Every day in 1997 all three 71 cudas were parked on u.s national parks land, they would park them there over night. Me being in the park service at the time I would walk by these cars every day on my way to alcatraz island, even talking to the filming crew . There was three 71 cudas on nash bridges 383-440 and a real hemi, the film crew told me the 440 was the best running car
A lot of times the car looked much much better than it actually was immediately after the Cuda hits The other car and the front Fender is crumpled you can see the rust beneath the paint... The studio would put these cars together really fast and a lot of them were derelict pieces..but it's a shame they do this to such a rare and valuable car.
Well, a couple of thoughts. I had my 1st hot rod/car experience when I was 5 years old. My much older brother had a 1951 MG TD that he worked on and raced. He had a set of 4 Point aircraft safety belts. He made a special seat that raised me up so I could see out the windshield. We raced all around on the west Texas back roads & highways. Later I learned how to work on cars as a young teenager. We would build & race cars in high school. 1965 to 1969. We had some great older cars and modern ones too at the time. After I got messed up and was retired from the Army in 1971. I had a number of cars going through the entire 70s. Looking back, I was rough on many of them. I always pushed my cars as much as I could. I had a lot of fun and even scared the crap out of myself a number of times. On into the 80s & 90s, I drove & drove. All sorts of cars & trucks, a few cycles thrown in occasionally. I broke many of them also. Motors & frames will only take just so much. It would be nice to have many of them back again. But that's the life. Some people collect cars and rarely drive them. Others just drive the hell out of them.
The cars are Baracudas maybe from a junk yard mostly 340s or 6Banger given some gimmicks and extras and new color and so on to look like a 'cuda. Nobody kills a real 71 'cuda for a stunt crash not even in 1996. The yellow one was mostly a built up 383 for the driving scenes, too.
They should have NEVER done it, ever.....my friend. There are plenty of clever ways to convey a wreck to the audience without the stupid, dangerous and expensive way Hollywood does it. I'll bet you and I could a script a smart way to write & film this without any car ANYHWHERE getting damaged.....and we're not miilllon-dollar directors......we're just smart car guys!!!! Thanks for saying what should have been said years ago.
Oh my God I finally found the show that was on my mind and I never knew it and I never heard of the name of the show for a very long time until USA madea movie I think this year so thank you USA
Moral to the story is Don sold the Cuda off to Barret Jackson auction a couple yrs after filming the series. During preproduction, Production crews searched the original Cuda and found it at a mopar show, owners asked a very hefty lucrative crazy amount and turned the other cheek and found another Cuda replica at another show but was not the Don Johnson Cuda. He never owned the Cuda so they scripted it off early in the movie.
In Miami Vice (3.13) A very nice Cuda / Barracuda is destroyed when chasing Crockett & Tubbs in the Testarossa. The actual crashed 'Cuda in this episode of Nash Bridges looks like a barely functioning wreck. Still a shame though.
Hell, if it were a third gen Camaro, that would have been fine. To me, this reminded me of Knight rider. K.I.T.T vs K.A.R.R. good guy has similar car to bad guy, polar opposite, that kind of thing. The hard top was a pile unfortunately, if you look at the scenes where it took a hit and when it lost it's top. The metal under the paint was rusty, and I'm sure it was a 318 car, just dolled up to look like it had a hemi. No one in their right mind would actually use a hemi cuda for that kind of destruction.
Watched a documentary about the making of the movie "Speed"... The director and on-set writer thought it was "funny" when nice old cars get wrecked... It's a disease in Hollywood. Ruin nice old cars. It's amusing... The Vista Cruiser in the first Vacation movie. The Dodge Charger in EVERY Fast and Furious movie. One Dodge Charger in EVERY episode of Dukes Of Hazard... It's their disease. They think destroying nice old cars is humorous. And, they like it...
SI Mopars here!! I hear ya......ugh..... One thing I learned was if you have a nice car and some movie people want to use it in a shoot, you either need to tell them to pound sand OR get some written contract stating how fast, where, and when the car will be driven ...also WHO as well....many car guts will drive their own cars for certain shots. The horror stories I've heard are sickening: your car will get damaged, some idiot will use it for errands, coffee and food get spilled in it, they don't know or care how to drive it...ect.... The way I see it, Hollywood is rich; build a fiberglass replica, stick in a crate engine, or better yet, some old engine that still runs, and wreck that. I have a 2016 Challenger RT.....its my pride and joy. I would never let Hollywood touch my car for anything.
Hey what's happening when Nash asked Joe to call it on in & dispatch didn't respond to Joe request bu t Nash called in on the radio dispatch response lol😅😂❤
how come it is that the law enforcement agencies in form of the swat team, hadn't worked it up front that the geezer might get into his car and rufo... doh !! waste of frickin' taxes, innit !!
I love Miami Vice and thought I wanted to see this series but after watching 46 seconds of this video I don't think I want to anymore. Were those gates the car broke through cheap wood or styrofoam? lol. I guess they figured having a dirtier mouth than MV that it would make Nash Bridges better. Nah, I'll stick with the original MV.
None of them are real. I believe in 1971 only 7 Hemi Cuda’s were made with a convertible top. Probably 6 cylinder Barracuda’s with a Macco paint job for filming.
why. They already know the 71 is rare sourcing for the show car because there was no 71 convertible and yet they must destroy more. My most hated thing about TV and movies
Back then those cudas were a 5000 car new. Both shaker hood cars in high impact colors and rag tops. Just one of them would bring 100k or more if in close to original condition. Like a fool I sold my 70 440+6 4 speed Cuda' years ago for 3 grand Now it would be worth 150 grand or more. Sad to see that green one damaged but when that show was on TV those were just cars and nothing special. Tear one up for TV and go to a dealer and buy another.
From what I understand, this green Cuda survived and became a Convertible stunt car later in the season.
Joe's last line is great.
I did some extra work on that show back in the 90's
Destroying that beautiful 'Cuda is a crime.
Need a parts car best line joe ever delivered.
Being a car-guy, I've always HATED IT when they smashed perfectly good and RARE cars!!!
OH DONT WORRY RICH BOY!!!!!!!!
WE;LL GET ANOTHER ONE
I hate it when a beautiful car gets destroyed just for a movie or T.V. show.
Yeah i doubt they can afford to wreck a hemi cuda even back than
It was a 318 or 340 baracuda made to cosmetically look like a 71 hemi cuda. Didn't do a good job. It was really cheaply done.
@@Brian-yt8eo No kidding? They had me fooled.
It didn’t get destroyed, just turned into a convertible

I caught that also. The thing was a heap. I'm surprised they got it to look as good as it did for the cameras. Hollywood magic.
I can't take Mopars being wrecked, burned, or crushed, to he'll with Hollywood, GODDAMMIT!!! Mopar Nate, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

This is a good program to watch Cheech Martin and Don Johnson❤❤❤
Thank You For Sharing This Beautiful Video
DUDE WTF?! I don't care if this was back in the 90's!

Cheech never drove because he was always baked.
Ugh you wouldn't do that to one of these cars today 🥴😵😵💫

If you look closely at 3:20 you can see some yellow sticking out from under the green, in the center slat between the grill pieces.
DonJohnson is my favorite guy
I want to cry when destroy a classic 😢💔
Loved nash
Poor Cuda 😢😢😢
Graveyard cars
Two Cuda convertible
Instead of Nash saying “I can’t believe that SOB is still alive”, he should’ve said: l can’t believe, you SOB, destroyed a beautiful, classic car!” 😡
It's all about the driving and who is doing the driving😮
What the Hell....the Beautifull Cuda😱😨Siriusly??
Liked that cuda and show .But never should destroy a rare beauty !
Oh my God I finally found the show that was on my mind and I never knew it and I never heard of the name of the show for a very long time until USA madea movie I think this year so thank you USA
Great car! Mine is my time machine!
Great to do
This is a great Park to cudas running after each other
Let's Rock.
A pegada é bem diferente de Miami Vice, porém é muito bom também.
A convertible in San Francisco??????????
I love this show and I hated they wrecked the cuda in the TV movie and I own all of the seasons on DVD
Exactly the Cuda was a Cast Member as well to be killed off like that broke the movie for me

That was CGI, wasn't actually wrecked
@@terryschnereger8531theovie cuda was CGI when destroyed
I Love Rosia
Hated to see them wreck that Cuda the first time and then in each rerun over the years and this time too. Bummer!!!
SFPD Still used those old '91 Ford LTD
This was a crime to humanity please tell me that a real cuda was not harmed during the making of this film 😂
Is there any more Nash bridges episodes on RUclips
No airbags. No seatbelts. No brain?

Seat belts? Who needs seat belts?
Why couldn't the bad guy have been driving an AMC Matador? To wreck a beautiful '71 Cuda is sacrilegious.
Hell, if it were a third gen Camaro, that would have been fine. To me, this reminded me of Knight rider. K.I.T.T vs K.A.R.R. good guy has similar car to bad guy, polar opposite, that kind of thing. Those ppl need to be arrested and jailed.
1971 cuda
They should have used a lime green dodge Aries when it went under the trailer 😂
Even witnessing Nash throw and cuff the suspect onto his hood like that made me cringe
Had to destroy a vintage Mopar. They couldn't use a Ford POS?
what a sacrilege to destroy that car
The green car wasn't destroyed. It was repaired, painted yellow and turned into a Convertible.
Hey what's happening when Nash asked Joe to call it on in & dispatch didn't respond to Joe request bu t Nash called in on the radio dispatch response lol😅😂❤
Is That a 440 or 383 super commando green cuda?
It was supposed to be a Hemi model like Nash's
426 hemi

Man, he is really jerking that steering wheel back and forth a lot! Bad tie rod ends, maybe?
同じクーダでもナッシュのクーダの方がカッコいいね😊
それと、犯人のクーダとナッシュのクーダでは、タイヤの太さが違って見えるのは気のせいかな。
4000$ back then car but??? 200000 $ car 40yrs later cudas
What are they wearing ? Lap belts? A high speed chase and they're wearing lap belts?
Welcome to the 1990s. Car was from the 60s or 70s so even more reason they only had lap belts. You comment makes no sense.

They don’t really killed the Cuda , did they?

Fake exhaust sound
Pretty much all car sounds on film are dubbed in. Even for footage of actual car races many years ago.
I loved the cuda. I couldnt watch this show As chech was wrong for the show..He was use less

You couldn't just go to a dealer and buy a cuda in the 90s when this show was filmed lol
Not cool
