Special thanks to Erik for highlighting the good ole Energizer headlamp. I’ve owned many throughout the years. The are simple and affordable. Most importantly, they typically are an on/off style light, which makes quick operation on and off again simple. The fancy multi mode, multi color lights are great, but I get tired of 12 clicks on, 13 clicks off, accidentally turning back on, nope, need it off, 11 more clicks, opps, one more, ok now it’s off. Give me the $10 Energizer for basic night use.
Headlamp, contractor trash bag, 550 cord, cheesecloth game bags (you guys may have just changed this) 2 skeletonized fixed blade knives and a small towel/rag. I keep it in a utility pouch that I can attach to my pack or belt. Comm, extra batteries, flashlight, and primary headlamp, etc. stay on my person.
If you carry any replaceable bladed knife it’s a good idea to carry replacement blades too.The Buck 110 might be heavy but the blades don’t snap like the thin Havalon/Gerber blades do against bone.
Headlamp back up knife small 3 inch folding knife two kinds of fire starters a small round candle orange trail marker tape and an emergency whistle and my buck knife
Combustion kit: - 2 lighters, steel wool, batteries, chapstick, headlamp, flashlight, ferro rod, cotton balls and a flask of 100 proof moonshine. Containers: -2 industrial trash bags (double as emergency pancho or temporary hip waders/game bags), (10) 1 gall ziploc bags(1 of which filled with 20 blue paper shop towels and hand warmers), water canteen, and a 1 gallon jug to urinate in (if stand hunting). Cutting Tools: - (1) 6" Victorinox semi flexible boning knife, (1) 3" fixed blade Cape knife, (1) 4" bone saw, leatherman wave multi tool (on my hip), (1) 8" folding saw, and small sharpening stones packed in a raw leather sheath (which doubles as a leather straup). Cordage: - 25' of 550 para cord, 50' of 3/8" braided rope (900lb working load), duct tape and electrical tape (wrapped around my lighters, canteen, flash light, and flask), small amount of bailing wire, 10' of fluorescent pink survey tape for tracking, and zip ties (for tagging). Miscellaneous: - Asprin, Tylenol, chewing tobacco, scent control, attractant, food etc.
I also keep a sheet with me. It makes a clean surface to lay meat on while I'm field butchering. And rope gets tied to a tree and used to hold legs up like a 2nd set of hands while I'm removing meat.
Eric I too have a knife I carry because of sentimental attachment. It's an old Western fixed blade with a scimitar shaped high carbon blade and stacked leather washer handle. Dad gave it to me when I was 14 and I've carried it for going on 40 years now. No idea how many deer and elk I've gutted with it. A LOT!
My kill kit: Knife Silky Saw Surgical Gloves Plastic Bag (for heart and liver) Headlamp Zip Ties (for attaching tag) First Aid Kit Packable Rain Jacket When elk hunting late season I add: Fire Starting kit and emergency shelter All of this fits in my tiny AGC Stalker Hydration Pack. I can strap additional layers to the outside of the pack as needed. I don't understand the need to carry a full size pack frame everywhere while hunting. At the most during elk season I may take my Camelbak Day Pack but I'd rather keep it light and simple.
Here’s what you guy’s need a knife proof glove for your not skinning knife hand. For safety they weight nothing and cost very little. I have had some close calls with friends helping skinning Caribou and Elk when tired. Everyone should carry one.
I carry a silky saw in my pack for if I'm brushing in a blind I might throw up in the field that doubles as a bone saw... I carry a Lionsteel M4 fixed blade that's made with phenomenal steel that after cleaning a moose in Alaska it was still shaving sharp. I also carry a case trapper, a knife sharpener for the case knife and a few big trash bags and/or those cheese cloth bags to pack the meat out in... of course I have my EDC pocket knife and I carry a headlamp and flashlight in my pack along with paracord and small tarp for if I need to throw something up while processing the animal... I normally go in a little heavy on gear because I've been on hunts that gear has failed or I thought I wouldn't need it so I didnt bring it and I hate having to make do with the wrong tool for the job... But knives, saw, lights, sharpeners, paracord, tarp, and bags is what I have on me on every hunt I go on unless I'm hunting right by the house or my truck is very close... Great video as always keepem coming guys!!
I don't have a kill kit, I hunt behind my house. If I get a deer I bring it out to the field, walk the rest of the way back and grab whatever is needed. If I had a chance to hunt elsewhere I'd make something up quickly.
Mine is more like a survival kit because when I’m hunting, it sometimes turns into long distance hiking. Ive got a good backpack. I wanna make sure regardless of what situation I get into, I’m covered. I have a radio, two flash lights, extra batteries, bone saw, cheese cloth, two game bags, gloves, compass with magnifying glass, 550 cord complete first aid kit with tourniquet, two knives, hi vise marking ribbon, pocket stove with a small pot, pan and utensils. My complete kit is about 5lbs.
Live to watch all the videos and il day dream of Al the cool stuff and when il go Hunting i just stuf 6 bullets in my jeans grab bij gun baseball cap a knife and toilet paper and im of lol

That's a great idea!
Cant forget a good pen and zip ties for filling out and affixing tags
Back in the day it was buck knife some bankline and cheese cloth or a bunch of large pillow cases
Torch, blade, game bag, that's it for me.

Sentimental items certainly do make the best gear :) That is super cool to hear!
My kill kit:
Knife
Silky Saw
Surgical Gloves
Plastic Bag (for heart and liver)
Headlamp
Zip Ties (for attaching tag)
First Aid Kit
Packable Rain Jacket

Fire Starting kit and emergency shelter

@@mojomike3913 Right on! Seems like a super solid list.

That's a great idea to keep in your kit!
Good idea. A good friend of mine who’s cleaned hundreds of deer nearly lost a finger 2 weeks ago because he got in a hurry
@@danielboggan2479
The added benefit also is when skinning a animal they have a lot of grip on the hide vs a bare hand or rubber latex glove.
@@danielboggan2479 Ouch!
How did I miss this podcast.
I carry the same buck knife. It was my uncle's so it's got sentimental value to it.
