      I believe it is an 18 inch deep by 3 or 4 feet. It is not the best fit I might hope for, but it works.

    That' s thé only cargo and bike carrier I ever seen loaded up this way. It is made here in Québec and Will improve thé cargo capacity of any class B and C . Thé price is very affordable for our Américain friends out there. I own one for my Ebikes , I love it. Thank you for a great vidéo sir.

    Thanks for sharing this information! We have been living full time in our travel trailer for 5 months and have been looking for that perfect bike carrier. We will most likely get one. Happy travels!

      Not sure how we would get by without the extra space. We didn't want a larger van, and we can always take it off if we need to.

    So this is a sprinter van. I believe the hitch rating may be higher than what I am purchasing. would it be safe enough to use one of these on the Ford Transit 350 HD (Ontour 2.2)?

    • @stivostenberg

      What is your hitch rating, and what do you want to put in the carrier? Ours is loaded, but it you are carrying bikes alone no problem.

    Thank you for this video. The Europeans are way ahead of us by developing RV's that have high beds with garage storage space underneath like the Leisure Travel Van WONDER.
    Your folding bikes are great, but many seniors have strength, endurance, and BALANCE issues that prevent them from riding two wheeled bikes even though they want to.
    FOLDING RECUMBENT TADPOLE TRIKES are the ideal solution for that problem, but that size KOMO is too small to hold them. Only if KOMO made a larger size could you fit two inside.
    Check out the Catrike Dumont, the HP Velotechnik Scorpion or Scorpion Plus, the AZUB Ti - Fly, the ICE Adventure, the Greenspeed Magnum XL Trike which holds up to 450 lbs. and the less expensive Spike 380. A folding bike or FOLDING RECUMBNET TRIKE greatly enhance the RV experience.

      @@stivostenberg You must have older friends who would love to bike, but no longer can. It is for them that these recumbent trikes serve as the welcome solution.

    How does it lock?
    Did you add additional locks?

    • @stivostenberg
      @stivostenberg 3 года назад

      We rekeyed the lock. It has a cabinet lock and latch that turn and rods that shoot up and down to hold the edges. I have had those pop out on rough roads so we also put a ratchet strap around it

    Hello, Thank you for sharing this information with us about the Como carrier. I have a couple of questions. Do you have it attached to the van at two separate points, each a couple of feet from the center 2 inch receiver? Would it be possible to attach it to the 2 inch receiver and a couple of feet to the right, but not attach it to the left of the receiver? How far up under your van, do these bars extend? We are really interested in one of these, but I would love to hear from a consumer, like you before ordering.

    • @vanellopespitstop3093
      @vanellopespitstop3093  4 года назад

      The original reciever is like a "U" under the van, with the reciever in the back center. We had two additional reievers welded to the sides of the "U" . Stops it from bouncing around so much,and a little more peace of mind.

      List is about $2400, but we got 20% off at the time we bought it. We had it shipped to a dealer in the US. There is a distributor in Maine that sells them here.

    Can you swing that storage box out far enough to open that right rear door completely? I’m looking for a solution like this for traveling with my bike to keep it out of weather. I store all my hoses and cords in a rear compartment in the back of the van that’s in the bottom right corner of the back. My right rear door needs to open ALL the way for me to access. Also since this company is so far away and I’m not sure about returns, I’m hoping you could answer a few more questions... is it waterproof? Does it interfere with rear backup cam? Does it interfere with blind spot alerts on the side mirrors (if you have that)?

    • @stivostenberg
      @stivostenberg 3 года назад +2

      It opens enough to access the entire back of the van, though not "all the way" which is to fold back along the edge. Opens 90 degrees. We have had no water get into the carrier, though it does sometimes get into the inside of the door and drains when the door opens. It's all plastic, so no problem. It does sorta interfere with backup cam, in that I cannot see down the face of the carrier to see what it there, but we still use the backup cam. It DOES disable the blind spot assist on the van, as it uses the trailer harness for the lights, and using the trailer harness disables BSA.

    I think these are great. How much does the Komo Carrier weigh when empty? What is the maximum weight it can hold?

    • @stivostenberg
      @stivostenberg 5 лет назад

      Max weight is 500 pounds. We are probably close, (that is tongue limit on our van)

    • @stivostenberg
      @stivostenberg 4 года назад

      The weight it carries is limited by the tongue weight on the hitch. We had two additional hitches added to cover that, and to stabilize the carrier on forest service roads. We prefer to over engineer things. 500 Pounds is the tongue weight by default,.

  • @camiwyatt
    @camiwyatt 3 года назад

    Sorry for redundant questions here. I’m a bit unclear on answers. What is the weight limit of the cargo carrier “as is”. Does it attach to a “normal” 2 inch hitch receiver? I’m not understanding the additional hitch things (pretty clueless sorry$I have a 500 lb tongue weight capability but many cargo carriers have their own specific limit. Does it have plugged drain holes? Many thanks for your video. Their website has nearly zero detail as you know I’m sure.

    • @vanellopespitstop3093
      @vanellopespitstop3093  3 года назад

      Think it is a bit over 100 pounds. With our heavy duty platform we added, which adds 100 pounds we still have capacity for bikes and stuff.

    • @vanellopespitstop3093
      @vanellopespitstop3093  4 года назад +3

      Absolutely love it. Stays dry inside. Our problem is that we probably overload it. We modified it after this video to add two more hitch mounts on the back we we have three mount points instead of one. Stops it from bouncing as much, but adds weight.

      Yes, a locksmith can replace the key. We replaced all external locks on the van and Komo with locks that were keyed alike and were not the insecure 751 key.

    Be very careful about how much weight you put behind the rear axle. Weight will come off your steering axle. Not necessarily a good idea.
