- Eddie Vedder dedicating Pearl Jam's song "Daughter" to Lily Cornell-Silver, the daughter of his friends Chris Cornell and Susan Silver. Video recorded at Pearl Jam's concert at Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, Netherlands on June 27, 2012. Lily's 12th birthday was on June 28, 2012. Vedder also sang a snippet of "W.M.A." towards the end.

Last 20th, my son also celebrated his 12th anniversary at an Eddie's concert in Lisbon (his 2nd). Unfortunately he didn't have the chance to meet his favourite alive singer. Guess we will have to attend at leat one more concert, hopefully soon. His favourite song is Lightning Bolt, his favourite lyrics Black.

I'm sorry, but this is slap in Chris' face. If you've ever listened to the lyrics. It's about a father loosing his daughter's love. She say's "Don't call me daughter. Not fair to." It's not a song I would want dedicated to my daughters. I promise.

I was thinking that too. All it has in common with the situation is the name “Daughter” but Chris was alive then so I wonder what he thought about it.
Hi, this is not a slap in Chris' face. For different reasons and people in Chris' life that don't need to be discussed in such a sweet video, Lily was mostly raised by Susan, who obviously did a tremendous job as a single mother considering how empathic, caring and smart Lily seems to be.
Lily and Susan have also said in some ocassions that raising her "took a village", meaning that they were lucky to have the love and support from a lot of wonderful people from Seattle who were very much present in their lives, one of them being Eddie (and his family).
Obviously Lily had an immense love for her father, hence the wonderful mental health series she did for two years to honor him and help others who might have the same struggles.
But the fact that Eddie dedicated Daughter to Lily seems apt and it's a sweet gesture to her, not against Chris.

This was dedicated to Lily on her birthday. 12 years earlier on the day she was born Pearl jam was performing at Roskilde in Denmark. Just before going on stage they were told that Chris had a daughter and they got rather emotional about it. Later during the concert when they were playing the song Daughter nine people died in the audience - the were crushed to death because the security was all f-d up. This hit them really hard and they even considered quitting the band. On that evening one life started, but other lives ended. This is a dedication to life and death and the turmoils of being alive. Eddie has always had the ability to see the deeper meaning to things and for this so many people love him . So there is a story to this. Please dont call something a "slap in the face" when you know nothing about the history, nor anything about their personal relationships. Regardless, he can dedicate his songs to whoever he likes. He wrote them (well, and Stone too in this case).
The lyrics of this song: Is Eddie calling out Chris for not being present in Lily’s life? Most likely because Vicky would not allow him to be a Father to Lily due to her extreme jealousy of that child
I've always stuck up for Vicky with all the hate trolling she gets but what they're doing to Lily now not giving her she fair share of mr. Cornell's estate is b******* I think he would want to be fair to his eldest child

He wasn't present in her life, like a Dad should be. & Did you know that since his death, Eddie has remained present in her life? & he & soundgarden , & chris' brothers are all in contact w/ her & Susan Silver, Chris' 1st wife, Lily's Mom...

Yes, Susan Silver who managed Soundgarden and Alice in Chains. I guess some people don't know about her because she doesn't make a spectacle of herself like Vicki. She was a hard worker behind the scenes, not a greedy, fame hungry, social climbing b@!#h like Vicki. Facts.
Chris Cornell's first wife is a beautiful and well respected woman. She was also the manager of "Soundgarden" and "Alice in Chains" Lily Jean Silver Cornell is a lovely young lady with a beautiful singing voice just like her daddy.

Words from Chris, he stated his ex made it impossible for him to have a relationship with his oldest daughter. He absolutely loved her, but hated her mother who was a big factor in his drug and alcohol use prior to Audioslave getting him into rehab.
I’m sure Eddie is lilys godfather love Chris to death but he was not allowed to even cuddle lily as the other daughter was told to get in there and get in between them😢
