Bobby Vee was a big artist in the 60s. He had several songs including "Rubber Ball", "Run to Him", "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" and "Come Back When You Grow Up". RIP Bobby
This is another of the teenage idols from the 60's. He was a singer, songwriter & musician & had a lot of hits such as "Devil Or Angel", "Rubber Ball", "Run To Him", "The Night Has A Thousand Eyes", "Come Back When You Grow Up" etc.
This song was written by Carole King and her then-husband, Jerry Goffin, one of their innumerable hits before Carole went on to a singing career. Rubber Ball is one of Bobby's best songs.
Bobby Vee was always one of my favorite pop singers of the 1960s. In 1975 I was with my brother-in-law in a nightclub where Bobby was headlining. When it came time for them to take a break, he jumped down off the stage, stood in front of us at our table and asked if he could join us for dinner. Of course, we said yes and we talked with him over dinner for about half an hour. And of course I had to ask him about the night Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens were killed and how he ended up with his high school garage band playing that concert that night. It was very cool to get the story directly from him. He was the nicest guy!
Mel and Shawn…so true…you two are the only and best doing the oldies. My husband is 79 and I am 73 and you bring so much joy to us by watching your reactions to the music we loved as teenagers. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.
Loved, loved, loved Bobby Vee. (I had a bit of a crush as a young girl, actually.) RIP to a very sweet man. It's true that you two seem to be the only ones that are really digging deep into these classic hits from the 1950s and '60s. I love it and I can't stop watching your channel!
I've been a hopeless romantic since I was a least 10 loved the heartbroken gentleman. I forgot I read here tht it was Carole King then husband Jerry Gotfin who cowrote this, still love it!
Teenage idol singing about true love 💕 There were so many wonderful songs to choose from when putting our coins in the Jukebox AND this was sure to be picked🥰🎶☮️
I was in love with Bobby Vee when I was 9, 10, 11, and on up. LoL! Loved all his song’s throughout his career. His band got a fortunate call from an unfortunate accident that killed the singers that were to perform at a popular venue. Bobby’s band only knew six songs, but the owner’s didn’t care, they needed a band to fill in for the singer’s who died the night before…they were The Big Bopper, Buddy Hollie and Frankie Vallens, sadly. Bobby Vee’s career took off after that night, playing six songs over and over again! 😍
You really are among the few watching these old videos and hearing these old songs. I love that you're listening to these golden oldies! I'd like to suggest that you listen to Those Magic Changes by Johnny Contardo. He's a member of the group Sha-na-na and an amazing vocalist! Best to watch the Sha-na-na version of the video - it also showcases the talent and fun of the group!
You guys are sure doing a good job! I love the older songs that you are doing because your commentary on them is very insightful and mature. I enjoy so much seeing the appreciation you show for the innocence and kindness that is often shown in the lyrics of older music. You don't make fun of it but see its value and that is so important I think. So much of the music we hear today is so sad, and degrading to women. It breaks my heart sometimes, when I see what the younger performers are doing to get attention. I really enjoy your channel and look forward to seeing it each day. Have a wonderful day ahead. :)
At just 15 years of age Bobby and his friends formed a group on real short notice to take the place of the recently deceased Buddy Holly. Bob Dylan, who went under another name at the time toured with Bobby for a while. Dylan said that Bobby was the nicest person he had ever met in the business. Bobby died at age 73 in 2016 after having dealt with Alzheimer's disease for years. One of my favorites (aside from the one featured here) is "Run To Him" as done on the Dick Clark Show (even if it was lip-synched).
YES YES Bobby Vee This was one of the first records I bought. A friend and I just about wore out his 'Greatest Hits' album at sleep-overs. Good memories. Next, try 'Run To Him'.
Yes! thank you, this is so much fun. One of the great ones. Please don't ask about Barbara, Run to him, The night has a thousand eyes are a few more from Bobby.
You guys are the only ones doing these songs! The other ones are moving to today's stuff and I'm 56 I love hearing this stuff my parents played.. Like this song.. I'm sticking with you two because your channel is the best for songs and I can totally tell your having fun! You gotta do 50 ways to leave your lover.. It's a fun song you will love it! Love to you both!
GREAT Reaction. I really want to thank you guys for doing this music. The viewer are correct in saying YOU are the greatest for doing all these great oldies. I love this music, some of it before my time, but I grew up listening to this music and I love it. Keep listening to 50's through 70's. Greatest songs ever. BIG thumbs up to you all.
Always loved this song. I inherited all of my older sisters and mothers 45’s when I was young so I had a lot of oldies and this was one of them! Great hearing it again!
Written by Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Many of their songs were about loss or insecurity. Their first major hit Will You Love me Tomorrow was written when Carole was 17 and Gerry was 21. Take Good Care of my Baby was released when Carole was 19 and Gerry was 23. They divorced in 1968. Gerry wasn’t a faithful husband and he has a child with one of the singers they wrote for. This gives their songs an entirely different and much sadder meanings. Happy songs with sad lyrics !
Hi Guys you are the only ones doing this music. Great reactions and it appears that you two are on a wonderful journey and I'm so excited for you. Again, keep it up.
Bobby v got his start the day the music died he was one of the performers who had to perform the next night it was an open call for anyone with after the airplane crashed with Buddy Holly Ritchie Valens and the Big bopper

bobby vee was one of the acts that took the place of the act featuring buddy holly, richie valens, and j.p richardson, it was how he got noticed and became one of the biggest teen idols of the early 60's
The way true gentlemen were. His love was not selfish, demeaning, demanding, jealous. He thought more about her happiness. He set her free. A saying in love: If you set it free and it comes back, it was meant to be. Good reactions. Bobby Vee was performing live with his sons up to 2011. Until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2011. He publically revealed he had the disease on 29 April 2012. His final new recordings with help from friends and family was released on 3 February 2014 called The Adobe Sessions. He died on 26 October 2016 due to complications of Alzheimer's.He was 73.

Rubber Ball is one of Bobby's best songs.

4:31 that was a picture of Carole King and Gerry Goffin, who wrote "Take Good Care of My Baby" among many others.
Don’t you just love the stories the old songs told. So much fun!
This world I want it. All the people looking at all the people and just seeing People. Without differences. ALL of us are special persons.

he was born where i live, here in Fargo ND. got to meet him several times over the years, super nice guy!
You both seem to be filled with joy to be hearing & discovering the music of the earlier years of rock and roll and it feels so good to see that.
Mel and Shawn…so true…you two are the only and best doing the oldies. My husband is 79 and I am 73 and you bring so much joy to us by watching your reactions to the music we loved as teenagers. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos.

Here in the UK, over the years, this recording pops up every now and again in TV "baby" adverts!
Bobby Vee and Bobby Rydell were so big back in the day and no one plays them. Also the Dovells and Dion and The Belmonts.
You guys are sure doing a good job! I love the older songs that you are doing because your commentary on them is very insightful and mature. Bobby had a guy in his band named Robert Zimmerman who later started calling himself Bob Dylan and wrote a few songs.

Thx! I have felt that sentiment, but probably said “you can have her!” I know, I’m a mess!
As a kid in the 60's (I'm 67 years old now) this is my all-time 60's song. Bobby was influenced by the great Buddy Holly.
Whether or not you are the only ones reacting to these old songs or not. Without question you are the best. Love your enthusiasm.
A lot of people thought he was Bobby Vinton..Both greats!!
“Run to Him” ❤️❤️❤️
