the amount of work for just the two of you is just breath taking, i dont know where or how do you "'charge'" your batteries, but it is a hell of project
I reckon that all the other RUclipsrs should watch this build, as it is something that I don't think anyone else has even thought about, never mind tried to do. I know others have modded cars and built from a car from scratch, but this is something on another level. This going to be one of the greatest (if not the greatest) builds ever tried on RUclips and it will be very complexed and difficult to do, but you two will make it look so easy (even though it isn't). Can't wait for the next installment.
Good sir what people have jogged in their mind to actually do but never do your are actually doing!! Keep up the great work, and thanks for detailing the obstacles with clarity. It's gonna be a mental finished product in the end!
You are correct. The floor pan and tunnel are the first part that goes on the welding line. Then the front rails and trunk section are welded on, followed by the sides, firewall, etc. Best of luck with this build!
I remember years ago we switched everything from a wrecked Pontiac GTO to a Pontiac Lemans including converting it to a stick shift. And it was fairly straight forward as they were basically the same. I can't even fathom taking on this swap. It will be interesting seeing the challenges you face. Before it's over you will be seeing wiring harnesses in your sleep.
You guys are awesome to watch. I love how you are willing to take on these projects most others wouldn’t even bother to do. Seriously, if I ever decide to have a car rebuilt, I’m sending it to you guys 👏🏾
I wonder would it have been easier to have transplanted the A6 body onto the S6 chassis/ floor pan as you would then be building it as Audi does. I'm assuming that the A6 is a Quattro so the rear subframe will fit, are the dimensions/mounting points the same on both vehicles. I would dearly love to be there working on this project with you (out of sight, I'm camera shy) but sadly that will never happen. Keep up the fantastic work guys and everyone else keep pushing this channel these guys deserve all the help we can give them 👍🏻
What a great project, loving the detail. However, just a quick question; wouldn't it be easier to just transfer the roof and rear hatch from the Avant (wagon) over to the S6 Sedan? You wouldn't have to try and repair the front end, or replace the dashboard, and you wouldn't have to chop out the floor from the S6.
I’ve been waiting for this video. We used to do this back in the day and was much easier to do. Now we see how you build your modern Hot Rod wagon the wagon Audi should have exported here. They have a new one coming out in 2020 that they should bring here. Good luck with the build✌🏽
As always you guys are willing to take on the toughest of projects. I admire your work ethic. Your skill is top notch. The videos have been very entertaining.
Cool video. I just bought a 2009 s6. I am always looking for new info about them and the 5.2L V10. It is great to see one taken apart to see how everything goes together. Especially if I do not need to pay someone to take mine apart. I am in Miami. Good luck with the build, it looks like a hell of a challenge. I will be watching.
I've been waiting for this video to see how you do the transmission tunnel. Unfortunately, I don't have time to watch it today, bit will be top priority to watch tomorrow. This is getting really interesting!
This will definitely be a challenging build. Wonder if the front doors are the same in the two cars. Would have considered swapping the mid rear sections. Just a lazy thought though. Great progress
Woow, I'm from the Czech Republic and this channel is absolutely amazing. Continue what you do so much I like it in the Czech Republic nothing like that! (I like AUDI too much) :D
What a massive job. This is one of those jobs where you start what seems like it will be not too difficult, then you run into all sorts of issues and you wonder whether you should have started it in the first place. But then this makes you even more determined to continue overcoming all the obstacles, because you know you'll get through it, even if it does take a lot longer than first anticipated. The end goal will be worth it when the job is finished and you end up with what you envisaged at the start. Whoever butchered that structural rail behind the dash was a total fool and just as well that they had a front collision and not a side impact, otherwise, they might have died as a result of their own stupidity. I've never seen anything as stupid as that done before. Changing the transmission tunnel turned out to be a bigger job than anticipated with the way the car was built, but knowing you, you'll get through that with flying colors and it will look like a factory job with no indication that the tunnel was even changed. These newer vehicles sure have incredible wire harnesses. There must be 20 miles of wire there if you ran it end to end. Because of the differences between the two cars, I guess you'll be swapping over the wire harness from the parts car as well. Then you'll also have to swap over all the computers and other electrical devices, basically meaning that you will actually be doing more of a body transplant from a sedan to a wagon. A while back, I swapped the engine and transmission in my 1982 Mitsubishi L300 van from the existing 1.6 Litre engine and 4 speed column shift to a 2.0 Litre engine and 5 speed floor shift from a wrecked 1991 L300 van. I ran into all sorts of issues and it took me 11 weeks to complete the job, but I knew it would be worth it in the end. The van is so much better to drive now, with 30% more power and 30% more torque and the floor shift with bucket seats and centre console look factory fitted. But it's now a one of a kind, just like your wagon will be when it's completed. Looking forward to the next episode in this marathon build. I only wish your videos were posted more often, but with the complexity of the work involved, it's understandable that you can't post them any faster.. Keep on keeping on. It will be well worth it in the end when you are driving your dream car. All the best from Australia
Man you hit it right on the head. I couldnt have said it better! We definitely didn’t Anticipate that it was going to be so much work! And the thought of should have I even started this crossed my mind lol. But it’ll be definitely worth it once it’s done. Awesome that your van conversation worked out and that your enjoying it!
Don't worry about electronic hardware and wires. You WILL be swapping EVERYTHING from s6. How I know? Well, right I saw that sensor on s6 window. Audis are notorious for CAN buses overdoses, and if you start messing with, for example, brake lights, than your ABS will not work, so shifter on transmission and so on. I'm looking for swap from fwd shitty CVT to more affordable t-tronic with awd and let me tell you- it just complete nightmare... So good luck. I'll be waiting for more for sure.
Great content I’ve subscribed, the germans sure know how to make complicated cars! That wagon has been butchered by it previous owner, Personally I would cut the body off both and swap them over, wouldn’t that be easier? Good luck!!
I just have to ask, were these never registered in the US or something? They cost like 7k for a decent one in europe, the S6 that is.. I'm happy you're doing it, because I can check out a few things without pulling the engine myself, but damn this has to be worth it somehow? 👀
The black coloured module in the passengers footwell is the CAN gateway for the MMI system. You might want to look at putting the later MMI3G system in it's place, it's a decent upgrade and adds quite a bit of capability. Whoever hacked the dash to install some aftermarket system, shouldn't be allowed near a car again, what a moron! Some project this is, good luck!
I was thinking about buying and S6 with the V10 as a weekend car.... Not after seeing how this engine is setup. I already have engine 3.0tfsi supercharged in the shop with $13K of repairs
@@RushinGarage I don't want to scare you, but electrics are a bigger problem than turning your spaners. Of course, I'm waiting for the next video and I keep my fingers crossed for you
How ever had the car before us they installed a pioneer head unit and it has a deep box. So they hacked everything in the dash and heater box just to put in a aftermarket radio 🤷🏼♂️
Well we had to remove the dash frame and heater box anyway to cut out the tunnel so when we put everything back we’ll just use the parts from the parts car
i wonder if it would not be easier to just cut the back half of the wagon and graph it on to the sedan. can't imagine how much this would cost if having to pay a shop
Two (groups of) persons need to get fired and made forced to work at a male massage parlour for the rest of their life: 1. The mechanics at that particular Audi dealer for bad maintenance and throwing the car together after a major service. 2. The Homies who cut the innards of the dash to pieces just to get a aftermarket headunit in there. Both are a goddamn disgrace of their particular profession. They make cars like these look bad, while in fact it's not the car, it's the indifferent butchers who 'work' on them.
We apologize for the audio quality in this video. We will try to improve it in our next episodes.
When the 4 part come out nice vid !
You guy's are out of control, 285 + spot welds, a ton of work and your just getting started. Now that's dedication!!!!!
And we just as many on the parts car!
I’ve had some bad Audi ideas before. But this one takes the cake.
the amount of work for just the two of you is just breath taking, i dont know where or how do you "'charge'" your batteries, but it is a hell of project

You Are Awesome man. Cutting the tunnel for this project. No problem is to big for you. It is a pleasure to follow your work.
other people would have given up but you are not ...........really good ............number one !!!!!!!!

you must be in the .0001% to not get discouraged after your build snowballed to such a huge project.
am looking forward to many more videos to come.
This is going to be a very interesting build. One of the most complex build you guys have done yet.. But you will succeed.
This is turning out to be a custom instead of a restoration... awesome! I’m going to enjoy this one...

Going waaaaayy down the rabbit hole! Keep up the good work, loving the videos.

Thank you
Firtst episode :we're gonna be swapping engine and repairing front rihgt end.
Third episode :cutting off half of flor haha
Yeah it escalated quickly lol

wow, what a labor of love, are you going to swap out the wiring harness?
Yes we’re planning on it
That tunnel coming out of your wagon kinda looks like the Star Trek Enterprise !!!
The gold colour you found is brazing used to join metal without welding and changing the metallurgy of the metals
Wow!!Tough job but I think you can handle it. Excited for the next video!
Wow dude, that’s a lot of work. I hope the rest of it goes easier. You are brave souls to be messing with all the German electrical components too..
Thanks. I think we should be able to put everything together. I think.. lol

did you meassure the chasis??, I belive the S6 are wider
Can’t wait for the install.

Wasn't it easier to take the complete front from the S6 and the back from the a6 ?
When is a new episode coming?
Are you getting to the point it would be easier to rebuild the donor car?
Dude it looks hard, but you're doing an outstanding job! At the end it will be worth all the agony, LOL! Stick with it!
Coming along nicely
Very n1, please give us more :)
How long did the engine pull take you all?
I think that was easiest to transfer back of the white on silver and make silver like avant ;)
Its to late to do this

So where is the finished Audi?
Weld in some supports to ensure the chassis is still straight when cut...
What’s with the se trim level steering wheel....thought it was a S6
