- You know you want to do it. You know you want to send me a review code early to cover this on a Vita. Realistically I'd still buy it for Switch anyway, but You know You want to.
The resolution is lower, this is true. However, this channel has, for years, generally been "background noise" as I ramble endlessly about oddly specific mechanics I find neat. It's far easier to find these mechanics while out and about.
Also, a few other random notes. Yes, a regular Switch may work, but it's a tad too clunky to keep in my vest. It fits, but I don't like the balance being off, or the weight of it swinging around. I tried to bring my son's Lite with me, and it was OK size and durability wise with a clam case, but there is no way to Stream on it, or do convenient recordings without risky surgeries to the device, or a screen modification that doesn't exist yet...or the weird Pi thing that I won't be doing. Already altered ones are out of my budget, and way too risky to carry with me all the time. The Steam Deck may have options, but I do not want to engage with those options for reasons that should be obvious. I wish it had a PC port. The Portal is a worse Vita in my eyes (I don't even want a PS5, it may be pretty, but it feels like a waste, if that makes sense. Even if I got one for free, I would probably just sell it.). I used to carry around a normal Switch with the parts in different pockets. Turned out to be a perfect way to get the rails to glitch out all the time. I'm still cleaning out those things every time my daughter gets mad at it. Also, yes, everyone in the house has a cheap Switch, and I'm here on my $30 "guy couldn't figure out to hold down the power button and figured it was dead on eBay" Vita.
This might finally be my excuse to cover everything on my beloved Vita again.

In case anyone wants to give this thing a shot on Twitter. It will be hilarious if this works. x.com/CoffeePotatoRB/status/1765079727440801794?s=20
That would be interesting if you got one. I've been posting about getting one for Switch coverage, but nothing back yet lol.
its not a review code but wanted to say thanks!
keep up the great Ogre/SRPG content :)
Will do, and thank you!
Can’t believe this on the Series X. Can’t wait to play it. jRPGs are rare on Xbox. Thanks Vanillaware!
"Hello Atlus, I am the only person in the world who will be playing this game using this specific configuration of older hardware. It would be a great idea to market the game through me." 🤣
Real talk though, it's honestly super cool that you can play it on your Vita. I was HOPING you'd be getting the hook up from Atlus, more than any other creator, because you're so god damn passionate - not just about the game itself, but the specific ways you enjoy and experience this game and other games. Sometimes what you cover and how you cover it has me going "hell yeah, someone who actually sees this from a similar angle to my own" and sometimes it's like "lmao CoffeePotato is ridiculous, I can't believe he's going off about this but it's so fun to listen to him get so hype".
Anyway, thanks for the videos and sorry you're stuck waiting for this incredible game like the rest of us.
Hey, it was worth a shot. They've been one of the few company combos that actually cared about the Vita, and Vita love is not something you forget 💪
The Switch release will support cloud saves according to the eshop page. I checked that after my demo save wouldn't backup.
Still neat to have it by default. One day Nintendo will abandon Switch online. As much as Sony has made plenty of mistakes, I still have PSP and PS1 games around from almost two decades ago online. I generally trust their services more.
@@CoffeePotatoor this is the account they plan to keep forever and why they started charging like the other 2 did 20 years ago.
Well if anyone's hopin' for a PC release of this game. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say; probably... for the most tinfoil hat reason: I bought myself a Switch OLED for this game. If my life has taught me anything when I jump on getting something the universe decides to make it so that the thing I rushed out to get will be either made available cheaper, or on the system I wanted, such is my life. and I will 10000% come back to this video for posterity when it happens.
Fair. I know I'm still low balling Switch lites and I guess going to send the saves back and forth between the home switch and the scuffed jank I end up finding for an everyday pocket buddy. I hate their design, but it's hard to say no to a thing that's close enough, with this, Tactics Ogre, and XCOM2 on there.
3:47 The PS Vita and nothing sticking out? I guess you ripped off the two analogue sticks then, lol. Mine has those sticking out, making it awkward to have in a pocket.
Mad lad. Atlus should def give you review code
If they do, they do, I'll give em free advertising regardless 😆
rooting for you, buddy! get that bag!
Honestly I'm getting it on Switch anyway, but I'd love an excuse to cover it like this just because it's fun 😆
Im playing FFT mod Cerabow this morning and one of the characters was named after you, thought I’d chime in and tell you lol
I saw, hopefully it was a spear squire again, I love that mod!
Tactics Ogre and Culver's is an S-tier combination
Gotta strategize while you cheese curd-erize!
I wish there was some way to name the save files so you can remember what run it is. Really helps you stay organized.
The emblems help a lot with that. Like white with lightning bolts and centaurs was Bow Only
@@CoffeePotato oh that’s the solution.
Hope you get a review code to work with Coffee. Small reviewers and recommenders on steam at least usually get codes for games quite easily, so it would be a shame if you cant get one.
Given how few channels cover Ogre Battle, I was kind of hoping they'd have reached out a few weeks ago. I'm hoping I didn't say something dumb and get black listed or something 😆 (Vanillaware being hardcore TOR Shaman fans would explain some things)
Oof, just saw there was no PC release, guess I'm gonna have to dust off my PS4... let's hope it still works, lol.
Yeah ...man I want to play this on the Deck. Just finally got in this groove of "I have my perfect device, nothing will ever make me pick up anoth-....fuck."
Let's hope it's successful and SEGA yolos a PC release in a few years. Alternatively ryujinx gets spared Nintendo's lawyers.
@@ahmedrazick4946 BOY DO I HAVE SOME NEWS FOR YOU
This game makes me wish that Dragon's Crown got ported to the Switch since I played that to death on my vita. Heck the only 2 games I played on my vita are Dragon's Crown and TO.
They really aught to port some of their games to anything
I guess it's 10 save per profile on Switch. You can easily make new profiles and have 10 extra save on each no? It's not the most elegant solution but it's still an easy solution.
True, but I'd rather not have a ton of different profiles when the family online plan has a limit, and we're already up to 4.
@@CoffeePotato but you don't need online accounts right? I've done that only once so I'm unsure what the limit is but you can make offline accounts with email address or anything and have their own saves. Unless I'm missing some limitation I'm unaware of
Lol Culver's is my favorite place to eat 😋 ik that's off topic sort of but I seriously still use my psvita but I never thought of using it like that 😮I do have a switch but if I didn't that's a great idea 😮
I was shocked that it worked. When it did, I got really into dusting off the PS4 library again. Funnily enough XCOM 2 then rolled the Tactics Ogre trio for the intro, and Denam got blasted off a bridge. Anyhow that worked at the kids' school pickup line today, and that's pretty neato.
I would love if they made a vita port. Although literally the most unlikely
Until then, we have the Lite.
@@CoffeePotato i love the form factor of my Lite. but the screen is just so much worse than my OLED
I think you will goner cover for quite some time since there is alot of things in this game
I getting the switch since i dont have ps4 or 5
99 save files, but a Switch ain't one?
Yeah, but cloud seems ok so far.
Uhm @CoffePotato... I love Vita but....I mean...on Switch the font size is REALLY tiny, mostly the skills descriptions.....what about Vita 😳 I imagine is ridiculously tiny...or not?
It is, but years of playing on the thing gives you hand held eagle vision 😆. Realistically, they're never going to take me up on this offer, but it was worth a shot. I already have a little pocket fund set aside for this on Switch.
@@CoffeePotato so did you decide where to play it?
To be honest I want to wait a bit, hoping in an steam announcement to play it on Steam Deck, I don't want to risk my eyesight 😬 yea there is a zoom feature on Switch ( but not on Vita so it's worse lol ) but I don't like to Double click EVERY Time i have to read to not force my eyesight 🤦🏻♂️
I hope the Devs gives you a chance!!
Not Atlus but Vanillaware, plus they are a small studio with 39 people in it.
You can just make a new profile and get more save files
Yeah, but that's not the same as just seeing them all there at once. It feels nice.
Game would be perfect with PC controls. Alas.
Alas.
A fusion of Ogre Battle and Fire Emblem would warrant a double dip. God I need a ROG Ally with an OLED and a next gen APU.
Pc in tears 😂
The vita durable? No way dude, putting that thing in your pocket will destroy the sticks pretty quick and give you drift. They are already pretty flimsy out of the box. Not too mention the exposed screen and super easy to scratch casing on the oled model. I would absolutely not carry it without a case...
Use a case for it 5head. What kind of stupid you have to be to shove it in your pocket.
I have carried a Vita in my vest pocket for 6 years straight now. I have never broken a single screen, and the only drift was from when one of the ones I was working on came with it. I am almost always moving around and hitting things, and will regularly throw it in my vest while running towards something.
The trick is the cases and angles. If you use a soft case and jeans pocket, that will mess with any device. I use a Silicone thin case with no covers for the front plate beyond the outer rim. Before this was more common, I used an old rubber case with the buttons cut out. With the edges having a lip to them, this prevents damage without the issue of debris buildup between the case sections. The screens are very durable, I have seen one take an entire damn dresser straight to the screen...and it still worked despite physically missing glass. I still keep that screen as a trophy.
You avoid scratches by not putting it in with other things. That pocket is my Vita pocket. The other is my phone pocket. They perfectly balance each other. The other 6 pockets can be for other things. Again, over half a decade and I've never seen a serious scratch on any of my Vitas (I fix them as a hobby). Angle the screen inwards. The sticks and case lip protect the screen from pressure, and the outer shell is very protective. Sticks are extremely cheap and easy to fix if anything does go wrong down the line.
a switch lite with the flip cover is a game changer. throw it right in your pocket super protected.
Agreed. If only recording it wasn't a pain.
yea i cant speak on that lol. its really weird how they didnt release and OLED lite with docking capabilities. all everyone wants.@@CoffeePotato
just as a note, the switch can let you have more profiles to have more saves
True, but that's a pain.
Yes but the PS5 have a massive of amount of saves. I have up to 19 and it keeps going.
Those profile rename handy to help organize thing than... 99 saves which pain to browse thru
Do u mean 11 saves? U clearly have 10 not counting the autosave lol
Eh, numbers are hard. 99 number big
better tell me the differences between different emulators performance . Don't want to wait 2 years for inevitable PC port.
Has Vanillaware ever done a pc port?
Vanillaware has no PC infrastructure, apparently, and has never made a PC port. No clue how that works either.
@@amyyost7022 i dont think they ever made à pc port, muramasa, odin sphère, dragons crown, grim grimoire, princesse crown all console exclusives even the remasters, i hope i am wrong and they port it to PC
Most likely what would happen in the case of a PC port is that Atlus hires a 3rd party to port it. Japanese devs, especially small ones, don’t see it as a high priority as a platform.
But for Atlas to do so, the game would need to sell because of the whole… profit angle (board members don’t exactly pay attention to reviews or cult classics afterall)… which is a problem.
Would love a PC release
Same, I want to live on my Deck, dang it.
I'm playing it on PS5 + Portal.
Fair enough, have you tried this phone hotspot dealie?
@@CoffeePotato My phone's data plan is very slow so it's not the smoothest (but still very playable). If you have 5G speeds then it'd be great.
TBH anything on the switch is a challenge, Kinda wish they would release the game on PC also but I have it purchased for PS5 atm
Yeah one of the reasons I bought the PS5.
Get a Ps5 potato!
Hah haaah...no. The PS4 remote plays this comfortably off my phone hotspot already, why would I get a gaming fridge?
