I have an AT2020 mic, steinburg audio interface and popfiter and vox guard portable booth.

Bro you can cop a mic shield from 50-100 bucks the gate thing can sound really bad. A gate will only try to mask whats there. a mic shield can help limit that from the recording
The Internetz I could show you countless of recordings I’ve recorded with this thing in hotel rooms, bedrooms etc. it makes a HUGE difference I don’t believe anyone that has made a video saying other wise huge mistake in my opinion to not having one in a room that is not optimal

Might not see this but I've recently just did everything in this video! I recorded a track and had my plugins on, had my mic filter inches away from the mic, and recorded my vocals low enough to only have the focusrite hitting green even at the loudest part. This was a game changer for my recordings.
How do I reduce the latency when I record with all the plugins on in the templates? I have an Apollo but when I track thru the Apollo I don’t get the same effect like in the templates. Is there a way to track thru the templates with no latency?
Really depends what your budget is... a preamp can be a great addition to your workflow however if you haven't mastered these concepts such as; Recording your vocal signal in the most appropriate way, eq, compression (parallel too), sends/bussing to aux tracks, delays, saturation. And a decent mastering chain process. Dont even waste your time with a preamp, because you won't know how to get the best out of the equipment.

Why do some of my beats cause my vocal to basically be totally forward and sound unmixed even with eq reverb compression? It’s like sometimes it fits perfectly and my recording fits perfect, and other beats it’s sounds horrible. Is this normal if my beats too quiet or Needs mastering?
