When I first saw this movie and the part where Gamera was awakened by the explosion of that Atomic bomb reminded me of the same thing that happened in the movie 'The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms' where the title monster was revived in the exact same way.
Not in this movie. Here, Gamera is just a menace, although he's not as malevolent as Godzilla. His hero trait wasn't realized until the later Showa films.
Gammera loves children. He sprinkles them on his ice creme. Poor Toshi. Lonely in a lighthouse, no friends, only a turtle for a playmate. Can't have that. The school and parents decide he is not lonely enough. So make him give up the only thing he loves. Its good for him. ???
I love the beautiful Harumi Kiritachi and it's great to hear the voice of Peter Fernandez in the dubbing cast!

Love the old monster movies
The older monster movies from the 1950s - 1970s were, and still are, timeless classics. I prefer them over most monster movies you see in today's era.

Anyone find it funny that they spelled his name with 2 m's in this movie but in later films it's only with one m.

I prefer the original uncut Japanese version. The American scenes seem very out of place for this movie
