She is one of the true greats. The only female inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Hall of Fame, plus just for good measure, the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. She was the top selling female artist of the 1960s and the Beatles were actually HER opening act. She's still with us and doesn't get as many props as she should because she is a sweet unassuming lady. She takes her place among the early pioneers like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline.
Elvis is in both hall of fames as well..
@@davidwalker683 Yes, correct, I should have said the only female, not person.
All good...
Her performances were so great and unique that she became a cultural icon in that she is referenced in songs and movies.
Dale B thank you for that. I’ve heard her name but never heard this angel sing.
She was 15 when this song hit. She was all of 4' 9" tall.
WOW
she’s just a “add a little spice “
Little miss dynamite
She's still 4'-9". Same voice, too! ❤️
And she was only 15! She was born with her voice. That’s really an awesome and amazing voice!
Imagine 15 yrs old, live, no auto tune and other gimmicks. She had a lot of great songs, All Alone Am I, Emotions, I Want to be Wanted and so many more.
So much talent packed into such a small package, her nickname is "Little Miss Dynamite".
The nickname came not only from her voice and her size, but from one of her very first songs, titled "Dynamite". There's an absolutely adorable live video of her very young self singing it on stage.
They don't call her little miss dynamite for nothing. She also does "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree"
I love her version!
An ABSOLUTE STAPLE, about this time of year...
How about SWEET NOTHING'S? She was on 🔥🔥 FIRE. Ahahaha 😀
Love the guitar in that song.
She had a lot of poise for an adolescent. Breath control and knowing how to vary her position relative to the microphone is the hallmark of someone who knows what the word dynamics means. She really had it.
You should hear her sing All Alone Am I. Her vocals are out of this world.
love that one too
And "Losing you" - absolutely amazing!
My favorite Brenda Lee song.
@@jeanettesmith765 mine too.
“Sweet nothings”by Brenda Lee
You really got to hear Brenda lee do rocking around the Christmas tree
She sings Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. She was a teenager when she started.
She was a little girl when she started. I saw her when I was younger than her on some country music show. She just blew them away.
Way before her teens. She started performing professionally when she was 5 and received a recording contract when the was 10 or 11, in 1955. She released her 1st charted hit at 12 years old.
I love how you young people enjoy the oldies
She was only 15 when she recorded this song!
So old school. You have to 2-step dance to a sad song. Heard this back in the old days when I was just a child. I'll be 70 next year and it still sounds great! What memories. Thank you.
An fantastic singer
She had an incredible voice and I believe was only 15 when this song came out. You should watch her sing 'All Alone Am I'.
Actually u might know Brenda Lee already at least u may have heard every year around this time singing ROCKIN AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE. Such a beautiful powerhouse voice.
Brenda Lee, born Brenda Mae Tarpley, started performing at a very early age and became the major breadwinner for her family when her dad was killed on the job when she was 9 years old. She had her first hit at the age of 12 with "One Step At a Time" in 1957. She was produced by Owen Bradley, who also produced such greats as Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. "I'm Sorry" was released in 1960 when she was only 15 years old.
Oh, I'm getting strong memories of Brenda Lee on the car radio.....'Johnny Sometime'.....

Nice chronology, sir!!!
@@vincentsablan732 Thank you 😊
Maybe during Christmas you heard a song “rocking around the Christmas tree?” That’s her.
Itty bitty teenager with the voice of an angel. She was so amazing. Pure talent, no autotune.
She was feisty, tough, sweet and talented to the core. I remember listening to her as a kid myself.
Loving this songs from the 60's...You need to do The Platters and Only You.
When I was young, here in Texas, there were churches having record smashing get together. The Baptist’s around here were totally against new music and anyone dancing! I love the Platters!
Finally Brenda Lee! Love love Brenda Lee❤️ (She's really sorry💗)
Brenda was 16 when she sang this in 1960 ,she's got many songs 🎵, and she'll be 77yrs young next month, thanks for sharing and as always "Howdy from Texas "!!
She was one of a kind and had lots and lots of hits over the years.
Connie Francis, another terrific singer from this era.
Beautiful voices, long before auto-tune...
@@concertinamadrigals4058 Auto-tuned in utero ...
Dont forget Little Peggy March.
All that verbal power coming out of a 4 ft 9 body
BOTH WERE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Every childhood Christmas memory includes her Christmas album.
She’s only 12 years old… Amazing!

Great singer & beautiful voice❤️. I saw her & Freddie fender. At theater in the round in Houston. My husband was so in love with her. 💞💞💞💞💞. And she was so dam short,. She looked like a little girl 🤩
Powerful voice from a tiney , very young girl. “ all alone am I “ next?
Fun fact: my mom sang this to us kids right after running over a mailbox. 🤣🤣🤣
❤️Brenda Lee. Another great voice is Timi Yuro singing “Hurt.”
timi yuro is class
Her voice is so innocent and sweet, but then also so seductive, all at the same time. Wonderful!!!
Another great artist from the 60's. Love this lady's voice! 💞
She is one of the greatest crossover artist ever. She was a huge country singing star who also did rock & roll music.
Her most famous song is the (1958) multi platinum song title "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree." This song is played everywhere around the world during the Christmas holidays. And it has become more popular due to being in hundreds of movies over the years. If when you go shopping in many stores during the Christmas season. This song is being played over and over again. That is how popular the song has become. It is also one of the most played songs in movies.
The song "I'm Sorry." Came out in (1960). It went to number one in both country and rock music charts. She was a small package, and a bundle of energy set to music. You can never go wrong going down the rabbit hole that this Brenda Lee. Great reaction as always...
Note: Here are some of her best songs to react to. The End of the World (1963), All Alone Am I (1963), Fool Number One (1960), Losing You (1963), Sweet Nothins' (1960), Jambalaya (1963) perform live on the Ed Sullivan Show. This song you must react to. She breaks down what Jambalaya means. She first recorded it back in (1958).
"The End of the World" was recorded by Skeeter Davis. Brenda also recorded it, but Skeeter had the big hit.
She's been singing since 1951.
That’s just incredibly awesome 😎
My wifes name is Brenda Lee and I have to move heaven and earth to get her to sing. But when she does, it's worth the effort! PEACE!!!!!
She supported her Mother and siblings after her Father died.
Brenda was 15 years old when she sang this!
OMG this is a classic from way backs. Mt dad thrashed this. But saying that. The first song I herd of hers. Was when she was 11. Jambalaya. She has so many classics.
Christmas is coming-- Check out her "Rockin Around The Christmas Tree". She recorded it when she was 13.
She was on tour in a car traveling with Patsy Cline & Loretta Lynn. Would of loved to be in that car listening to them.
I love the variety of music you react to, and you are a pure joy to watch! Your chemistry is so positive and you are a wonderful couple. Brenda Lee; such a big voice in a tiny package
I love Brenda Lee 😢💗🎶 she was only 15 here!! Back in the 50’s - 60’s she was so popular . Brenda was the family breadwinner at 12 years old ! Began singing at 5 years old & got a contract at 10 or 12 she was so popular that she was right up in record sales with Elvis & Roy Orbison💜💎💫🥰
One of THE BEST ladies on this planet. I have known her for many many years. She deserves ALL the flowers in this world. We need to treasure this Lady and recognize her again like she used to be! 👑
Doesn't it make you two happy to know that there is still so much more to discover?
You've been featuring some of the most iconic voices! I applaud you! 👏 ✌
You should listen to her singing Rocking around the Christmas tree, appropriate for this time of the year guys. You should also listen to Connie Frances and Patsy Cline, they were in the same era as Brenda and sound similar.
I wonder how she would have done on The Voice ? Good selection. Cheers
To sing this extraordinarily well she must be an alien!
I’m so glad Y’all chose this genre of (my) music! You’re letting people who would normally miss out, get to hear these great tunes. Peace and love to You!
There is a video of Brenda singing on Grand Ole Opry, I believe, when she was about 7. She had energy and that voice even then. Try and find this video. It's worth it . Rock Around the Christmas Tree 🌲 is a fun song too. Cheers from Canada
I really like your reactions and appreciation for the time when singing artists were a talent standing on their own voices and didn't depend on studio manipulation and using foul language to reach their audiences and touch our hearts with instruments only God can grant. Brenda Lee was one of the ones blessed with a great voice and solo talent.
She's so beautiful. She was a teenager then. Still so good.
You guys are great - thanks for reacting to this song!!
I'm sure you would love her song "sweet nothing's"
I just love her singing, yes she is powerful but so smooth. I just love her Rockin Around the Christmas Tree at such a young age.
"little miss dynamite" was 15-16 when she made this a hit. she had her first big hit at arout 8 yrs old, and from then on she was the main breadwinner for her household.
Incredible no words stunning powerful beyond description one of the best all time...This young girl women deserves so much more credit 10 out of 10
Brenda was my Mother’s era but I loved her. My Mother taught us to love her music and my Nana’s music. Then I taught my youngest daughter to love them all the way back to my Nana’s era. My baby was a singer/actor/musician. She could really sing those old ballads but she loves every kind of music. Thank you, it is so long since I heard Brenda sing.
She signed a recording contract at age 13 or 14. Has great Christmas songs also. SWEET NOTHING'S is terrific she was on 🔥 fire with her range. Love her voice!
I agree...."Sweet Nothing" is a fab fun song!!
I have loved this song for over 50 years!! Absolutely beautiful.
She was just 15yrs old when she recorded this song, one of the greatest female singers of all time
Love you guys for loving Brenda Lee. And she could belt like no other, too. As you can probably imagine.
Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, Connie Francis... There are so many beautiful songstresses who had this kind of incredible vocal impact.
One of my mom's favorite singers. Love ya, Mom
You guys are real music lovers, I dig watching you discover the music I grew up with. Please react to another classic, "Love Letters" by Ketty Lester, live 1964, thank you.
There's a song by Derrick and the Dominos called Layla. The two are some of the best guitarist in the world Eric Clapton and A guy who died in an accident from Lynard Skinner and he makes the guitar cry! UNBELIEVABLE!
Had the pleasure of seeing her perform @ the local county fair before she was "big". Though @ 4'9" tall was tiny. She was fantastic though none of us knew she would become such a star.
Not sure if you reacted to this. If not, you'll love it. It was her one hit wonder! If I Can't Have You
Song by Yvonne Elliman
Brenda was one of the early female county music singers. Her song is a classic of all time.
Lovely reaction to a great song and performance. Thanks.
"Losing You" is my favourite Brenda Lee song.
She Was Only 15 Years Old When She Recorded This.
Born in 1945,
Recorded In 1960
"I'm Sorry " Peaked At #1!
She Truly Had One Of The Most Amazing Voices Ever Recorded.
There Is A RUclips Clip Of Her Getting Inducted Into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
Omg she sang so beautiful. I grew up watching my grandmother listisong to this. Brings back memories
Simply fantastic, such a angelic voice. 😇😇😇😇😇
“Golden Earring” pays homage to Brenda Lee in “Radar Love”.
What a superb voice! Beautiful and so sweet!
SO GREAT TO SEE THIS GO FIND MORE SHE WAS REALLY SMALL WOMAN AND THAT VOICE IS REAL. WHAT YOU HEAR IS REAL. SHE AT A OLDER AGE SOUNDS JUST AS GOOD
This song was very popular when I was in single digits age wise. It was something that affected me because I remember the pain I felt for her. She was just a kid. 15 I think. She could sing!
she had 47 US chart hits during the 1960s and is ranked fourth in that decade, surpassed only by Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Ray Charles.--Wikapedia
Love that cute southern belle accent.
What they don't realize while listening to this wonderful voice, is that she was 15 years old when she recorded this. Incredible. A true natural talent.
When I was in high school I had a crush on Brenda Lee. She came to perform at our county fair. I was so excited. I walked two miles to that concert.
The very first record I owned was a 45 my grandpa gave me of Brenda Lee and my favorite song on it was "Johnny One Time". Can't remember if it was the A side or the flip side, but it was such a powerful song to me. She was called "The little girl with the big voice." She was, I believe, 12 when she had her first hit. I could be wrong, but it was something like that. Would love for you guys to react to "Johnny One Time". :)
LOVE her VOICE IS I BELIEVE HER MOM SAID YES BRENDA
GO OUT SING IT WAS
LIKE TALENT SHOW AND SHE WAS 12URS.
AND OFF SHE WENT. WISH TO HEAR DAN E AROUND CHRISTMAS
TREE. ONE OF KIND SHE IS.🤗
You need some "Hell to the Yeah"! merch Ck out Albert Collins aka the Iceman aka King of the strat....Too many dishes in the kitchen live.
No one should be surprised she signed a recording contract at age 13 or 14. Unbelievable voice!!!
Great song.
Sounds like she might have had an influence on Ronnie Spector from the Ronettes.
Brenda Lee was performing and singing "Sweet Nothing" and "Jambalaya" at the tender age of 8 years old on TV and was killing it.
She’s awsome ❤️
You schould react to ” my whole world is falling down ”, and ” fool nr 2” by her . Great songs 😊
