I know "Off Grid and WHISKEY" but I have always found that to get rid of a cold / flu I would get as hammered as I could on a decent tequila take a couple of aspirin and pass out. I would always feel much better the next day.
I any case the liquor reasoning is sound. After all when you cut yerslf ya pour alcohol on it to disinfect it. A cold has the germs on the inside so ya gotz ta get the alcohol to where the germs are! 👍

Lol. Funny you say that. I was drinking Cazadorez Tequila and OJ while stacking the firewood! Knee walking drunk by 8pm. I forgot the aspirin, tho.
