Brilliant build quality, mechanical engineering speaks it's own language. thank you for the HQ video, well done. I first road the XT 500 in Colorado Springs Co. in 1975-76, My good friends father was a WWII airplane mechanic and he loved the Japanese bikes greatly. He would strip down his XT and put a total loss ignition, Port/polish and balance all internals, producing I believe around 45-50 hp, custom red line frame from the Red Line manufacture, Bilstien or Koni shocks (forward mounted) and I believe a Maico front end. Simply Brilliant, and very effective. Wheels were from a Bultoco, Akront rims, not sure of size but bigger than stock The XT lost approximately 40-55 Lbs. What a bike! Oh, the exhaust came out custom, with one of the first or 2nd gen. Super Trapp muf's What a sound! He did the same to his son's Honda XR 75 punched to a 110cc WOW !! Loved it....!! Those were some great years, the 70's, when the tech evolution was in hyper sonic super drive, really.
I had a '78 XT500 from '83 to '84 and rode all over the desert when I was stationed at Edwards AFB in the Mojave desert. I still remember pulling the compression release and rolling the kick start to get the silver cam indicator in the window of the head so it would be easier to start. Sold it when I bought an '84 Honda XL600R. You don't realize how bad the suspension sucked on the XT until you moved to something newer. The XL glided over stuff that would have the XT bucking like a bull at the rodeo.
That's my XT500 engine, nice to see it on video. Heinz did the complete rebuild. With the engine he did a 25 kilometer test drive to check. I'am restoring a 1978 XT500 to new. Next year is my XT brand new restorded. The rebuild eingine is now standing in the livingroom waiting to be installed. Thanks Heinz for the great engine job. Looking forward for the part 2 video. If you wan't a complete overhaul for your engine, or more cc's, this is the man for the job. Regards from the Netherlands, Leo Noordzij
A true Craftsman a work of art when I was a kid first starting off riding bikes in the early 83-84 always heard of the tt500-sxt500 was the baddest bike in the world, racing or woods! back in Kentucky we use to Hill Climb like crazy me on my yz80 surrounded by 250 400 500cc. I just wished I could go back to those days I on lake Cumberland oil Center Somerset Kentucky
A lot of work put into this motorcycle restaurant. Two - stroke engine similar in design to Polish "WSK" and „SHL”. The main difference is the intake/suction control via a rotating disc! This system is new to me:). It must be made very precisely to be tight and not rub against the body. These are two opposites to a technical solution. In my invention I proposed controlling the exhaust/outlet with four valves and the intake with through channels. Lubrication of the composite gel system: pressure - flow. It is worth watching how the Sir performs the reconstruction of this four - stroke engine. In my invention, I combined the operation of a two - stroke and four - stroke engine. I received the positive opinion of the Scientists. The first part of the post concerns the clip: „1999 Kawasaki HD3 Scrambler Full Build Timelapse”. See on my website: www.mojewynalazki.pev.pl and RUclips. There is also data, among others, on the new type high efficiency of synchronous motor and generator. Greetings :). Xt 500.... fantastic machine.... i see myself building an engine when i watch this vid..... the only thing difrent..... i use the whole time no gloves.... you are a wonderfull enginebuilder
Saubere Arbeit! Lg Jan, 18, Bayern
Yeah I had a xt 500 that motha could really kick back. 650-700cc that will send my knee up Thru my chin. Ha ha! Beautiful work Heinz, love the attention to detail!
I have a 1980 TT500 that I want rebuilt but don't know where to send it and after watching this guy I want him to do it 😆. If you don't mind me asking what did it cost you with shipping assuming you live in the US.
What is that 1050 sealant stuff you are using @ 3.44 in the video? Is there anything you would recommend for me, I am in the USA. Any permatex product or Hondabond perhaps? Also how did you make that Flywheel to crankcase tool?
Where is the "XT 500 motorbau video 2" ? I couldn't find it. This was an excellent video though, coming from someone who has little, to no clue about these things. Highly interesting regardless.
Erstklassiges Video. Ohne Gequassel, in der richtigen Geschwindigkeit, äußerst anschaulich gemacht. Danke!!

I have a 1998 xt600e.It's new! Such a feeling that it was restored somewhere in your area.
Love watching experts at work!
I think if Yamaha made this bike today (TT500) with minimal changes and priced it right they would sell many bikes.
Perfect Working.
If we could get a service from a complete mechanic's like this, then we are lucky to ride a perfect bike..
