Great tips! could you make one about how to take the fall when catapult? meaning what to do when feeling catapult and when already being catapult. Cheers, thanks!
Ben, always a great pleasure and very informativ. Thank you very much !! - If someone has a real floaty, stylish and fluid SURFstyle, the TAKA is a must have move while rippin waves, and the FLAKA is mandatory in flat water conditions as well. Both moves are very similar technical windsurf maneuvers ... but damned hard to learn especially for us older folks. Would very much love to hear and see some real helpful PRO TIPS ... WAVE & FREESTYLE. - Muito obrigado !!!
For me a lot of wind is the key. Discovered floaty jumps on small medium waves, and the strong wind turns you into an elevator when you keep your body grouped.
I noticed that as well. Usually when I'm sailing 4.2 or 3.5 on my local lake, I only need a small ramp as take off and get more airtime than a big ramp with my 4.7, because the wind is pushing me up so much
No one mentioned the chop hop movement before reaching the ramp for an extra height! Maybe Im doing it unnecessary, and taking extra risk as it makes easier for a nice catapult!
I always thought that what you do with the board is very important. Angle the board so that it acts a bit like a wing and lifts you up. That way you also have a softer landing in my experience. I'm surprised that almost nobody mentioned this. I mean it's pretty clear that you don't want the wind to push down on your board. So obviously you have to try to achieve the opposite.
How do you trim the sail like a hang glider like that? i.e.: How do you maneuver so the sail stays horizontal? It seems to want to tip forward or back...
Speed... you have to be going fast. Otherwise, the wind controls you. To do a big floaty jump you need to be really powered up and be going fast. Think of it like a hand glider... if it was windy and you just jumped in the air you'd get blown backward and it would be super unstable. If you run you would get better lift and forward stability
@@WindsurfingTV I love how making pretty much everything work in this sport comes down to "more speed!" The evolution in kit has been optimized to the point where it doesn't know how to do anything else...the best kind of monster.
Its like flying a plane: lift off landing gear (feet) up flight tight with some discrete corrections to maintain heading and Flaps out plus bleed off (sail closed) for landing. Aaand keep the board at an angle that the wind always blows into the low side (waterside) of the board sayin‘ it musically ruclips.net/video/WuM25U42tiQ/видео.html
Love all of their T-Rex mimics when explaining keeping your hands close together! 🤣

Floaty jump...for me get the slalom gear out...speed and power

I would agree... to get max height you've got to press into the ramp! ...without good connection on take off you wont max your height!

Totally agree 👍🏻
How about some tips on old school, old man freestyle. Flat water carving stuff. No specialist kit required.

what means floaty jump ? ( what is the difference with jump)
adammaj1 it’s a bit more ‘floaty’ 😁
It’s a jump which you get ‘Float’ from the wind holding you up in the air.. usually performed when really windy.
@@WindsurfingTV so it is long ( time/ distnce) or high jump
@@adammaj1 yes 👍🏻
That mic needs a hair cut.
Maybe I can steal some! :)
