He’s not dead, it’s implied in dialogue that he’s just gone for now.
He teleported or was teleported away milisecond before the blast.
2:02 Best shot in any of the ESO trailers so far, the amount of subtle emotion portrayed dialogue-free on an inhuman face is phenomenal.
Why don't "they" make a movie like this? These cinematics are usually amazing. They don't even have dialogue but it doesn't matter. That cat person looked really worried.

ESO's cinematics are justified because they're 3 minute long commercials with minimal storytelling and 0 dialogue for a yearly video game expansion.
Arcane is a good example. It's a 3D/2D hybrid animated 9 episode TV series that took 6 years to make on a budget of $100 million (by superhero movie standards, $100 million isn't a lot. But by non-superhero movie standards, it's a lot).
The ONLY reason Arcane got its funding and production approved was because it's meant to be a very long advert for League of Legends, and not anything else.
The show turned out fantastic due to the talent involved, but sometimes you don't get so lucky.
Blur Studios (the ones who make ESO's cinematic trailers) also handled Halo Wars 2's cutscenes and there were 30 minutes of them, so it's not *impossible* to make an ESO movie/TV show that's full CG, but convincing studio executives to spend the money on it would be difficult.

He might not be dead, if you do MSQ after the Elsweyr storyline, you will still meet him like nothing happened
Canonically he is since the main quest up to the current chapter all flows one after the other.
Given how he was pretty weak by the end of elsweyr, it’s pretty much guaranteed he accepted death in this trailer
@@tjwarden6253 Still, it is strange to meet him in MSQ after finishing Elsweyr, since now, with Isle of Balfiera tutorial, you can do storylines in any order you want (and me personally, ever since I purchased the expansion, I always start in Elsweyr, I just love the biome). Hard to say how it is with canonicall order, given that the players are one to decide how the storylines will follow

idk about everyone else, but that music when Skyrim was revealed gave me shivers, I hope they do the Skyrim chapter's OST justice like they did with Morrowind's
Morrowind is still such a solid zone. Can only hope they got someone leading on Skyrim to be as good.
Vvardenfell is a good zone, but the playable area is smaller than most, due to Red Mountain. I think Wrothgar is actually larger.
I personally love each of the 3 chapter zones. Morrowind was a nostalgia trap and I was baited hard, Summerset had probably the most interesting storyline to me in the game, and Elsweyr (north + south) perfectly capped off the character arc for two of the three remaining OG companions. One can only hope that Skyrim is just as great as it's predecessors.

One of the best GAMES i've ever played. Since I started in June, I've played for 1432 hours and have only explored and 100% cleared 12 / 33 zones (including the fishing achievement for each of those areas) as well as reach 542CP. Literally so much content to take part in.

This hit me on so many levels of emotions. First seeing the cinematic final fight for Elsweyr which was awesome! Then sadness seeing Tharn sacrifice himself to save Elsweyr (still can't get over that :/) but then that surprise reveal of Skyrim at the end!! I cannot wait for this! :D
I feel you, but I also think we’ve spent a lot of time on the dominion and on the ebon pact. I also want to visit the covenant. They have such rich lore

@@mnorbert4188 Possibly, he is a master mage after all & a cunning man. Like Sai said: "If there was another way out he'd find it". But he was physically weakened throughout the Southern Elsweyr story. I guess time will tell, i'd like him to come back tho! :)

Omfg! Tharn really died. The greatest battlemage of the era meet his end saving Elsweyr from destruction. He died a hero. Great ending for this character.

Seeing Lyris Titanborn is absent in the game now. I think she is the sacrificial death in the official ESO lore.
I absolutely love these cinematics. I hope some time in 50 years there will be a virtual reality experience of the elder scrolls like the cinematics but life like!

I believe who you're thinking of is Jagar Tharn from the first TES game, Arena, which takes place about 700 years after the events of ESO, who is a descendant of Abnur Tharn!

The amount of magical strength portrayed here, especially by a pure imperial, is nothing short of godlike.
But magic, big or small, is all outside of human capabilities. That's like saying Person A can fly around slowly, but Person Zed...? They can fly really fast! Zed is almost Godlike and Person A is a lowly pleb. Might as well be out there walking and shit.

they have opened a gate that contained dragons from the Great Dragon War. Kaalgrontiid is a top-ranking dragon and his objective was to steal the moon`s power. He failed. The red dragon is an ally who opposed one dragon and his crew (who persued the power of green crystals found in the southern part of Elsweyr).
Try it. If you are afraid of MMOs, keep in mind that TESO (!) is an Elder Scrolls game with an MMO bolted on, not the other way around

The dragons here are so huge that it sorta makes Alduin and his whole posse look like skinny lizards. Second era dragons were out here making gains!
The blast was pushing Abnur back, couldn't he have just kept getting pushed back into the portal while holding off the blast and stayed alive? 😂
Also, couldn't the portal be made closer to him, instead of 15 feet away? Also, couldn't he create a barrier around himself instead of the blast so he wouldn't have to control the entire thing and so the blast would have room to lose power?
Also, just what was the point of his self sacrifice? It accomplished absolutely nothing, and he could have just as easily lived.

It's explained in-game that if Abnur wasn't there to contain the explosion, it wouldn't have covered just the island, but the whole continent of Tamriel. So Abnur had to stay there.
They've definitely gotten better at making trailers and setting up a story.
I was balling when Abnur died :( Such an awesome character, I hope they bring him back, truly. Make our character save him from daedric prince or something.

Damn, this trailer was awesome! The only thing I missed is the voice acting and the story telling, because its hard to understand for a newbie whose are these characters and whats happening, but its still incredibly good! I love it! :D
After I get bored of wow, my life was so empty, there are so few fantasy worlds left to get used to it, lived two year in the boring void, but then I found Elder Scrolls Online, and made my life so hype again. Thanks for this

do race to the end game enjoy the journey in eso , the quest stories are good and a great way to learn about some of the lore characters

I have to say, I absolutely love the music element here.
As a day one player on xbox one, I have to say that the Season of the Dragon storylines and questlines has been my favourite so far. If you haven't got Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr and you are thinking about getting it, i highly recommend that you do. There is so much to do, and there is a massive community to play with.
