    I’ve been struggling with offset backing at school. Yesterday I got it at least 3-4 times. My problem was I was turning my wheel to the left way too long to get that angle in with the box and then my drive tires were going out of the exercise. This video helped out a lot and gave me some good reference points to look out for the maneuver. Hopefully I get it down smoothly next week like you do. Thanks a lot !

    You make it look so simple!
    My instructor at CDL school left before he could teach us.
    We’ve been trying to figure it out ourselves.
    A lot of them have been backing the rear tires to the box, turning 1 &1/2 turns to the left, losing the back cone in the right small mirror, then stop when you lose it.
    Cut all the way right until you find it in your left large mirror, stop.
    Straighten up back in, then cut left, then cut right back until on top of the trailer & pull up to straighten up then back to the box.
    The 4th marker at the end, shoulder even will center the back bumper into the box.
    I’ll try the cut all the way left then right tomorrow.
    Going in to practice tomorrow because I feel cheated out for what I paid for with the instructor leaving.
    I test out Tuesday morning.
    I have to get it that day.
    I have all my endorsements & my hazmat is only good for 30 days.
    If not I’ll retest next week & redo hazmat.
    I have my in cab, pre-trip & road driving down.

      Holy smokes, I’m so sorry you’ve been trying to build your backing without any help!! 🥴 where are you attending? Did you apply to Prime? Are you at a school or training with a company?

      @@CDLYeah It was unexpected, apparently he left to start his own school. I attended TDI(Truck Driver Institute) in Pensacola.
      I am applying to Prime as soon as I get my CDL Class A.
      I’m looking to drive OTR, & possibly use my endorsements once I have gained some real experience.

    I recently got my CDL A, I have yet no experience. Does Prime hire recent CDL graduates, if so can you do a video or comment below the process. Located in Phoenix. Great video.

      Once you get to training next week confirm if they’re still on the old standard or the new standard… the new one has no parallel 😎

    Thank you!!! Clear and concise...in CT which test? Losing site of center cone when executing off set left/right...solution? CDL prep packet?

    • @CDLYeah
      @CDLYeah  2 месяца назад

      These are great questions! 🤓📚 Thanks so much for reaching out! CT should be on the new format by now, but I’d double check with your school/program. I wouldn’t worry about chasing cones on your offsets, when do you plan to test?

    I’m guessing this would also work with a 3 axle 28 ft tractor trailer? My instructor has me doing something wayyy harder than this. This is a much better explanation. (Backward offset)

    • @CDLYeah
      @CDLYeah  29 дней назад

      I’m glad the content is making sense 😁🙌🏼 The fundamental concepts will hold true, but a shorter trailer with a single axel on the trailer means it’ll run laterally much faster. Watch for smaller cuts and be ready to get back in front of it sooner. This video should help clarify it a little:

      Hi! Thanks for checking out my video. Every trucking company has different qualifications so definitely look around. To qualify for Prime Inc, you must be at least 21 years old with a valid US driver’s license for the past 12 months.
