This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 Honda Accord Hybrid sedan. With high gas prices, the overlooked mid-sized hybrid might be the answer. With an impressive 5L/100km, 48 MPG in the city and 5L/100km, 47 MPG on the highway, it’s a great option as gas prices continue to climb. What’s under the hood? A 2L 4-cylinder engine with a hybrid system and an E-CVT, a combined 212 horsepower, FWD only. The adaptive damper system, which is standard on the top trim, allows the car to have a comfortable drive in normal driving conditions but more firm and precise cornering when in sport mode. The Honda Accord Hybrid is a stylish and sleek looking sedan and comes well equipped with slim LED headlights, LED taillights and 17” wheels, available 19”. There are two trims in Canada and four in the US with a starting price of $37,370 CAD/$27,320 USD. Some standard features in Canada include an 8” touchscreen, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, a 10-speaker premium audio system, heated front seats, a power drivers seat with lumbar support, a manual passenger seat, heated steering wheel and Honda Sensing technologies. In the US, the base model Hybrid comes with wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto but wireless is available on all other trims. The top Honda Accord Touring trim in Canada for $44,090 CAD has ventilated front seats, driver seat memory, a power passenger seat, heated rear seats, perforated leather trimmed seats, a moonroof and 19” wheels. In the US, here’s a quick breakdown of the trims and some of the features available. The Honda Accord Hybrid Sport for $30,670 USD gets a gloss black spoiler, sport mode, 19” wheels, and a power driver seat. The EX-L trim for $33,640 USD gets a wireless charger, heated front seats, a power passenger seat, driver seat memory, leather trimmed seats, the10 speaker audio system, a moonroof and parking sensors. The top trim for $37,190 USD is where you’ll find ventilated front seats, navigation and a head-up display.

We bought an '18 Accord hybrid and love it. We have had zero maintenance issues. Lane watch really helps I wish they had a left lane watch camera as well. When merging onto a busy highway from the left for example Hwy#6 southbound onto the 403 westbound at Hamilton, the right side camera helps a ton as many drivers slow down in front of you while you're right shoulder checking - the camera is very handy. We get 4.8/100L summer and 5.4/100L winter. Driving in town is mostly EV mode saving a ton on fuel. The trunk is huge and with rear folding seats I carry 8-10' 2x4's no problem trunk closed. Tons of acceleration, great ride, quiet cabin, and legroom throughout. Glad you did a review guys!

Great review! Couldn't agree more on the notion there might be a whole generation of people who have never known the greatness of a sedan over an SUV or crossover, or that it's been so long since some people have driven a sedan that they don't even know what they're missing. We're a family of five who only drive sedans. Much more fun to drive, stellar fuel economy, comfortable on long trips, ridiculously large cargo storage that's actually useful; Who really uses any of the area above the headrest level in the cargo area of an SUV? Yet, those SUV cargo numbers are deceptively large on paper compared to their car brethren. Every time I see a crossover I can't help but think that it's nothing more than a hatchback with a lift kit - and that the owner was slightly conned. We've been comfortable in a Manual VW Mk7 GLI for 3 years, but will probably go for the size upgrade in the Accord Hybrid Touring before the year's end. And hats off to Honda and others who haven't given up on sporty family cars. It's up to these manufacturers to steer the market back to cars.

I'm one of the weirdos that bought the 2019 Accord 2.0 with the manual, it's been a great and problem free car. The long wheelbase makes it a great ride, and the rear seat legroom has been helpful because I'm tall and normally people can't sit behind me. This hybrid looks great and I expect the hybrid to become more important going forward.

I have the 21 in the EX-L trim. When I went car shopping in Aug of 21 I actually went to test drive the 2.0 Touring. My brother-in-law had purchased the 21 Hybrid a few months earlier and told me to test drive it to so I did. I test drove both and the hybrid blew me away. It’s so quiet and the gas savings are way better. I’m in FL so I get better gas mileage at 52 mpgs (plus I don’t drive like a maniac😊) it’s highly under rated. Plenty of room and the car is very smooth and realizable. It had been on the lot since Dec 2020 so I actually got a discount which is unheard of these days. This is my 11th Honda and by far the best.

In Ontario the Accord hybrid is not actually available. I put my name in at 3 dealers for notification on when they will be available again. Have not heard from any of them in 6 weeks. The factory is no longer taking any more orders and no dealers seems to know why. Also, it is disappointing that in Canada we can only get black or white with black interior. Lots of colours available in the US.

I will always buy sedans over crossovers or SUVs. Some of us aren't enamored to the higher riding vehicles. In fact, cars are going to get lower again as more EVs hit the market. The Accord here looks great. The fastback look is growing on me but I still prefer the previous generation styling more. The interior is grown up and looks semi-premium. The car just works well.

I own a 2021 Accord Hybrid EX-L. Mileage is consistently 48-50 MPG. It is a great car overall, with lots of space, good tech, and comfortable seats. Nice cornering in Sports mode for such a big/heavy car. It gets loud when accelerating which was not that obvious during test drive and it does bother me a bit. I wish that they had left in the lane watch camera and that they had a better placement for the back up camera, as when it is raining drops of water dripping on the lens blocks the view a bit.

Thank you and great review as always. Honda reliability and nice interior.
Not too thrilled about the exterior , it seems that the front part of the car is not in harmony with the back !
And, it has this Crosstour' reminiscence !
Also, I believe it comes only in black or white, which is odd,
and certainly a height adjustment to the front passenger seat is needed in 2022,
at least, a manual knob or handle.

They designed the current Accord for the American market. That means they had to make it ugly. Why do they do this? Why oh why? We buy Japanese cars because of their Japanese-ness. Thanks for another great review. Always refreshing to see a sedan review given its a shrinking segment. I love Honda. Accord has always been my favourite mid-size family sedan, hybrid just makes it more competitive with the class leading hybrid family car, Camry. Its more spacious than a CR-V, handles better than a CR-V and even looks better than a CR-V. I only hope Honda will put AWD, even reactive RealTime version, in the Accord. Given the success of Altima with only AWD standard. Civic is perfect for my needs and wants, I will drive them into the ground. And I did consider HR-V and CR-V before my purchase decision.
Can you please do a review on Camry or ES250 AWD? I have only read reviews on US C&D, haven't seen anyone reviewed them in Canada. Even better on Altima too. That's despite both are nearly the end of the current lifespan. Thanks.

I wish the manufacturers didn't always give every reviewer the top trim of every model to review. The interior noise level of this Accord Touring Hybrid is so much louder than the other trims, and the fuel mileage is so much worse, because of the Touring's 19" wheels. Andrea is dead-on correct here. The EX-L trim is the one to get.

I hate SUVs, not to mention I'm single and unmarried so I wouldn't need one anyway. The Accord is great in every aspect. Handling, visibility, interior, and trunk space. On highways for work purposes, I hover around 77mph/stay with flow of traffic, sometimes 83ish. I’m typically not on the highway for long stretches (15-25 min max) before it’s city driving where I recoup the mpg. On highway road trips, I’ll get 42 mpg at 79 mph on cruise control, in case you were wondering. I have a 2022 EXL trim. Oh and for fun I did 85-95 mph for 40 min following my brother in law, in sports mode and I was getting 35-36 mpg.

No seriously, there has got to be something more wrong with this car other than the height adjustment on the passenger seat? Surely it needs a rear window wiper, chrome door handles or maybe different alloy wheels. And what happened to the night views of the dash and the car lite up at night? I think your just getting all around lazy.

Great review as always. I have a 2013 Accord Touring since 2013 with over 200k klicks on it. It still a pretty good car. The starter went at a little over 100k but other than that it’s been dependable. It’s hit many potholes and one so hard it actually bent the rim and the tire went flat and I’ve never had to have it lined up nor replace any wheel parts like ball joints etc. It often sits for days in very cold weather and starts first click. Personally I’m not a big car fan per se and have no love or brand loyalty for any manufacturer including Honda but I will say that the 2013 Accords were a pretty good car in my opinion based on my own experience so maybe this one will be reliable also.

You always say "Look where people aren't shopping"? How about looking for an old 1990s beater? There's plenty of them out in the wild and you'll save a TON of money by driving an old car. Everyone is shopping for a brand new car with mint condition paint, but if you really want to save money, buy an old car with faded paint because it's the real way to save money. I have a Saturn SL. I paid $1,300 for this car, which is probably less than the down payment on this Honda! I only burn about $50 of gas a month. Best of all I have NO car payment. Any amount of money you think you're saving on gas, you really aren't saving anything since you're also paying your monthly payments for a new car + interest. The interest alone is going to cost you more than what my entire car cost me! And I have a tape deck!!

Hmmm.. I'm in Vancouver as well.. Have a 2007 Accord V6 Hybrid since 2009.
It has 275 (?) hp The car Is Ok.. Bit cheapish in decor, which is a bit tacky looking most like a JVC Ghettoblaster styling...typically Honda though.
However the fuel burn is High. So much for lower fuel costs it's simply Not true.. Despite claims.
Battery pack has a ~7 year life span !!! Think on that for a moment .
Costs ~4000$ to replace with an ...Aftermarket... one ! Gawd knows what a Honda pack costs.
I keep mine because it has almost NO resale value. Caveat emptor Kids.

Problem is what dealers are pricing them at.. had my 2016 touring serviced last week .. dealership had a hybrid touring priced 8k above MSRP.. Ive always paid 2% above invoice for my cars.. but over all my 2016 touring is a much better car and a V6 which gets me 36 to 40 mpg fwy and about 24 city..

I have a ‘17 Accord Hybrid. After about 3.5 years/85,000 miles, the hybrid battery started to deteriorate. Since then, I’ve lost 20% of the fuel economy I had. It’s been a great car otherwise, but just remember all batteries have a life span.

    • @Dobr3967
      @Dobr3967 2 года назад

Also, Honda hybrid systems work best at non-interstate speeds. These cars have a sweet spot of 45-60mph, that’s the best driving for the stated fuel economy. At interstate speeds, be prepared for about 35 mpg at best.

The crab taillights miscounted f grill and terrible rear quarter window shape hurt it compared to other midsize cars.
Actually the coot cat civic sedan looks much better.
