Nightmare Freddy Krueger (a gimmick of the main character, Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street movie series) was the late Tommy Gilbert and became a crowd favorite in the Memphis territory in 1989.
Well, its nice that CWA finally came into the 80s and re-vamped the TV studio set as modern as you could get a TV studio set. The only thing I'm scratching my head about is why did they go retro with the opening theme music. Early 70s lounge jazz interspersed with the 2001 theme? In 1989? Seriously, Jerry Jarrett--as the third largest promotion in the country at the time you could do better than that!
I had a name for wrestlers like that. I called them "scrubs". Like the benchwarmers who never get onto the football field. At various times, I also called them "punching bags" or "wrestling dummies". Their names were Keith Eric, Alan Reynolds, Rough and Ready. They were also the names Rick Roode, Arn Anderson, Perry "Action:" Jackson, and Shawn Michaels--before they were finally "allowed" to start winning matches.
How about Jackson's sister coming out of the audience and attacking Sylvia. Gotta love Memphis wrestling. Robert Fuller in fine form as usual, big fan of his.
If Keith Erich wrestled Lance Russel,he would still lose!😂😂😂😂
First time I've seen Mark Starr and his brother Chris Champion together as a tag team.
Rob will go down as one of the best talkers on the mic in the business
I sure miss those days

3rd? lol what. it was wwf, nwa, and probably world class or awa as the 3rd. cwa was a distant 4 at this point
Looking at Keith Erich wrestle is like looking at someone with a bad case of the flu!
Keith Erich is the epitome for losing all the time!

Billy Joe Travis acts like he's high as a kite.
Only in Memphis would Freddy be a babyface
They sure went after Lawler's family jewels a lot.
