A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin. Boutique Edition. The solid silver dial is coated with an ultra-thin layer of shimmering copper-blue goldstone. Thousands of copper-oxide crystals integrated within the material liven up the deep blue with their playful reflections and sparkle like a captivating starry night sky, just like with the meteor shower in summer, whose name is derived from the Perseus constellation. This is the supposed starting point of the Perseid meteors. In fact, the meteors don’t come from a faraway galaxy, but instead from a neighbouring planetary system. As it orbits the sun, the earth collides every year in summer with fragments of the 109P/Swift-Tuttle comet, which is just 26 kilometers in diameter. The particles burn up when they enter the atmosphere, thereby creating countless shooting stars. The technical name of the comet sounds almost like a calibre designation. The calibre of the Saxonia Thin is L093.1 and it conceals the flattest movement from A. Lange & Söhne. With a diameter of 28 millimetres, the manually wound calibre that is finished to the highest standards and assembled twice is just 2.9 millimetres high. The 39-millimetre-wide white-gold case is also relatively flat at 6.2 millimetres high. The thin hands and appliques made of rhodiumed gold match the colour of the case material, and a dark-blue leather strap with solid white-gold buckle rounds off the elegant look.

a stunning watch from one of the best watch manufacturers and proving german is a match for its swiss counterparts
The only “counterpart” is Patek Philippe… the brands are eye to eye… what you should know though is that PP manufactures 70.000 watches per year and ALS only 5000 …

Hello I just saw your video on my watch. lol I just love this watch, I just wish it was waterproof. When it is raining outside I dont wear it because I worry about damage if water gets into it. I have had lots of Rolex and sold them all because I ADORE Lange and this simple watch in particular. I like a time only watch because I have no need for anything else. BUT I have to say... a Zeitwerk would be great fun to have but how MUCH is the service on it when it comes time for it ? Not to mention ... if there is a problem.... WOW ! you would need ALOT of money to pay for the repair. I have always liked a man sized watch and I am so glad they made this sparkly jewel a big size. I think a man or a woman can wear it. Thanks for doing a review on it. Its really a lovely piece... front AND back ! I LOOOVE Lange ! Please do MORE with them.

I always thought this was a man’s watch. In fact I know someone who had one who works at a multi brand authorized dealer and he has one.

I have a 35mm saxonia small seconds amd I love wearing it. I’m a man and have a 6.5 inch wrist. It’s phenomenal and the size, even though small, looks very elegant on the wrist.

I had a request in to my Lange AD for one of these. I thought it would be impossible to get but she called me and had one about a month ago. I bought it. I also got another Lange watch strap in black since I thought the blue one was too much blue for me. It was pricey. Your comments are pretty much the same as my thoughts on this one. Some day it will go someone in my family. Probably the only girl. I hope she puts the blue band back on it. And, I hope she thinks of me some times then.

bought it in 2020 before the boutique nonsense and ridiculous prices started……yeap, strap is weak, had a matt blue/grey and a beige made

Amazing looking dial. Certainly a great present for a woman though perhaps 39mm and 45mm lug to lug might be too big for some. That said, I’d rather have it myself - I feel 39mm is the ideal ‘Goldilocks’ size for a male dress watch. Not sure about the finishing on the case, is it mainly brushed? Seems a little lacklustre but maybe it’s so it doesn’t detract from the dial. Great review. No meteor showers visible here in London obviously! Shame.

The finish on the case suits me. It is hard to fault Lange’s taste. It does seem to run a bit fast, but since it is a very dressy watch I won’t be wearing it every day and I may let it run down between times wearing it.

If anyone is interested about the price in the UK, it's £28200. Got this figure from the Lange boutique in London a couple of weeks ago. Guess one can do a rough conversion for Euros.

I would wear it, no problem. Nice man's watch. It's gorgeous, and I am Speedmaster / G-Shock kind of man. It's kind of sad that I have to choose between A. L & S vs VC, but money, you know... Ideally one must have them both. And JLC, and GS. I must stop before going too far :-)

Alex, subscribers understand you have relationships with brands but it would be nice if there was a more of an objective view rather than only talking about the positives. Everyone knows no watch / brand is perfect and would appreciate knowing what the flaws are. Its not a crime to talk about the negatives.
@@UserKR13 there is nothing negative to talk about… this ALS is as it is perfect… tell me: why shall I invent something negative? …. Price adjustments of Swiss brands are due to the strong Swiss Franc … and ALS is following the given “trend”
@@WatchAdvisor you are being protective over the matter that ALS and other Richemont brands have significantly increased prices recently. Rolex and Omega increased too, yes but well under 10%. It has little to do CHF increase especially because ALS is German and the vast majority of production activities take place in Germany + explanation for the price increase directly from someone from ALS is that they want to protect their labour force to avoid other brands taking them, but still doesn’t justify the huge increases. This particular model is a several thousand euro increase but models like the Zeitwerk MR increased by about 80,000 euros in one go. Please put yourself in the shoes of the customers / viewer. You do call yourself “watchadvisor” afterall. I have been watching your channel for awhile but I don’t think I have ever heard you say anything remotely negative about the watches / brands you review. Your channel so do whatever pleases you - just letting you know what watch enthusiasts including myself think
One of my favourite watches but I'm afraid with all the games and QC issues with Lange idk if I'll get a Lange. E.g. this is boutique only so probably have to buy another Lange to get the chance to get this. Also sadly the same with their Chronos

Superficially or overall, the JLC Master Thin Moon with its blue dial comes very close to this watch. Of course I would wear these L&S too, why not? Luckily it doesn't have a date window, it just performed perfectly.
A. Lange & Söhne definitely plays in another league! The only watches that come close are those from Patek Philippe…
I don't give a shit about the movements, and I'm particularly not interested in L&S movements; I think Glashütte Original and JLC are nicer. I'm interested in the time and therefore the dial, or are you wearing the movement? And I talked about the overall impression when wearing the watches. Furthermore, the movement is just as simple as an ETA movement, only better finished.
I like JLC but it's out of bounds comparing their moon phase watch to this dial...
