Not really the case. Orwell made a mistake. His novel, 1984, was used as propaganda by the rich and wealthy against the working class. It was used against any reasonable action that was aimed at improving the situation of the working class. He didn't know what he was doing. Not a genius. Definitely not the case. He was a normal guy.

Well... he didn't, did he? As soon as he could, he dropped it. Which is quite amazing, if your consider it, for the party of "law and order" not to prosecute someone as "crooked" as Hillary. According to Trump, she was the worst criminal ever. Well... until Joe Biden beat him.
Point is: Trump will do everything to secure his "win"... as long as he believes he can get away with it. Lie, steal, cheat, break any law on the books. He knew very well that a Hillary Clinton under constant accusation was to his benefit... a Hillary Clinton being charged and tried before a court would not be.
He was not that far gone in his own delusions that he believed his own lies. By now... I'm not so sure about that any more.
But because Trump is Trump... he will continue to lie, steal, cheat and break laws... because lots of people are still letting him get away with it.
No more! I don't have high hopes for the sentence... but even the verdict turned out to be a nice surprise. Maybe we will still get to see him in prison.

So like, the election lie is not the big lie. I get mainstream media perpetuates a misunderstanding, but still, referring to the election lie as the big lie still doesn't sit right with me.
The "big lie" refers to the lie that led people to support Nazi Germany. The lie that the Jews, communists, whatever, were out to get the working man, and it was the party and it's leader that served as the only thing protecting them. By believing that lie, they fell for every other lie the Nazi party espoused.
When applied to the maga movement, you have to understand, the "big lie" is not the election lie, that's just another lie people believe because they already believe the big lie. Then the moderator pointed out that just 2 minutes earlier all their hands were in the air, and huminnah, huminnah, huminnah. Cognitive dissidence dies hard. If she were to win this election, it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis.
In that situation, we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately, a criminal trial.

Trump started out telling them what they wanted to hear, and telling them that they were allowed to openly express themselves instead of having to have the self-discipline to refrain from showing their ugliness openly. This was the hook, and once they bit-down on the hook they were caught, and even as Trump revealed more and more of who he really was, they simply continued to accept what they saw, no matter how much it violates the principles that they claimed to have had at the beginning.

Prosecutors LOVE to fole charges against The Donald! It’s so easy to gather video evidence from news media and political rally attendees (via their cellphones). His father never disciplined him as a child, so he never developed self restraint. He confesses his crimes on national television, sometimes improvising in the middle of a prepared speech. In my 45 years of self employment, I learned to listen for inconsistencies. I avoided such people as conducting business with them tended to end badly. One of my T-shirts says “Always tell the truth. There’s less to remember.” Useful thought for a 78 year old convicted felon.

Jon Stewart explained the issue with the media pretty well in his recent show. They've completely given up on doing their job.
Didn't he literally say "you'd be in jail" at one of the debates? Trump's base is as willing to lie, cynically and gleefully, as he is.
The problem is that his followers don't care whatever he says. It is hard to understand how blind and deaf people are nowadays for dear leader. So many brave men lost their life to free the country I grew up to free us of such a man/circle. Very sad.

Not all of them just as all cultists never leave the cult willingly, but I think enough of them will that there will be a blue Landslide this time, especially if Trump keeps up his victim diatribe and his signs of dementia keep growing stronger. Some people are already changing their mind and there are a lot of good RUclipss on Republican voters against Trump of former Republican voters who voted for Trump once or twice and will not do it again
I've been hearing that for years and they still haven't.
Time to stop trying to bring them to thier senses, and start trying to overcome them. If that gets some of them to break out, good. But we're past the point that we can count on it.
