Let's get this straight. The legislation that Our Governor put into law,allowed people who had x felony on their record (not in jail or on probation ) to vote. Minnesota law did not allow for ANY felony (,including felonies including 30 year old felonies),to vote. What he did made sense. Especially since people with child support felonies that were years old, being able to vote. You were able to pay taxes, but not vote??? I credit Gov Walz with a law that made total sense.

You hear the word felony and assume it’s a heinous unforgivable crime. But if you actually look at what he’s charged for and look at how it’s usually treated in court it’s really not that bad, barely above a misdemeanor in fact. Calling him a felon is technically correct but it really doesn’t carry any of the negative connotation with the word that you think it does.

Maybe. If he's incarcerated in New York for the 34 felonies, he'll lose his right to vote in Florida. Florida law defers to the state with the convicted felony. NY lets felons vote if they aren't incarcerated.

If I'm not mistaken, most states restore voting rights to most felons after completion of their sentences and any required restitution.
Depending on state, especially if those states are red, the usual MO for a felon to get those rights restored involves filing for them back. (And occasionally features a governor flip-flopping on reinstating them if they're Ron DeSantis for example).
All for restoration to "normal" after time is served, just amusing that the anti-felon bragadouchio comes from a very literal felon.

I'm all for felons who have served their time voting. Trump is a felon who has not served his time and has special privileges and voted. That's against the law in Florida, isn't it?
