- Randy Newberg has been getting a lot of questions about what he brings in his field kit specifically when it comes to elk. Well he has a pretty dialed in system that he tries to keep as barebones as possible.
In this video, Randy goes through everything he needs to make sure he is prepared to properly and legally tag an animal, quarter it, and pack it back to the truck. Depending on the type of hunt, his exact choices may vary. But he goes through multiple scenarios whether for a day hunt or a backcountry hunt where weight is more of a concern.

When my brother took me on my first elk hunt 1976 we used king sized pillow cases and cheese cloth to bag quarters 😁
For gloves we carry the ones like you do but also a pair of veterinary o..b. gloves they are shoulder length and also can be used temporary to bring out the heart and liver.
I know the struggle, I am allergic as well. I usually don't carry enough Benadryl. Great video as always.

I use those gloves as well, in addition to a sleeve that pulls up your forearm, price of those gloves have sky rocketed since the Covid thing. But like you I have an allergy to the hair, if it gets in my eyes I pay for it big time.
I have baby wipes in my pack as well. Nothing beats them for cleaning up afterwards.

I thought only sissy’s used rubber gloves until I had a bunch of hornets attack my bloody hand. That thing swelled up like a grapefruit with in 30 minutes of being stung. It made boning out that deer pretty unhandy. See what I did there?

Learn. Nobody is gonna spoonfeed you. Randy already hand holds too much and helps the back country get crowded too quick.

I ordered the EBS knife. Was hoping to use it this season but after a week of not getting an e-mail of it shipping I contacted Gerber and was told they cancelled my order and the product wouldn't be available till next year.
