    You know a lot of people are in the windsurfing industry now, and in the past. But I can honestly say that you have done more good for the sport than any other - in my tiny opinion. Thanks for all the great videos over the years. And more so these tutorials/skill improvement motivation type stuff. I can't wait to go and try these.

      100% agree with you. I was lucky to meet and talk to Ben during PWA event in Denmark some years back. He is super cool guy. In this channel I dont have any feeling that my skills doesnt belong here. I am still probably worse than majority of riders in video. But everything I see is achievable if I will just have more windy days.

    Had a very happy rotation through a micro back loop today so I've renamed it a Ben-loop , B-loop, and finally "Bloop" from now on.

    Excellent explanation! Not like most mega backloop how-to vids shot at Pozo or Klitmuller that look terrifying to try. May even work on bump ‘n jump of a steep chop. It’s windy today...gonna give it a go. Thanks Ben!

    I've searched the web all spring to see if it's possible to do a really flat and low back-loop on the tiny waves I have at hand in northen Sweden.
    And then this video appears.
    Thanks!
    Just fresh off the meny.

    Good tips Ben. This is what I've found has helped for me.... I've more or less got the technique on port tack but never had it good on starboard (which is why I started doing pushies). But something I discovered this year is that going for one handed smallish backies can actually be way easier than normal ones. For some reason using the harness gives you a way more consistent rotation. I heard freestylers saying one handed flakas are easier, so its probably a similar reason. Cheers!

    Very interesting. Back in the early 90’s I landed a lot of back loops, large and small, but never like in this video. I was mostly on chop in the Gorge which might be great for these. For my low ones, I carved into the wind, at the apex the board was effectively vertical at which point I would look hard over my shoulder, twisting my shoulders to follow my head and dragging the board around with the boom. Most of the time the board would land fairly flat and just a hair past dead downwind and I would have to aggressively sheet out to get the clew past the eye of the wind.
    Now that I’m re-addicted to windsurfing, partially thanks to this channel, I’m going to have to try this style… when it warms up.
    And many thanks Ben for your part in getting my life “back on track” and for all the helpful tips as I try to get dialed back in. :-)

    Thanks for all great video tips, Ben! Been happily trying these micro back loops - not too intimidating and lots of fun even though I’m still far from landing them. Normally, the last thing I see before taking a dive - nose of the board going straight into the water. Today seem to have gotten better rotation, but found myself above the sail and ended up with a face plant. In your video sail seems always above the sailor, so that shouldn’t have happened. Trying to figure out what I did wrong...

    Great! Had a few tries yesterday (before this video was out) and what happened to me was that when I hit a steep ramp, I looked over the shoulder and could see the water, but the board wouldn't turn, or at first it started to turn the wrong way, and then it was not time to get it around, so I fell on my side.
    What I did with the rig, sheet in/out, close or far away from me, that I don't know... The wind was maybe 20° onshore, I think I jumped pretty much straight into the wind.
    Can you make some guesses what I did not do right?

    • @WindsurfingTV
      @WindsurfingTV  3 года назад

      I really need some sort of video.. but could be your hand wasnt back and front hand too close to the front of the sail. But it’s not that simple need to see what you are doing with board on take off and sail angle etc

    • @WindsurfingTV
      @WindsurfingTV  3 года назад +3

      Interestingly if you look at the small back loop from the insta360 cam.. my front hand moves back on the boom at the top of the rotation. I actually didn’t realise I did it.. but it’s to get the rig forward (body weight back a bit) again just think about landing you body will do stuff you don’t realise!

    • @niclaskarlin
      @niclaskarlin 3 года назад +3

      Looking at the video again, especially the freeze frames and slow motion helps, I think I had the rear hand too far forward, and sheeted in, leading to that the wind could not get "under" the sail, and thus not initiating the rotation.

    Hey Ben, this is really helpfull trick (tip). I love your "slow down" and "focus on landing, you will land" approach !!! So far I am exactly like you said I just send it, without even considering landing.
    In some "extreme-ish" conditions when I am afraid to jump and wave is big so I cant go around I rather try backloop, because even without landing it is somehow "softer" then not doing anything and just fall down + plus it looks cooler from beach hehe :D
    Do you think its OK to try with 107l freeride board with 6,3 wave sail on lake? (its my light wind [5m/s+] gear, so straps are at the sides of board - do you recommend to change its position to center of board?) btw I will probably send it no matter which setup I will have
    I dont have much days on my waveboard :(
    Any answer from more experience fellow surfer is much appreciated :)
