    I remember riding the models before the New look. When I grew up the school board hired the Montreal city buses as school buses.

      When I was going to School, they where using the Brills with the window coming down. We heard that a kid had his head out the window and it came down on him. Next thing you know, the Montreal Catholic School Commission used the Yellow Busses. I'm not sure if the accident had anything to do with it.

    San Francisco Muni had a fleet of 1969 GMC new look buses, as a boy I loved the sound of the engine, and riding them

    Looks like fun! I was a regular bus rider on the Houston "Metro" system from Monday, January 7'th, 1985 until Friday, March 24'th, 1989; additionally-on the various San Francisco Bay Area bus systems-including the BART commuter train-from Thursday afternoon, April 20'th, 1989 until late July, 1996. Fun, sweet memories!

    I'm glad you enjoyed the video. They are beautiful buses and run very well. It's nice to see this history preserved. I wish I could answer the colour scheme question for you, but unfortunately I am not very familiar with the history of the STM. I'm hoping someone else might be able to jump in and answer here.

    Where's the even older Rosa Parks type of bus with the brown and white trim with the rounded end? should have one of those, I rode one when I was like 5, probably the last one in service.

    Saskatoon use to have gmc new look busses. in 1997 they retired the ones from 1964 1976 and we kept the ones from 1977 1982 until they retired in May or June 2013 except for unit 371 a 1977 New Look it was repainted back to its original 70s yellow roof army green side livery to celebrate 100 years of Saskatoon transit that still sits in the bus garage today they are keeping it for an antique sometimes they’ll pull it out to take pictures. And then they kept unit 400 the 1982 new look that was the last one in Saskatoon and they retired it in February of 2014 and we never saw that bus again

    blue shemes came in in 1974, all buses before got gradually repainted in blue, exept for the older ones.

    I bet had the STM kept their New Looks, they would still be running great today while LFS from 2002, the year fishbowls were retired, would be good for the scrapheap.

      Funny you say that, i remember as a kid Timmins Transit bought all these used buses from toronto back in the early 2000's but yet those kept shitting the bed and they had to bring the old GMCs back out. They were still running them up until around 2010

    Just like the Prius hybrid cars seem to be mandatedly (enviromental regulations sound familiar?) 50 year old cars, so it sees the crappy low floor hybrian plastic computerised buses are replacing these oldies >:

      I can’t stand low floors! Those are what I call fake busses! Take a car if the bus is too much of a workout!!! I’ll do the same when Im old!

  • @daveyboy_
    @daveyboy_ 6 лет назад +2

    Both of those busses are amazing. I can go on for hrs about how the buses in MTL Suck nowadays . Every single thing about them. In 84 the new buses were an upgrade. Then these nova buses. Talk about a downgrade. 3 57 . Now THAT is a city bus

    I see a Classic RTS Bus in the Historic Fleet, the RTS was Not Really Welcomed in Canada, that's why GM of Canada Kept Building the Fishbowls till 1986, Cause Canadian Transit Systems Craved the Classic Fishbowls & Santa Monica, California's Big Blue Bus Received the Very Last 27 GM of Canada's LAST BUILT FISHBOWLS (5153 to 5180).

    Please explain how this is "HISTORIC" ? they are OLD buses. I fail to see your use of the word "historic" I have some really old towels can I call them Historic? no I just call them OLD TOWELS

    • @fares-please
      @fares-please  5 лет назад +4

      Steve Dwyer Everyone sees things differently and I can understand how some may just see it as an “old bus”, but to others these models represent a lot more than “just an old bus”, but a revolutionary design in the industry.

    • @15140Productions
      @15140Productions 2 года назад +1

      Unlike your towels, old buses are part of the history of their respective city, hence they're historic buses.
