Here's an old truck still in operation! I believe its a 1963 or 1964. This truck is owned by a small business in the Eugene, OR area. I was actually able to help out for a little while. You will see me at the end of the video dumping a few cans.
The crew was nice enough to let me follow them their whole route. Most of their stops were out in the rural country side, so some shots were taken from inside my truck.
This trucks is still in operation today.
Awesome to see this still going strong. Worked on one of these in the late 70’s . Model was Circa Mid 70’s. This and Leach Sanicruiser were leftovers from a brand new fleet of Leach 2R 25yd. Units that were Game changers at that time. Side Note: One Garwood LP-716 in fleet at this time, hated working on that, horrible and slow chain driven compacter. Unit was traded in for another Leach 2R. Fun City Summer Job 78-82 in Northeast Ohio.
Love these unique trucks brother. The can tipper is kind of troublesome I would believe especially for heavy cans, but the packer looks like it works really good. Cool cool truck. Good work and thanks for the video.
I think the tipper is custom made. So that's why its a little different. Thanks! It does work well for its age.
When I was a kid (circa 1961), the City of Cincinnati had two of these Collectomatics that I regularly saw on the Price Hill and Westwood routes (truck 4220 and 4221) that operated out of the old Crookshank Road incinerator/garages. There might have been other Collectomatics in different parts of the city.
Great video Kenny of a rare truck.I do remember back in the late 80s my area had one of those truck brand new,but for whatever reason it did not last they junked in probably less than 10 years.

Awesome to hear about a truck this old. Nice find and video! Nice to see you guys on video. Seems harder to dump the cans since the hopper is kinda high. I've always wanted to help some bulk guys in my neighborhood... Nice vid once again

Nice old packet body. Wish it was on an older truck. We have a small garbage company where I live that has a truck with a similar packet. Tho the one here doesn't have the cart tip per or the odd blade or whatever it us that comes up when it's going thru a packing cycle. The owner has it mounted on a 1974 diamond reo and has a winch to pick up the dumpsters.
This unit is a Colectomatic Formula 3000 from 1980's, the last model in production

They have a tipper, sometimes its quicker to dump the can manually.
I litter I wanted to see the smasher vs the chair and I love this truck

Nice video!! This truck is so cool. I love the tipper for both Dumpsters and carts. First time seeing a Dumpster tip on this truck - seems to work very well. That's awesome how you got to ride on the back! Those guys tackled the trailer parks nicely. Didn't Jared work for this company? Thought he drove a retriever for them but not 100% sure lol I see a couple of you guys helped out on the route haha was that you and Jared working the route around 8:40? I thought I remembered the old helper on this truck was an older guy in a couple of the other uploads from Mike and Jared and Bryn. Very fun video!
Ya, got variety of carts and dumpsters! Jared still woks for this company. He drives pretty much all of the trucks now. The old guy was on sick leave. So I was able to help out. Thats why I was able to be in the video. Yes, at the end that's me and Jared dumping can.
KennysTrucks All three of you did a fantastic job Kenny! Mike's a real good helper - fast, clean, and extremely neat. Is the driver of the truck another RUclipsr? Also, will we be seeing any footage of Jared in the future?
