An Eclipse on a Budget!! || ESP LTD EC-256FM Demo/Review - Видеоклипы
Bro telling me a Draco is a fuckin glock, take this man in the fuckin house. He don’t need to be outside 😭😭💀
@@jHounder lol not everyone wants emgs
Learn 2 Crawl Thats a lot of extra work for the average player.
They’d just want stock stuff
@@audiovisualclubstudios3867 there are versions with SD And Dimarzio
Right!
@MJRegul Not sure what the point is. I bought a $500 Epiphone LP from Sam Ash, and it was awful. There were several instances of fret sprout, the intonation was awful even after a proper setup, the fretboard was rough, the frets were rough and uneven out of the box, there was a ton of hum on high gain on the bridge pickup but not the neck pickup, both pickups were very dull and muddy, and the pots were scratchy when turning. I returned it and got an LTD 257 for $450 and didn't have any of these issues, and the stock pickups sounded better.
"Save up that little bit more for a EC-1000"
I'm not sure about the US, but in the UK its around double the price so... wtf you talking about.
It's 3 times in Turkey
Yeah here in Australia it's even more than double in some cases
Yeap in Malaysia it’s nearly 3 times the price
Easily twice the price if not more in USA
In Brazil, 2.5 the price. And the 256 due to taxes, it's not cheap.
"just buy the better one" nice review dude.
ikr🙄
@Wadsworth yeah but. Like what year charger?
This guitar is definitely not for someone who says "just for $300 more" - your suggestion is pretty much twice the price, many players will probably have a lot of trouble to pay $400, for some reason we have multiple price ranges nowadays and not just medium-high and high-end stuff. Asking a teen, for example, to "wait a bit more" to get extra $300 likely means to wait 2 or 3 more years - let's not forget not everyone can dedicate all of one's time to guitar, someone who can and wants to play NOW and that is living in the period of his/her life with the most spare time shouldn't be told to wait longer! Possibly after 2 or 3 years they'll be in college or working their asses and won't be able to play it by the time they get the nicer EC-1000 for "just" 300 more dollars! Play it now, it's an hell of an instrument, if it ever feels like a bottleneck you can just sell it, plus if you buy them used (they show up for sale all the time) you won't loose much if any money afterwards. Compare it instead to equivalent instruments, such as Epiphones, that for the same price suck a lot more in quality while this one has good quality all around, also it feels a lot better for a LP style guitar.
Very well said
I made $1000 in 3 months by working my ass off to build my PC. In all honesty, there is no excuse.
@@emoemi948 Youre dumb as fuck lol
Exactly.. it’s like saying $15000 car but for $9000 more u can a navigation and a sound system.. 🙄
I buy great used guitars in pawn shops.Because I work and pay bills,it is definitely harder to save to buy a guitar 1000 or more.I’ve even put guitars on layaway which is awesome for a guitarist who can’t afford a guitar for 800 or higher and to pay right away.
Because who the hell would pay more than 500 bucks for their first guitar
no one....
@@mr.rjryno5274 yes
@@juliusnisonen2431 actually thats not true....i paid 1000 for an rg7420 quite awhile ago and then lost it to a pawn shop for 200.
@@mr.rjryno5274 ouch that must hurt
@@juliusnisonen2431 lol yeah actually it did, for a long time too....but i finally got redemption. Bought 3 new guitars in that past couple months, including another Ibanez, so i feel back normal again...
A few years ago I bought a EC-256 just for fun. I upgraded this guitar and put an EMG 89 in the bridge.. I absolutely love it now! Somehow this guitar is magical to me.
Because I'm poor, that's why.
:'(
Considering that the extra $300 for the 401 statistically makes it 75% more expensive than the 256, that's actually pretty understandable.
Like he said, it’s definitely worth saving the extra money for. I just bought a 401. It’s usually $700. I just waited for a sale and got it for $500
The 401 doesn't come in a finish i like. So I got the 256 see through purple flame top. Ill throw some emgs or duncans in it and it will be fine.
i can relate
You can't say for "just" $300 more on a $400 dollar guitar. That's almost double the price. It's a good intermediate guitar. But then then to say triple the price for a deluxe? I don't know where your money comes from but that's alot of scratch.
Agreed. I am a total beginner, and could only extend my budget to get this EC256, as I need to get a decent amp that is gonna cost more money. Coming from a 3rd world country, where this thing now costs almost 480$ US, it's quite expensive for an entry level guitar.
"Why would someone buy this guitar?" Four words: SEE THROUGH PURPLE BURST.
Great Demo, as usual!
two more...Cobalt Blue
Three more... Dark Brown Sunburst
And the See thru black.
I happened to buy one in purple while in my local shop and it is indeed f**king sexy as hell
@@LegalJEP amen, that’s why I’m buying one. If only they had a gray burst...
Just ignore this guy. This guitar is pretty awesome for those with limited budget. Just buy it!
Not true, I have this guitar and it’s pretty bad
@@kaiju4914 well a fuckton of people say the opposite
@@mcdonkey500 who?
I did!
@@kaiju4914 it’s a great guitar, I have a les Paul studio deluxe and I’d rather pickup the 256, it’s really not a bad guitar lmfao
I have an EC-256 in Metallic Gold which I use as my backup guitar - my main guitars being an ESP Eclipse-I CTM and an Edwards Explorer (both MIJ) - and the 256 is absolutely insane value for the money. Solidly built, well finished, and with excellent playability even when compared to my Eclipse. The tuners aren't the best but I don't find them to be nearly as bad as you do - perhaps your tuners just weren't the best ones out the factory? Either way, they're easy enough to upgrade. The stock pickups actually sound great, as you said, definitely good enough for live use.
The bottom line is: as a first guitar or a backup, or any situation where you just can't warrant spending more than £350 or so, you can't go wrong with the EC-256.
EC-256's are arguably the best guitars available (with HB's) in their price range. From my experience, they are superior to competing Epi's in roughly the same price. Of course, a bigger budget allows a superior instrument however, price is the determining factor. For single coils instruments, Squier Classic Vibe models are great options.
Ec 256s are £450 in uk. And EC 1000s are around the £1100 mark. So saying just a few hundred more is like not respect the viewers who are probs on a budget tbh. This guy seems a tad arrogant about having expensive guitars thrown at him to review so when it came to this, he couldnt give it respect.
Well we have determined that the strings look good 👍 I'm sold haha
I actually love those pickups. I bought a covered set of 150's to throw in a low budget Jazzmaster project. They split really well. As for the tuners, that's to be expected.
My question is, for this price, why would you NOT get this guitar? I got mine about five years ago, back when they still had rosewood fretboards. And it is still going strong til this day. The pickups sound amazing for the price, the construction is well done. (You get binding on the body and neck, AND a carved top.) Two humbuckers with coil-tapping, a set neck joint, a solid feel.. And I got mine for $300 on eBay. It’s hard to beat a deal like that. You get so much for your money. And if you’re a skilled player, you can make it sound beautiful. Worth every penny. No questions.
I ended up buying my 256 on a whim at the Guitar Center in El Paso on a work trip for $150 brand new. It was on the clearance rack and when I saw the price I expected there to be an issue but none were found. I have a standard series Eclipse and 3 EC-1000s, and the thing I like about my 256 over the others is the weight. After I addressed the nut issue and put in a spare set of EMGs I had laying around it plays like a champ.
Dang I loved that tune, awesome work and great review, as usual. I enjoyed the comparison to the other price points a lot.
I used to be pretty traditional regarding finishes and colours for electric guitars, but when I saw the EC-256FM on Cobalt Blue I fell in love. Now I gotta get one!
Accurate review!
I owned an EC-500 for 10 years until the frets died.
I don't know why they shifted to 401, 256, etc.
I owned two EC-1000, the 500 was always better! Sentimental point of view I guess.. :)
I'm in love with that finish. Wish it was available on the higher spec models, particularly the FR eclipses.
I got one of these because I don't care for active pickups, great video!
Same here.
I own this guitar and i can easily say it is a bang for your buck....such an amazing guitar and i highly recommend it!
Haha, you know, I think if LTD didn't make the 401 or 1000, I would have no problem recommending this as a more affordable option to the E-II Eclipse. It's their own fault they make guitars that are even better bang for buck (in my humble opinion).
Thanks for the info! I was looking at this one, but will now check out the EC-1000! Cheers!
Try and find a used one on Reverb! They're everywhere and you should be able to get a good deal on a used one in good condition
I love it when someone has the honesty to say “for just a little more $$ you can get twice the guitar” - thanks.
Thanks for the video, I learned a lot!
I don't work in music or gig, but have been drumming and jamming with friends for 15 years. I picked up this guitar when my friend recommended it to me as a good general purpose instrument that I could learn on and keep enjoying/upgrade once I reach a decent level of competency. It's been a lot of fun so far and I'm looking forward to the time when I'm good enough to feel like I should upgrade the internals
The last thing I'll say, I had absolutely no regrets about buying my cherry sunburst until I saw that gorgeous Cobalt blue, damn
I have a Chinese made EC-256 and I love it. It is a really nice guitar that stays in tune.
The newer models of 2018 and more recent have a lot of great improvements. I had a 2016 that was a boat anchor, had sharp frets and terrible pickups. I just picked up a 2018 for $300, the new ones without the model name on the 12th fret, and the frets are butter and the pickups are much better. Its also a light 6.5 pounds. It is a contender against my Gibson LP. I picked it up as i found it way better than all the PRS SE's and low cost Epi's I was playing at GC that day. IMO they have had a major improvement since moving the production to China. Just my two cents
Just ordered the cobalt blue. That finish really caught my eye. Cant wait to use it in my band
I just bought this guitar for 299 at Sweetwater. I am super impressed with it. It looks and plays great. I can't believe what quality you can get for such a cheap price these days. It just wasn't that way when I was a kid.
I do love your channel Agufish, but I think you're wrong on this one. Not seeing the reason why you'd buy this guitar when you can get the 401 for *only* $300 extra is kinda dumb.
Do the math. $300 doesn't sound like much on it's own, but that extra $300 makes the 401 a whopping 75% more expensive than the EC-256. Looking at that statistic from the perspective of a poor person, that's a massive difference. I would have no financial problem whatsoever for paying that extra 75% more, but I know plenty of people that might.
That's the trouble with statistics and percentages. You can make anything sound as bad or as good as you want. When it comes down to the raw numbers, it's $300 straight dollars. As I mentioned in the video, I know $500 (or even $300) isn't just throwaway money, but if you think about $500 being the difference between something that's just OK, and something that'll last you the rest of your life, it still doesn't make sense to me to pick the 256.
Or we can put it into percentages. I think most people would only keep this around for about 10 years until they could afford something better. So if you're 20, and let's assume you die at the average mortality age of 80, you're getting 50 more years of guitar which equates to a 500% increase lol. In general, I don't really see a point to these interim guitars. They're not super cheap, so they're not that great bargain mod platform buys like a Harley Benton or a Bullet Strat, and, in most cases, they're not good enough to last when you start playing better guitars. It's just money that you could have put towards a pro-level instrument. Even if you end up selling it later down the line, you're not getting all that money back. But, as I said in the video, these are just my opinions.
I genuinely appreciate you taking the time out to make your point clear dude. But for a lot of people, $500 being 'not throwaway money' is a major understatement. That's sometimes more than what some people have for their disposable income for an entire year, or even longer.
It's easy to say that people should just wait and keep saving, but there comes a point where saving up $500 takes so much time that it's just not realistic to do so. Let alone saving up the $400 that's needed to buy the EC-256 in the first place.
Some people just cannot reasonably afford that extra $500. You can say that getting the 256 is a false economy, considering that you get so much more with the 401 or the 1000 and that it'll last you a longer time, but a lot of people are forced into that false economy because they simply cannot afford the better long term option. That's just the reality of their situation. By the time they scraped together that money, they could've quit playing guitar out of the frustration of waiting.
Yes! These are the types of conversations I love on RUclips. Respectful and well-thought out; not the usual "fuck you", "no, fuck you".
I totally get what you're saying. To be fair, I guess I should have said "if you can afford it", you're better off with a higher-tier model because they're better bang for buck. But as someone who does live cheque to cheque, I couldn't ever bring myself to buy an EC-256 because it isn't great value for dollar. That is, unless I needed a guitar right now and $400 was all I had to spare.
Thanks dude. I try and send thoughtful responses to people that I think are cool. :)
I shall use this opportunity to ask you a question: Do you think that Gibson are ENABLING these Chinese sweatshops to make Chibsons? Think about the number of people who buy Chibsons and then upgrade all the crappy pickups and hardware with Gibson-branded parts. All of those expensive upgrades end up being money in Gibson's wallet. Do you think that Gibson are aware of people doing this and are actually ALLOWING these Chibsons to exist so that people will continue to keep buying Gibson parts and make them money?
What are your thoughts on this conspiracy theory?
Also, has Simon ever thought about playing guitar since you started letting him 'review' them?
I don't think they're really "allowing" them to do it, but they might be making the most of a situation that's honestly out of their control. China IP and copyright enforcement is an absolute joke. They're getting better, and cracking down in certain areas, but as a whole it's still trash.
I've talked to Rob Chapman and the head of Michael Kelly about the Chinese market, and they're both having problems because people in China have registered the Chapman and MK trademarks and are selling guitars that look identical under the same name... with no affiliation to the original companies lol. The Chinese government doesn't see any incentive to crack down on that particular market.
But as I said, I think Gibson is making the most of a bad situation. Most of the Chibsons that come out of China are trash. I've been to some of the factories in Weifang and Guangzhou. Most, if not all, of the workers aren't guitar players. They're trying to copy pictures off the Internet. If you get a good one, you're lucky. I think Gibson realizes that if you get a Chibson, at least for the time being, it's not even close to a Gibson in terms of feel and playability, and you'll be left wanting even more for the real deal. (And by Gibson, I mean like like a proper Gibson, not that Firebird Zero or M2 nonsense).
Bought this guitar and installed Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient pick up. Unreal guitar for the price. Super comfortable and playable. Highly recommend checking out
Great review, cheers!

You can get EC-1000's off Craigslist or Guitar Centers used section for like $450-550 all day.
That Cobalt 256 looks killer though.
Extremely helpful bro 🤟🏼😎
I completely understand your philosophy with the saving up a little more and going for the 401. I just had the opportunity to pick one of these up open box blemished from MF for $240...
I couldn't pass up that deal. I can upgrade the pickups with the savings if I want to. Thanks for the hard work man, so helpful to see and hear unbiased reviews on these guitars!
I just ordered this guitar in the lemon drop color and some Grover imperial tuners. Pretty excited, my first electric ⚡️
I've played the 256, 400, 1000 and ltd iron cross and they all kind of have a different vibe. The 256 had a vintage vibe. Very woody tone. 400vb had a 70s vibe. The 1000vb was very modern and you could tell you were holding a well made pro esque guitar. The iron cross had a vintage-modern 70s vibe. Brighter than the rest. Person the 1000vb was my favorite. That is an inspiring guitar. I was playing things I never played before and it was super solid. Like you could take a sledgehammer to it and it would keep on truckin
Finally! I have this, but the standard one, not the Flame Maple. I love it to death! I can understand saying that the higher priced models are a better value, it's just a lot of people don't have the money for them. I know I don't. Hell, I could barely afford mine on sale, and I only got it because my Epiphone SG broke. I'm sure the higher end LTD guitars *ARE* a much better value. Personally, I think the tuners are fine, but maybe I just got lucky.
I think this is a better as a mod platform, personally. I'm gonna put some EMGs or a Black Winter in it soon. I'm also going to put better tuners on it, probably Grover locking tuners or something.
This guitar absolutely BLEW my SG out of the water. Call me crazy, but I think this played a LOT better than my buddy's real SG or Les Paul studio.
Great video man. I was the 700th like! 😄🎸

You too mate. Congrats on all the hard work and excellent content. You are the premium hard rockin' channel on here.
can you review the Gibson custom shop line from 2015?
EXCELENT REVIEW!! THX VERY MUCH!
This channel deserves to have so many more subscribers, from the demos to the actual review every thing is just top notch, and the work that's clearly put in during the demos at the beginning is awesome, not enough channels put this amount of effort into a video. Awesome 😎
Seems pretty comparable to a decent Epi LP. I dig how it sounds, I just never really cared for how ESPs and LTDs played, but I'm a Fender guy so, I guess that's to be expected.
Simon's logic is pretty lols
I have two 256 relic gold-tops.
LOVE them.
The only other LP-style guitars I would consider are the Edwards '59 & Jimmy Page models.
Great review - and I kinda need that purple ec-1000
"For only $300 more"
I have the lemon drop and love it
Yes I did some fret leveling, but all in all a great guitar for the money.
I recently bought a ltd MH-100 for something like 350$, just to upgrade it and see if it could compare with the ltd 1000 and 1001 series. I changed pickups (the same LN150 than on this EC256) for a pair of SD Distorsion, and also put locking tuners (Harley Benton locking tuners, just 50$ and work very good). The guitar already had a very good feel, and now it also had a big sound and stays perfectly in tune for half the price of a ltd MH-1001. Of course, you don't have an ebony fretboard and the body of my MH-100 is made with basswood, bit I like basswood. So, to answer your question - and I'm absolutely not getting defensive ;) - I think a reason to buy this guitar could be to upgrade it and make it feel closer to a EC 1000. Thanks for your video and your thoughts ;)
I heard that playing lemon-drop finish guitars gives you the same health benefits as putting lemons in your water...can you confirm?
Just licked it. Feel sick :( You've been duped
#fakenews lol. So to actually contribute to the comment section, may I recommend a demo of the Ibanez SIX6FDM or the ESP LTD EC-1000CTM with Dimarzios for your consideration? The former is an Ibanez you may like and the latter is LTD's take on LP Customs.
I bought this guitar a little over a year ago and it slowly crept up the roster and now it's the only thing I play. I don't even pickup the other guitars that I've got which are much higher end. Something about this one just feels great. I swapped the pickups for the Slash signature set and put Gibson knobs on it. I would've bought a higher end Eclipse if the same finish was available. Only similar one at the time is the one with the sparkle binding which is a tad much haha.
In a direct choice ignoring price between this and the Harley Benton sc550 what would you pick?
If they were the same price, this. I prefer the rounded Thin U neck shape compared to the HB's D shape. But for the money, the HB is the better buy. It's cheaper, feels better quality in my opinion, and the frets were actually nicer, too.
Thanks man. I know the HB is a great guitar for the money, I was just curious to see how it stacks up against those guitars that are a bit more expensive. If a €250 guitar is feeling like better quality than a €370 guitar that's a good sign. I wonder how the SC custom is, it's essentially HBs take on the plain top of this for €200.
Expect this question on every generic singlecut under $600 you review.
@@agufish you contradict your self dude, like wtf
Cool video man, that's a nice looking fiddle. When you demonstrate the various pickup positions it would be cool to hear individual notes as well as the strumming patterns, even just a pentatonic run up and down, just to get a feel for how they sound. Keep up the good work!
They're good reviews, for the most part, but the demos themselves would benefit from a player with better technique and a greater range of musical taste. I don't think he knows that there are frets above 7, or 'individual notes'.
Paul B Not necessarily man, he's a well capable player. He has played "solo" type stuff in other vid's, I just think it would be good to expand a bit on the pickup position demonstrations, and not with blistering scale expansions, just simple pentatonic patterns that display another side of the pickups.
"He" is using frets above 7 in this very video, and "he" thinks you're coming across as a bit of a dick, Paul.
Agufish this response was great
Ayyyyy :D Nice vid wish i went with this as a starter guitar rather than my aria xD
Hey anybody knows the reason of the weird blue cord he puts on few of his guitars? Is it about string tension?
I tried EC-256 once and didn't like it. The 14" fingerboard feels wider than 12". The fret wire, although the spec says extra jumbo, is different than the one on E-II. It is shorter and narrower. Lastly, the binding on the fingerboard isn't rounded. It feels sharp and bites into my fingers. Maybe the EC-256 that I try is a lemon or factory reject.
I have an EC-1000 and an EC-256. Love them both. Lately however been hitting the 256 more. I haven’t modded it but just like the feel more for some reason. I have to agree though that the 1000 (and even the 401) are major upgrades. Still at a loss why I am playing the 256 more. Smh. Carry on.
Went to guitar center the other day to buy an EC 256. While I was there I tried the ec 401. I Definitely felt like it was worth it to buy the 401 instead for the extra cash because it’s sooo much better quality. I agree completely with what you said
This just calls for a EC-256 vs SC Custom video :(
Oh and nice Slash impersonation!
In the UK, EC-1000s are nearly £700 more and 401s are about double the price, so if you just want the playability of an EC model guitar then you will need to spend a huge amount of money more.
yeah I totally agree, I don't know who made this guy review guitars. he doesn't know how to review a guitar.
Damn that was a super catchy demo
The tone on this guitar is awesome man
The Marshall DSL100H does wonders with guitars that have relatively muddy or bass heavy pickups. It's got such a strange voicing with spikes in the highs and upper mids, so compared to my other amps, it brought the most out of the LH-150 pickups :)
You must be really love round single cutaway shapes...🤔😀 nice taste!

Nice buy! Yeah throw a nice set of pickups into a guitar, it'll generally sound good. After that, that's where the feel and build-quality comes into play. :)
I’ve had/have an Ltd ec-100, ec-401v and an ec-1000. The ec-401 series is excellent quality for the money. I got a 401v with Dimarzio pups for $349 used in mint condition! Used ec-1000 Koa top with Duncan’s and a hsc for $499! All were excellent quality, value and playability! I’ve been wondering about these? Thanks for the vid!
So what is the best budget LP guitar for a beginner, just for learning at home? sadly I cant find the harley benton sc 550 in my country. And the EC-256FM is still a bit expensive for me to start with :/ I would like to play hardcore/metal mostly xd
Harley Bentons are only sold out of Germany, everyone outside of Germany has to order them online, but I believe Thomann ships worldwide!
Had one few years ago was great after full setup managed to tame that very dark bass tone on the bridge pickup then sold it !...EC1000 one day soon
I'm looking at getting this guitar to completely modify and upgrade the hardware and electronics. This is one of the few Eclipses in the LTD range with 22 frets. I'm not big on 24. I think it's a solid guitar to gutshot and make your own. I like that the Eclipses are lighter than Les Pauls but they still give off the same tonal sound. I'm not big into having two tones so these guitars are great. I am upset about the traditional heel joint, but that's something I can live with
I found an EC-1000 Deluxe in a pawn shop here for 450 bucks. They wanted 560 for it but I talked them down because at first glance, I didn't think it was in very good shape. When I got it home, I couldn't believe the deal I got. What was making it look rough was only a layer of dust. The thing was in brand new condition! Not a scrape, scuff, or ding on it whatsoever! Absolutely beautiful guitar! The way it felt, sounded, and played was amazing. Probably the last guitar I'll ever buy. I'm sold on Ltd guitars. So much that I bought an LTD f-155fm walnut brown 5-string bass last weekend. Also an amazing instrument. Love your reviews dude!
A good buddy of mine just gave me this guitar to thin out his collection. Man I must say it’s a great guitar sounds great! I have very expensive guitars and this guitar plays like one.
omg that purple eclipse... amazing.
How does this one compare to a harley benton like the sc550 or the cst-24?
Sounds great
Best guitar for the price. Ive owned 2. Wish i still had them.
Thanks for another thorough review....would you be willing to review the new Jackson SL4X (in Daphne Blue of course) when they come out at the end of March. I'd love to see you put my future potential purchase through the paces....
hey Hunter I need your opinion, EC-256 or Yamaha Revstar RS420. help me. I own a Classic Vibe 50's Strat and I need a humbucker because I'm playing heavier stuff now. I love Ibanez too but I need no Floyd Rose. thanks Hunter.
New logo is mint 👌
The question I have is, as an upgrade platform is it worth the cost of Pickups, nut, bridge, and tuners on an EC10? Starting at the ec10 you could get SD’s, graphtec nut, good bridge and tuners and you would just be hitting the price of this guitar.
Can somebody guide me as to how this compares with the Vintage Lemon drop playability, intonation, quality control, build quality etc. and for blues and rock/ hard rock
Quality fucking content. Love to see your vids show up on my feed
Which guitar to buy Esp ec 256 or HarleyBenton SC custom? which one is good out of the two,,, please don't consider price aspect.......
You hit the nail right on the head when you said "plasticy". This guitar looks so perfect on paper, but as soon as I picked one up, I immediately said "YUCK!!!" to the plasticy feel of the finish, especially on the back of the neck. I'm curious to hear from the people who own these if that sticky plasticy feel smooths out a bit after you play it for a few months or if you just wind up having to sand it down to get rid of that???
I have the FM model of this guitar. Never had a problem with tuning. Only because I stay in D standard. And it's not even set up. Btw if it's not set up, you'll have to deal with a little bit of fret buzz (for me it's only on the 9th and 10th fret) and you'll have a really hard time with harmonics on most of the frets. Changing out the pick ups and a nice set up will make the one I have be superb!
Sounds sick through that DSL
Yeah, I have the last generation DSL. It has kind of a weird voicing on the Ultra-Gain channel, where it's kind of spikey in the upper mids and highs, so it actually works really well with pickups that are normally a bit muddy
Agufish I love how it's voiced to sound more modern. Modern guitar tones have really stepped their game up.
Quick question
would you prefer this guitar (ESP LTD EC-256FM)
or a Harley Benton SC-550?
EDIT: For all you guys who are getting defensive about your EC-256s, remember I never said they were bad guitars. In fact, I did say they were decent guitars, but in my opinion, LTD's higher offerings provide far more value per dollar in terms of feel, playability, build, quality, hardware, and tone (even compared to an upgraded EC-256). If you can afford it, my recommendation is to save up a bit more for an EC-1000. Again, that is just my opinion, and as we all know, guitar is a very subjective area. :)
Serious question, though. Have you heard the new Machine Head album, yet? Just started listening to it a couple of days ago, and I CAN'T STOP.
Agufish Well, off to spotify I go, then… :)
Agufish I’ve heard bad things about it across the board so I’ll pass
Been working out to it for a week now. I concur Sir, it is bad assness...
+Adam Cogan so you're just writing it off without listening to it yourself first? Uhhhh ok lol. You do you, man
Ha doesn't this just some up the world these days..
I don't know where you get the info from, but whenever I do a Google search for "blackwood", the first that comes up is that it is just a different name for Indian Rosewood (Dalbergia Latifolia)?
I mean, factories that still has supplies of b-listed rosewood wood can still create guitars with them, they only need to specify when the wood was imported and when it was chopped down. And of course what species it is.
Just got the see through purple sunburst model today. Amazing guitar for the $. As far as why someone would would get one. Well I don't have the cash for an ec1000 at the moment so next best thing with the color i liked was the ec256. Set it up, new strings, etc..plays amazing for a 400 dollar guitar. The flame top is wonderful too. I will be putting in some Seymour Duncan's or the emg het set. Now to save up for that new Ltd kh purple flake. Since I can't afford the real esp versions of anything right now lol. I'm in love with anything ESP/LTD. The quality and playability just feel better, in my opinion, then a Gibson/epiphone. Only other guitar I would get over a real Esp is a Prs custom 24.
$300 doesn't seem like a lot extra for the level of upgrade, but when you're talking on a $400 guitar it really is a good bit more. Point taken though, if you think you can get the extra money do.
Let's say you only have $700 for a guitar, amp, cable, strap, picks, strap locks. You can't get this, and have 3 bills for a Boss Katana 50 and have enough for the extras. Or you could just spend it all on an Ec 400. Which one makes more sense?
Do the higher quality EC's also have the same push/pull tone control?
Boutta pick one of these puppies up next weekend for 150 bucks, the really sweet See Thru Charcoal one. Homeboy's dog knocked it off the stand and it broke off the headstock, but he paid close to 175 for it to be professionally repaired, so now it's good as new. A steal if you ask me
Would you do a review on a epiphone les Paul 100? That was my first guitar. Changed the tuners to plain old Grover’s and the pickups too Seymour Duncan jb-59 set.
You changed your logo! And you replaced the firebird zero with the Kirk Hammett signiture! About time!
hahaha people were getting confused, thinking it was an endorsement for the Firebird Zero....
I'm currently using an Epiphone Lespaul Special ii.... Will this ltd be an upgrade for me???
Hey man, love your videos, Keep shredding and test gear forever!
Now to the point:
I have basicly only heard bad or "ok" things about bc rich and would love if you could test out a warlock model, preferably a lower end like a mk1.
Pros/cons, an ok beginners guitar or just a waist of hard earned cash?
It looks amazing but is that truly the only good thing with it??
Kind regards from Sweden.
Kim Bergström would be cool, didnt they just switch ownership/factory? They revamped their line, I believe.
Kioni Hernandez i got no idea.. Sadly
Yeah, from what I understand, the brand is managed by the same folks who run the budget Ernie ball line, and those are pretty good bang for the buck, so hopefully bc rich can turn around their faltering reputation.
Ahh, I love LTD guitars. I'm mad they replaced one of the 400's EC from a couple years ago, it was a Flamed Maple, Seymour Duncan loaded beast (just looked it up, it was the EC-401VF). In fact it's the guitar that made me start liking LP/EC shaped guitars. I tried it at an expo here in Argentina last year when I went to check out the Victory Amps Kraken and it blew me away. They need to bring back that guitar. Seriously
Daddy fish I need your help. I am stuck between the 6505 mh, evh 5150iii lbx head or the jet city custom 22 for my first tube amp. Now I am a massive parkway drive fan and want to base my tone off of them. Which amp would you recommend? By the way still gonna bug you for that ltd horizon h3-1000 demo haha
Would you consider making a comparison review between an LTD EC-1000 and a Schecter Hellraiser Solo-II? what are your thoughts on both?
Do a review on the jackson pro king v kvt. Have you gotten any request on that one?
