on the NJTP, a few months ago..Nice to see Greyhound stepping it up..Some of those old buses look like they're gonna tip over driving straight down the interstate..

those are actually MC12s, and they were built in 1994-1996. But yeah, they're "special" pieces of machinery. Most are pretty worn out these days.

Boltbus use the same buses as Greyhound with free wifi and leather seats. Boltbus is in fact part owned by greyhound.

@jimmyjam537 Seatbelts are not required to wear while on a bus. They have been added as an extra feature for the comfort of our riders. We do not know the status of seatbelt use on coaches run by other companies.

I'm curious...can someone tell me why Greyhound switched to Prevost from MCI? I used to see Greyhound use Van Hools across Michigan.

The vanhools were valley transit busses and they switched to prevo because bad relations with mci

Since the 2009 Prevosts were first to have the seatbelts I do expect more likely all new bus orders will come with seatbelts. As far as the drivers area. I did see the 2009 Prevost X3-45s have USSC driver seats with detachable shoulder straps which I do not recall seeing in use by Greyhound drivers. I believe the MCI DL3s have shoulder straps for drivers but Im not 100% sure. And the D4505s I believe possibly have driver shoulder straps as many D Series coaches have them except commuter coaches.

Why not have a couple of rows at the front with three wider seats per row that give the passenger a bit more legroom, a wider arm rest and maybe a drop down table? I would happily pay a 40 or 50% premium for something like that.
My partner recently had to travel from Kamloops home to Vancouver and rather than endure 5 1/2 hours on a cramped crowded bus it was preferable to book a seat with Air Canada instead at 5x the price. A premium seat option on the bus would have been a great alternative!

One of the biggest disappointments, in my opinion, is bus service. I've traveled Greyhound in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, this past decade and now this second decade of this new millennium. Buses used to go to small towns and now I have to drive 5 hours round trip to pick someone up from the closest bus station. In 1990 Greyhound had over 4,400 destination, now it is less than half. Walnut Ridge, AR has a train station, but no bus. Go figure! So, I take the train. What's up Greyhound? :(

What happends if the drives suddenly wants to take a dump ? Can he stop the bus on the road and use the passengers toilet or will he only use the toilet at the greyhound bus station ?

Seasoned drivers preplan. I assume that in an emergency the driver would pull to the nearest restroom.

you shouldn't have wasted so much time on the outside of the bus. The real experience is on the inside of the bus when you are sitting there for two days straight. Show off your new improved leg room and all the outlets that you supposedly have. Nice though.

CONT'D....last time I used GH, I was never told to put ANOTHER tag on my bag. The lady at the ticket desk put one on it which had my destination to where I was going and where I was returning. I thought that was sufficient enough. On my trip back home, my bags got left in another city because I did not tag it again. Nor was I told to. The station where I came from didn't even have tags. I went up to one of the employees for help and he was the rudest sob I've ever met and said it was my fault.

@txbadboy68 People like me? When I ride Greyhound I have the utmost respect for both the drivers and the fellow passengers on the bus. BTW, you don't even know me, so why make such an ignorant comment? I was just telling the truth. You don't have to be a problem person to make their attitude spark towards you. I've experienced there attitude for no reason whatsoever.

The Greyhound Bus line in Memphis, TN SERIOUSLY needs to get its act together. Not only do they have some of the RUDEST, most UNPROFESSIONAL staff and drivers, they do not know how to update new information on their websites (like the recent new location) nor do they ever answer the phone at the ticket desk when you have questions. They either give inaccurate info if any at all. People who don't use GH often are supposed to have ESP and know exactly what to do. They tell you nothing. Idiots.

I stopped riding Greyhound after my last trip about 5 years ago. The service was so bad I swore I would rather walk then ride Greyhound. I think a requirement for getting a job at Greyhound is you have to be rude and uncaring. Now I need to get to a place that doesn't have train service. Flying gives me headaches and I don't like flying either. I was thinking of trying Greyhound again but am scared to death after my last horrible experience. One driver actually threatened to put us off the bus if we even talked quietly. She also told us we couldn't put our bags on the floor. The bus was so quiet you could hear a rat licking ice and she still complained to another driver at one of our stops. He got on the bus and yelled at us and told us it was a privilege to ride greyhound and we should act better. I was done.

While it isn't and MCI, nevertheless Greyhound stuck to the tried and proven design philosophy: Maximum luggage bin space, no useless tacky overhang front and rear, underfloor integrate air-conditioning and heating. Manouverability may be enhanced by steerable tax axles. No overhang means greater stability and handling. Something european coaches don't have. Also the 7 clearance lamps front & back means the coaches is fully visible at night by other road users.

i hate the fact that Greyhound doesnt let you know which buses are new when you purchase your ticket. im a loyal Boltbus rider but I couldnt find any reasonable tickets for thanksgivin holiday so i tried Greyhound. I thought i would be traveling on the newer buses. the greyhound website advertises the new buses for trips from DC to NYC yet when I got to the station it was one of the really really old buses with ripped up seats. I will stick with Boltbus. Greyhound failed big time!

No cheap and ugly looking european preying mantis mirrors the stick out in front of the coach just waiting to be snapped off. Instead this coach has the proven cannon mount mirrors.
2 piece windscreens are easy to maintain and don't crack when you look at them like nasty 1 piece windscreens do. Also Detroit/Allison powertrain combination. Proven time and time again.
