The Countess is absolutely delightful and has a wonderful sense of humor. She and the Earl had me laughing out loud. They should do more of these videos.
I love the way they have overcome the limitations of the pandemic and embraced technology to continue welcoming people into their home. They are so charming!
I very much enjoy watching these tours. Particularly the Earl and Countesses tours remind me of my grandparents together. They’ve been married for 75 years this year (2020), and there’s definitely similar loving moments they share. It’s better than anything Hollywood could recreate for certain.
Oh please do the "downstairs" of the house. Along with your family history the nooks and crannies that visitors were not meant to see are always the most fascinating. They are the heart of the house. Thank you again for the generosity of your time and inviting us in to your private home. You are the best hosts and the whispering off camera was endearing. May the love for your family history prevail for further generations.
I really enjoyed the manhole story. It's not all glamour in an historic home! The loss of the pictures in the fire is heartbreaking. This has been a wonderful video! Thank you for sharing your home and stories with us! Love from Vermont
The most amazing couple with su much knowledge. Just adorable, I can sense their love and devotion to maintaining the history of this beautiful home. ❤️❤️❤️
What a joy to watch and listen to them both. I would love to have a kitchen tour with them. Great watch. So funny them correcting each other. I was really getting into the sewerage story and she was stopped in her tracks.
I love the story about the Concord - wonderful. (Ha Ha) I originally thought, "not another story of a ghost haunting a home", but no. Again, thanks, so much for the honesty - it was delightful!
Lovely couple, lovely show!!! Bless you, for continually improving the estate, it's truely a show piece. I can't wait to see the gardens. Take care! Laura
What a lovely example of a cohesive couple whose minds work together. Cant express it how I want, but they just seem like two jigsaw pieces that fit together.
Thanks for watching. We're working hard to bring you more tours like this. Please consider subscribing to the channel, if you haven't done so already. 😊
Hard to tell about the pink bloom (with the begonia) from the footage, but it looks like Medinilla magnifica, a very lovely tropical plant that flowers for a very long time, one of my favorites actually! This was a wonderful tour, and what’s most striking to me is how very cosy, bright and tasteful you’ve made it! So many if the historic English houses are quite dark and dreary or very formally arranged, whereas everything about this house feels lived in, welcoming and like a beautiful home, nothing overbearing or stuffy about it. The perfect balance of the eccectic effect of layers of history in architecture, furnishings and art collected over the centuries, melded with colorschemes that brings a calm and cheerful energy and welcomed the natural light into the rooms. Wonderful to see your interest in art and conservation of it, my heart just sank when you shared the story of that awful loss to the fire. Besides the house and collection you are a wonderful couple, I could watch you tell your adventures and hard work, the history and all for hours. Champion, bravo! 👏👏👏🙏❤️
Such a lovely couple. I''m marvelled by your recollection of centuries old history and family legacy. I pray you may continue to work so diligently to preserve and ensure your estate for future generations. Blessings .
What a wonderful tour! Earl Sandwich, I am a RN & so sorry you are SOB (short of breath). I am quite worried about you! A Votre Santé from LA, California
I absolutely love watching the Earl and Countess, they are so interesting and really do wonderful tours/videos. I love the Countess's humour, when she said "I was always looking for shabby chic but this was straight shabby" lol..she really has a great sense of humour :) Adore her ! You can really tell you all love Mapperton and truly care about it. Thank you for taking the time to make videos for us to enjoy :)
An absolutely delightful couple. I could spend hours and hours listening to all they know about the house, its contents and the people who lived there.
As an American, I want to say thank you! And thank you to my fellow American, Julie. I feel that you helped make this possible. To introduce us to this world, understanding how wonderful this world is.
The lab must have found the tapestry really yummy! Admire families who take on keeping up these historic places. We Americans love the history of centuries old houses, and their stories, but do realize the upkeep is a labor of love and lots of work. The Earl and Countess are very amusing story tellers.
Thankyou for this lovely tour, so sorry about your treasured paintings being destroyed. I liked the library and main entrance most. Big hello from Italy.
I just love this house and it’s history. I’m extremely impressed with the knowledge you have about the house and garden. We live in New Zealand, came here 34 years ago from Germany, and I never imagined back then how I would miss the history, beautiful old houses, gardens, towns and villages. I’m hooked on your canal, thank you 🙏 for giving us this insight into your home and the difficult task to keeping it running. Looking forward to a lot more!
Thank you very much for such a delightful tour. I first learned of Mapperton House through the 2015 film version of Far From The Madding Crowd, and I am so pleased to experience it through the eyes of its loving family.
A wonderful tour by two very lovely and knowledgeable people! Thank you John and Caroline and Luke for your camera work. I love your library ❣️ I could spend hours in there!
I am really enjoying the tours and discussions about the house and learning about its history along the way. So many humorous moments too. My favourite was when the Countess said “it was just shabby really!” Thank you for being so authentic and heartfelt x
Watched on catch-up and enjoyed it immensely as usual. The Earl and Countess did a grand job of course, although we missed Julie! It’s great to hear all the stories from the house and family’s past and present and I like the idea of a show based on ‘Mapperton Moments’, as someone suggested in the live feed. I’d also like to hear more about Martha Ray! I like the way director/cameraman Luke kept the show on track from behind the scenes 😁 Very enjoyable!
It's family like yours what summon a sense of protection over us all for these beautiful collections of stone, history and family. Keep up the absolutely grand work. Stay safe x
I finally feel better, or at least misery loves company! Back in 1996 I left my new dog home alone for the first time after two weeks (except for a canine companion) while I went to a movie. She had been perfectly behaved during that first fortnight, so I ventured out. Came home to find all fine except that one border of my silk-on-silk Hereke carpet, that had been peacefully lying on the floor for twelve years, was chewed off. I've never really recovered!!! And Tess the dog proved to be a constant handful, though she was part of my home for 15 years. Dug up gardens, jumped real fences, 'broke' invisible fences, bathed in deer dung...always inventive!
The Countess is absolutely delightful and has a wonderful sense of humor. She and the Earl had me laughing out loud. They should do more of these videos.
Thank you for your kind words. We're working hard to bring you plenty more tours with the Earl and Countess 😊
Yes, Yes! They are both wonderful! Loved seeing them!
The Earl and Countess are absolutely adorable!
This is THE most adorable and engaging couple.....I could watch them for days!
Dear countess, it is no rambling at all! You and your husband are a delight to listen too. Thank you for all the history
I love the way they have overcome the limitations of the pandemic and embraced technology to continue welcoming people into their home. They are so charming!
Countess thank you for pronouncing Illinois correctly. Countess I could listen to your stories forever
I think the earl and countess should do more of these..i think we all agree yes?
I very much enjoy watching these tours. Particularly the Earl and Countesses tours remind me of my grandparents together. They’ve been married for 75 years this year (2020), and there’s definitely similar loving moments they share. It’s better than anything Hollywood could recreate for certain.
Your parents are so fun to listen to
The best part of Mapperton are The Earl and Countess ❤️ I hope they do more episodes.
I love the "loose presentation" sans formality and I am now a big fan of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich :-)

I love how the Earl likes to keep things on schedule. The Earl and Countess are such fun.
A similar dynamic plays out between the Viscount and Viscountess.... except Julie is always trying to moved things along whenever Luke gets chatty.
Would love to see how the servants lived and their quarters. Always interesting to see.
Absolutely charming and wonderful. Very interesting.
Thank you! Cheers!

A very nice couple. I like the unpretentious way they walk through their home and the challenges that come with it.
I love the story about the Concord - wonderful. (Ha Ha) I originally thought, "not another story of a ghost haunting a home", but no. Again, thanks, so much for the honesty - it was delightful!
Glad you enjoyed it!

You two are absolutely precious!
Such a lovely segment. They’re charismatic!! Barely 2 minutes in and I love them.
It is ALWAYS a wonderful time when you're giving us the virtual tour. Thank you!
This might’ve been the best tour yet! I liked the complete look around, and seeing how all the rooms connected together.
A lovely couple and a beautiful love for the home and for each other.
Love these two! What a great example they are of commitment, I love that the Earl says “we won’t always agree”. They are so cute together!

I really enjoy your tours and the history. As an American English teacher, I enjoy hearing all the stories.
It would be a huge project but worthy one to digitise the library..

Such a Charming Tour~ Thank you~ You both are lovely together..so kind to one another and the f"un and odd bits" were fascinating!
Indeed! People are always more fascinated with kitchens, cellars & especially attics! Attics tend to be the most beautiful aspects of older homes.
Love to you, your family, your kitties, and wonderful home, from Charlottesville, Virginia.
I love her fashion style. She looks so cool. 82-years old :-)
