    Drove 2 s2ks yesterday. Guy was gonna trade me his ap1 for my fully restored/built crx and I couldn’t make up my mind if I wanted to do it and he backed out. Gotta day the s2k isn’t fast but it’s a truly unique driving experience and it doesn’t have to be fast to be incredible fun to drive.

    • @statusquoreject
      @statusquoreject 3 года назад +1

      The crx isn't fast either and it's not appraising like the s2k so that was a no brainer that you missed out on.

    • @diversedad7954
      @diversedad7954 3 года назад +1

      @@statusquoreject like I said in the previous post, HE backed out not me. I was ready to pull the trigger. The s2k was far from perfect condition. I actually just sold my crx for $12k so I think I did pretty good. That s2k with the issues it had and prior salvage title wasn't really worth any more than that. Now I'm focused on building my 66 c10 short bed which will hold its value as good if not better than the s2k.

    • @statusquoreject
      @statusquoreject 3 года назад

      @@diversedad7954 you didn't mention it was salvaged, that makes more sense. Yeah 12k for your CR-X is a good deal. A salvaged s2k should be running around $8k-13k depending on where you live & mileage... salvage is perfect if you want to track it because then the track damage doesn't devalue it much and is easier to accept.

    Bought a 2006 Laguna S2000 in 2016 instead of an NA2 NSX. I wanted the fully open top, and for it not to be too precious to even put miles on. The NA NSX, and I mean this as a compliment, felt a lot like our family's Acura Legend - fast, quiet, comfortable, but my performance package BMW already ticked those boxes, and ironically cost a lot less due to NSX market conditions.
    That said, 8 years on my S2K doesn't have any door dings. I park it far out in the lot just as if I'd gotten the NSX. Walking is good for you anyway.

    Great review! I put a deposit on a red 2004 S2000 with only 79,000 kilometers on the clock. I am completing the deal this coming Tuesday. I love the NSX but I think I'll get lots of bang for my buck with the S2000. I also own a 1994 Integra GSR with 89,000 kms. I bought it new in 94. I'm no stranger to VTEC performance.

    Both are beautiful cars and your two examples compliment one another nicely (I especially like your choice of colors on both cars). In a nutshell, what your review highlights are the key differences between a sports car and a GT in the most traditional sense. in each case, Honda really delivered the goods with both the S2000 and the NSX.
    As someone who works on my cars myself, one thing that I truly appreciate about the S2000 is just how well Honda's engineers laid out the mechanical components in this car making things very accessible. It appears that your S2000 is a 2006 or later model so it features an electronic throttle control otherwise known as Drive-By-Wire (or DBW). In case you aren't already aware,, something that you'll want to keep a closer eye on with your car is the valve clearances - the exhaust valve clearances in particular. The DBW engines are known to run leaner, exacerbating exhaust valve wear. Therefore the DBW cars are often found to have overly tight exhaust valves upon inspection so they should be checked more frequently than in the 2005 and earlier pre-DBW cars. If adjustment is necessary you'll want to error towards the loose side of the specs. Some DBW S2K owners will set the clearance to .012 in. on the exhaust valves instead of the specified .011 in. for this reason.
    By comparison, things are much more cramped in my son's V6 Accord Coupe for example making working on it is less convenient. Due to it's engine placement the NSX appears to be quite a bit more challenging in this regard, which isn't surprising for an exotic. (I personally consider the NSX to be a true exotic, although the supercar label applies equally as well in my opinion.) You mentioned the timing belt in the NSX's engine - do you have to pull the engine out of the NSX to replace the timing belt and water pump?

    classic nsx is baout the best looking modern jdm, very special and keeping the value with a good potential
    destined more like to be a garage queen/weekend driver though
    whereas s2000 is a car to daily and to track, lower running costs, better potential for upgrades, than the nsx
    for a fraction of cost of nsx, you have one of the fastest jdm car for a track (together with 5-9 evo) without thinking- oh i just ruined the real classic with all those upgrades
