I believe that all of their albums are very good, so there are no "worst" albums here. I just thought I'd share them in my order of preference. Please share your rankings in the comments! There are no wrong answers here! Thanks for watching, and there will be lots more ranking in the future!

Great job. My ranking would be somehow different with Deadwing being number one and Lightbulb Sun definitely taking a lower spot, but it's all down to everyone's taste. PT are a brilliant band and we all can surely agree on this.
It's extremely hard to rank some of these. On any given day, this list could be in a different order. But currently, this is my list:
1. The Incident (when I bought the cd, it came with the 4 "bonus" songs on the same disc as the "main" songs, so I got used to listening to it that way and that will always be how I view the album.)
2. Deadwing
3. Lightbulb Sun
4. In Absentia
5. Fear of a Blank Planet
6. Stupid Dream
7. Closure / Continuation
8. Signify
9. The Sky Moves Sideways
10. Up the Down Stairs
11. On the Sunday of Life
My list:
11. On The Sunday of Life
10. Closure/Continuation
9. Down on the Upstair
8. Signify
7. Deadwing
6. Stupid Dream
5. The Sky Moves Sideways
4. Fear of A Blank Planet
3. The Incident
2. In Absentia
1. Lightbulb Sun
Great video displaying how great the PT discography is. Porcupine Tree is one of my all time favorite bands. They were the second band I got into after I explored the Rush catalog and is one of the main artists responsible for forming my music taste. In Absentia blew my mind and was my number 1 for a long time, but has been surpassed by a couple others, but I still think it’s a perfect album.
ALBUM RANKING:
1. Fear of a Blank Planet (2007) - 10/10
2. Deadwing (2005) - 10/10
3. In Absentia (2002) - 10/10
4. Lightbulb Sun (2000) - 9.5/10
5. Stupid Dream (1999) - 9.5/10
6. Closure / Continuation (2022) - 9.5/10
7. The Incident (2009) - 9.5/10
8. Signify (1996) - 9/10
9. The Sky Moves Sideways (1995) - 9/10
10. Up the Downstair (1993) - 9/10
11. On the Sunday of Life... (1992) - 7/10
ALBUM RATING SYSTEM:
10: Perfect
9 - 9.5: Essential
8 - 8.5: Great

My favorite PT album changes monthly. So many truly great albums.
Great ranking and you're very well spoken! This inspires me to make my own ranking of PTs albums (and maybe a tier list for fun). In the meantime, here is my current ranking of their albums:
11. On The Sunday of Life
10. Down on the Upstair
9. The Sky Moves Sideways
8. Signify
7. Lightbulb Sun
6. Stupid Dream
5. The Incident
4. Closure/Continuation
3. Fear of A Blank Planet
2. Deadwing
1. In Absentia
Thank you! I really appreciate it! Great list!
Great stuff, I really liked hearing your opinion on the albums. Personally I would change the place of Fear of a Blank Planet and Lightbulb Sun's placement. Deadwing and Lightbulb Sun are pretty equal imo. Fear of a Blank Planet could've been so much more if it had a few more songs, sadly it falls a bit short to In Absentia's huge catalogue of bangers. Another thing is that I much more prefer the live versions of FOABP songs they did at the Anesthetize.
(I’m working on a Porcupine Tree episode right now. So how dare you!!!)
(Can’t wait to see your list! I can see where I got it wrong 😉)
A very good and comprehensive ranking, great work.
Thank you!
Great trip through Porcupine Tree music. I’m a long time fan, and it was very interesting to witness other person’s way of discovery. I really like your style
My Top 11 are:

3) Deadwing
4) Closure / Continuation
5) Stupid Dream
6) Signify
7) The Incident

9) The Sky Moves Sideways

I LOVE "Bonnie the Cat" I suppose that's what makes us all different. But Bonnie the Cat for me is one of their best tracks in their whole catalogue.
Here’s My Personal Top 11…
1) Fear of a Blank Planet/
Nil Recurring EP
2) In Absentia
3) Deadwing
4) Closure/Continuation
5) Stupid Dream
6) Lightbulb Sun
7) The Incident
8) The Sky Move’s Sideways
9) Signify
10) Up the Downstair
11) On Sunday of Life
Not to dissimilar to yours, just swap 2 & 3 but as you know, if asked to rank at a different time and mood there may be a few slight glitches as each have got their charm even those placed in the lower half. I mean I love Radioactive Toy & Nine Cats and I've placed that album at 11th place.
Early music education is always underestimated. With you it has taken place thanks to your dad😉😂. My no.1 In Absentia too.☮🇩🇪
Fascinating, Nathan.
I have yet to deep dive in to the post '90s prog albums. I'm becoming aware of these newer groups, and have heard albums via reactions from creators I follow, but have definitely not done full catalog listens yet.
Now, I am a huge fan of ambient/electronica. The electronic greats of the '70s, i.e., Jarre, Vangelis, Schulze, etc., are my go to for de-stress listening, along with Anderson's Olias of Sunhillow. Based on what you describe of Porcupine Tree's catalog, it sounds as though you and I would reverse our rankings. I'll have to check out the earlier albums.
Good list, but I would personally rank The Incident much higher.
My list would be very similar to yours...my only possible alteration might be Fear, any LP with Anesthetize on it really ought to be very near the top, what a fantastic track, Like you I love Lightbulb Sun, a fabulous LP that could easily be on top on any other day? I do a Desert Island Discs selection in my mind, Why would anybody care what I think... but I only include epics. I have Meddle, Anesthetize, Suppers Ready, Tarkus + Pictures at an Exhibition ( is that the best thing they ever did..maybe?) Close to the Edge, Thick as a Brick, The Snow Goose, I love the fact that Porcupine Tree were just a made up band originally (pretend) him and his friend created them out of thin air on the premise that they were a long forgotten late 60s/70s prog band and they had discovered an unrecorded session (Tarquins Seaweed Farm), they sent it out to Radio Djs and strangely found that this completely fictional band started to get noticed. They are now though a Top top band.
Anesthetize is definitely amazing! I like your desert island disc compilation, definitely an epic collection there!
My top five would be 1. DeadWing 2.Fear of a Blank Planet 3. The Incident 4. Lightbulb sun 5. Closure/Continuation
For these kind of lists, the ranking is less important for me, because, obviously, everybody that ends here is a fan, to some extend, and has his own taste and preference in terms of style. What I really appreciate are your comments for the different albums. Will defnitely lead me to re-listen to some of the albums I appreciated less.
My personal favorites are Lightbulb Sun and In Absentia, which probalby gives you an idea in what direction im trending in regards to their style. Big Marillion (H era) fan by the way.
Glad you appreciated the comments on the albums. It sounds like we have some of the same favorites. I'm slowly becoming more and more of a Marillion fan...I really dove deep into their catalog this year!
Great video
Happy to see you ranking Porcupine Tree albums Nathan as they're a great band! I know the album ranking videos are a lot of work but I'd love to see more. I did a PT album ranking with a friend of mine on my channel as well so maybe you'll like this: ruclips.net/video/6da3wUFlx5A/видео.html
WRONG WRONG WRONG! How DARE you have an opinion that's different from mine! kidding of course. I'm still working on my personal list. it's tough because they're all so good. Deciding between them is picking nits. At this point it's come down to Deadwing, Stupid Dream, and The Sky Moves Sideways as my #1. interesting enough, one from each era. Now I have to decide if I prefer the psychedelic, the melodic, or the heavy more and which combines them best and in the right proportion.
Ha! I’m probably a bit over-sensitive when it comes to certain comments, but by and large most people are very respectful. Those are all great albums vying for your #1!
