On this episode of the #GuitarStoreTour I’m in down in the Deep South of Birmingham, Alabama, and the Bailey Brothers have a selection of guitars that rival any I’ve seen on the Guitar Store Tour so far. It was hard to pick just one guitar to play, so I had a little help in showing off the versatility of one of the most iconic guitar models ever made, from country… to METAL. Make sure to follow me on Twitter to see where the #GuitarStoreTour will stop next, and tune into my RUclips channel for new episodes every Wednesday. 50 States. 50 Guitar Stores. 50 Weeks.
When you coming to Chicago Music Exchange (and jam with Rob S)?
Bailey Brothers is the best store in Alabama. I’ve been a faithful customer for years. Thanks for choosing them!
You should come to mobile
would have liked to see you guys switch guitars & amps you play the old style tele through the metal amp and the metal tele through the tweed :D
I was waiting for you to come to Alabama and I missed it🤧
*NEXT : metal with a country guitar vs country with a metal guitar*
I play metal with a "country" guitar almost every day lol. Single coil tele ran into a mesa recto. Its amazing
@@kodykhaos626 I agree ! The twang of the tele when it is combined with high gain heavy tone is incredible ! I love it too with my Telecaster Classic Player Baja (awesome guitar btw, definitly my main)
Next: guitar made of metal vs guitar made of country
To be honest, once you put humbuckers and a Floyd on a Telecaster, it's no longer a Telecaster. It's a singlecut T-style design with modern features.
I will never in my life play a tele unless it’s up to my specs, so uh. I guess I’ll never play a “real tele”
I remembered the end of Crossroads very differently
cjcoake ......and NOT the Britney Spears-version! Lol!
Haha
Just like Budapest?
Dylan Stankewicz I understood that reference
cjcoake lmaaaooo
If it has strings and can be distorted then you can play metal on it.
Hold on lemme get my harp
@@nath1606 you probably should look into folk metal for that, they've got you beat.
@@nath1606 Get a harp with more strings.
@@eddyguizonde401 Lemme get my Ondomo then
Hold on, let me get my slide guitar
A disclaimer, if you put distortion on the normal tele you can do must of the things Tyler was going!
But you can't get the pop and snappy twang out of the single coils from a humbucker. *says that and his Squier HSS Bullet Strat has a snappy humbucker as opposed to a quacky Strat bridge pickup*
Exactly listen to zep
Hey Tyler, thanks again for stopping by. If you're ever back this way, come see us. We just opened a PRS dealership in the last few weeks..... come play a few. 😁
Nice players and clean licks? Surely this can’t be a guitar store
I was expecting stairway to heaven and power chords galore
I was expecting Wonderwall, Sweet Child, CAGED- chords, basic strum patterns, Nirvana
I live in Birmingham and Bailey Brother's is fucking heaven
im also from birmingham, and have known ben for a long time. hes a killer player.
Pretty funny, though the trick would simply be swapping amps... :P
I thought this would be more of a comparison between humbuckers vs. single coil
Yeah you can do ALL of that on a standard tele. Just throw in a couple pedals or turn up the gain
Doesn't sound as good as in a strat imo.
I have a standard tele with alnico single coil pick ups and I use it to play metal in drop B and A and it sounds good
@@rickearl1392 I believe you but in my opinion "good" isn't enough. Nothing beats a strat(love les pauls tho).
Nothing beats a Strat for metal?
@@randyeppyt Yeah, strat is the best imo.
I want to hear the country tele on some gain.
If you go to Jim Lill's YT account, he discusses about the Wampler Paisley Deluxe Drive pedal. He explains the different BP tones you can get with the overdrive. With a slight pinch of dirt in your signal, you can use that tone as a boost for your solos or for a rounder and/or fatter tone on your guitar, especially the Tele. That's what Brad did on his songs "Camouflage," "She's Everything," "Little Moments," "Waiting On A Woman," "Then," "Beat This Summer," and more. There's also Carrie Underwood's song "Cupid's Got A Shotgun," and Brad played guitar in the studio version with some overdrive in his signal. You can also check out Brad's instrumental guitar album, "Play," which features a sea of tones and licks to steal.
And if you can tell with all this information, I am a BIG Brad Paisley fan. He's my favorite country artist AND country guitarist. *@Music is Win*, please do a Brad Paisley habits video. You've mentioned him only once or twice on your RUclips page. Please, your guitars... but does it twang? 🤠🎸
@@vincentreyes6154 thanks a lot!
@@765az6 Don't mention it. 😉
Why do your 6-string bass guitars sound so high-pitched?
Thrano Ukuleles are supposed to sound like that!
He used auto tune
6-string bass? I've never counted a number so *low*
We put very low gauge strings because they're cheaper
@@cjl1w4g27 I never seem a ukulele that size man I believe they're basses.
Every guitarist ever:
Idk which one to have. Oh I’ll have both and live on the streets
0:32 Don't try this kids. We don't need broken guitar necks in our lives.
I see you so much that i stopped answering to your comments
@@barteksiudziak5661 Ha me too!
Thats a normal technique.
This guy is Justin Y of RUclips Guitar community
Will it actually break the neck?
The Jim root telecaster?
Not single and humbukers
Hector Garcia but it’s still a metal telecaster
Man I miss my every day.. Fender not Squier. That girl was perfect in every way. Buttery smooth tones and feel.
Yes
Haha I said the same thing then I saw your comment. The Jim root is a monster. A previous band mate had one, and I always did the maintenance and set ups before shows etc. A true beast of a guitar.
Plug them in the same amp. The fender one can do anything. One of the best guitars ever made
No shit can it do dive bombs?
Gapi P no.
tele's are just ok.
@@Cole-ek7fh I can almost hear how shitty you are at playing guitar
Gapi P ah yes not liking a guitar can tell your skill, i can tell you play only blues. i can tell you love paying top dollar for Telecasters, Les Pauls, and PRS’s.
@@noname.___ you could press against the body and separate the neck like he did at the beginning
I was in there just a few days after, dropping off my Tele for repairs. If only I had been there a few days earlier, I could've met you. You have inspired me to expand beyond my comfort zone and really dive into my musical abilities. Hopefully you'll be back in the Magic City in the next few years! Great video, too!
2:49 who else saw it coming
A true David Vs Goliath battle without any losers
Thank you for this, because I've been wanting a Telecaster, and I love to play both genres!
I live very close to this store and was so happy when I saw this! I just bought a nice Ibanez from here and was so happy this store was in the tour. Can’t believe I just saw this
Fake telecaster vs. Real telecaster
Which one is which one
Wicca the metal one fake tele
Gate keeping vs Gatekeeping
It’s not fake charvel is made by fender
@@Djentfan420 Oooh I always wondered why Charvel copied the ugly Fender headstocks. Now I know why!
I love Bailey brothers
That dog tripped me out there at the end!😂😂 good video!
This seems like a great story to follow! Subbed, thanks for sharing
Loved the ending. Loved it.
Dude, how can you make your videos so COOL!!!
Love the top on the Blue Tele!
Reminds of what the movie "Crossroads" guitar duel at the end. Steve Vai was shredding on a 80s Charvel and Ralph Maccio (Ry Cooder playing his parts on guitar) was playing a Telecaster with a slide.
What guitar are you using? It looks so goood!!!
That noodle at the end was frigin perfect!
I just got one of these charvels with a Floyd. Love it!
I half-expected John 5 to jump out and be like "I can do BOTH!" Haha
That duet at the end was too beautiful
As soon as I seen the thumbnail I was like “That’s Bailey Brothers!!” I buy all my stuff from there. Great store
But how was the guitar? Currently looking at a style 2 pro mod san dimas, and very curious. Kind of torn between that, the Ritchie Faulkner flying V and the schecter sun valley super shredder. The latter is the only one I've tried
The ending 🔥🔥🔥
I’m thinking about getting a new American Elite Shawbucker (Strat). Do have any advice or opinions about that guitar?
The employees at Bailey brothers are such cool and helpful dudes
This is the best trek, ever, Tyler!...Great showdown! I'm surprised ya'll didn't do a heavy metal Sweet Home Alabama!
1st vid in a month by him i watched all the way thru
when you are getting one (guitar), how do you know which one is which for ? do you have like a special reference for what you look for?
Both sound great
What Mesa is that? It sounds amazing
That’s a beautiful guitar man. And I like your shirt too.
Retitle the video “Different guitars in different hands under different settings with different pickups through different amps and different pedals going for incomparably different sounds”
Dude I am just now watching this video and I was at this guitar store last week lol
This is my local music store!!!! This is so rad!!
Id like a full version of that ending jam. I love all teles.
I have a request, what real differentiates the two? pickups? amp? guitar build??
Butterscotch tele with black pickguard is fookin gorgeous
Right on right on
Loved the licks and riffs that the other Guy was playing. Could you explain a Little about his style? I liked that too much!
I received a new tele in the mail yesterday! An asian made tele that actually sounds fantastic and plays like a charm! 🤘 Nice video
Tele whammy bar 🤣 I'll be in BHam next week and looking forward to visiting this place! Thank you!
My hometown!
Man I wish I knew when you were in town, I would have loved to meet you
That jam at the end tho😍😍
That’s so cool
Funny. I was in Bailey Brothers earlier today too! In Montgomery tho
Put both on clean then see or both in distortion..not a fair comparison
I need to visit there sometime. I'm not too far away
Used to shop and take lessons at that store for years when I was a kid. If Kevin still works there he is the fucking dude.
Very nice video
OK, from country to metal, and don't forget about the mesa amo sitting behind you while the other dudes plugged in to a fender
What was the comparison? I saw two different guitars, and two different amps on completely different settings.
Holy shit he went to Bailey Brothers???
I literally just took my Jag up there to get it fixed I had no clue he has been there before
What about shred with a Rickenbacker? Or a Gretsch Power Jet?
HELP. I can play blues scales and riff a little bit, but i really want to learn to riff through those pedally double stop country riffs like 1:27 - 1:31 in this video. Can anybody direct me to a video or page that shows that specific rhythm and some suggested notes and patterns to follow ? Ive searched everywhere on youtube for lessons on those sort of country licks but all i can find is lead chicken picking videos and not that riffy rhythm stuff...
Doea anybody know the name of the mesaboogie amp tyler is playing through? Thanks!
What if you can get both of them on one single guitar and switch between those sounds in less than a minute?
Holy shit that’s Bailey Bros music! I buy all my stuff from there
I just purchased that Charvel telecaster back in November. I've always loved the look of a Tele but I personally don't care for single-coil pickups. So I jumped at the chance to get this. Such a phenomenal instrument. Second only to my 2 PRS guitars.
what is the model of that guitar. I LOVE the tone from that Charvel and Mesa and have been trying to figure out what they both are.
@@brandongreen4434 Sorry I didn't see this. I'm actually drawing a blank on the exact model. Let me do some digging and get back to you.
Why didn't you try Starway to Heaven?!
There should be "no stairway to heaven" sign
Daniel Bonaventi because it's illegal
Because he didn’t want to be kicked out.
I profess the Stairway, so buzz off. ☦
the solo to stairway was played on a telecaster
I realized that rock + country sounds heaven😍😎🎸
You will definitely like Brad Paisley as his tone is rock from his Dr. Z Wreck and his playing on the Tele is as country as guys like Brent Mason, Vince Gill, and John Jorgenson. Jorgensen? I don't know.
If you want to hear that tone and playing style, check out Brad's guitar album "Play." It has lots of amazing instrumentals and riffs and licks to steal. I'd recommend you to listen to the instrumentals "Departure" and "Cliffs of Rock City" to get that rock tone with the country playing style.
/\
II
"Cliffs of Rock City?" Yes, Brad must be an Eric Johnston fan. Just goes to show that he has good taste and amazing influences. 🤠🎸
love the yellow telecaster
How have you not featured a B-bender yet?
Give ya a thumbs up tho dudes.... Was a cool video!.. And I do love the sound of a mesa!
That country tele sounds so freakin awesome
That rosewood neck esquire looks awesome.
The sunburst is beautiful.
Iman Khalil agreed
Just wanted to know if you can play Steve Vai - Paganini 5th Caprice on a video?
I used to go to a Mexican restaurant once a month right next door this Bailey Brothers when I was a kid
I didn’t know Tyler is the real Jack Butler! Lol!
#CuttinHeads
As someone who plays a strat and"super" strat. I live this battle every day
My Tele is specifically for twang. I have a Jackson & a Gibson I use for metal (& other stuff).
Twang is good, for somethings.
Oh my Stars! That's my home store!
Wish I could've been there today!
Stairway to heaven solo was recorded with a tele and many rock songs. The amp has some to do with it and pick ups. Keith Richards plays a Telecaster. Jesus Just Left Chicago - Billy Gibbons, ZZ Top (Tres Hombres, 1973)
Dude my first guitar lesson was in that building
I'm both a huge country music fan and a slight metal fan. I guess it's my own personal bias being originally from the state of Mississippi but I have to say I like the country Telecaster more than the metal Telecaster, although they both have their own unique style I just like something a little bit more twang. Both are extremely beautiful guitars though.
Also my mom's Hometown is Birmingham, good video!
So you're a Fan of John 5 =D
@@Ginatzzo not a huge zombie fan, I like some Lynyrd Skynyrd.
@@Lazy_eye_blobFish Wasn't talkin about Zombie, Listen John 5 Solo records
I'm from Mississippi to but I still like the metal guitar better
@@__lrb__5073 the funny thing is is that I Hayden most country music when I was growing up in Mississippi, it wasn't until I turned about 13 and lived in Ohio that I started a really appreciate country music. Now I like any genre as long as it's not too inappropriate.
what is that charvel tele called?
Missed a perfect opportunity to recreate the Cross Roads guitar duel scene
Maybe a new in the series should go like this, songs you think are on a guitar but were actually played through a synthesizer or programming system??? Or guitar solos that weren't actually on a guitar but on a bass or violin???
I love this! 😂😂
There was one lick the guy did on the country telecaster that sounded like a dwight yoakam song
Makes you wonder what makes a Tele a Tele. Is it the Tele twang? The bridge plate? The covered single coil neck? Or is it simply the shape? Because most bolt on dual humbucker guitars sound basically the same.
Ayy I go there all the time
Im going to save this video, then the next time my wife asks why i gotta have so many guitars,im just going to show her this
That lick from 1:52-1:57 was fuckin killer. Tabs!?!?
50 stores in 50 weeks.... that's your whole year covered. Will you be in the road that long? Great video BTW. Cheers.
I like that yellow guitar. It looks nice.
