I got a 97 Les Paul studio, ebony with gold trim- ebony fretboard, that I've modified a lot. 496/500 pups, CTS pots, 50's wiring, Tonespro locking bridge, alum tailpiece, Tusc XL nut, Kluson locking tuners, Schaller straplocks. Everything replaced that would be considered mechanical. Now for looks new beige plastic parts, black speed knobs with gold centers. All in a chainsaw case. I'm using Daddario EXL140 which is a .52 "E" and the rest a .10 set. No weight relief with this 1, it's heavy to where I got a 3.5 in padded strap for my shoulder. Really awesome looking and playing guitar. But in reality I'm a Strat player and my main guitar is a 93 Amer deluxe plus Strat I bought used in 96. Only problem is the color; butt ugly yellow. If color is the worst problem in a 26 yr owned guitar then I will live with it. The color is really called vintage white but nothing white about it. When I'm not playing these guitars I leave them out to see cause they're art to me. Along side my wood and wicker Boogie. Now if I could play to the potential of this equipment....
I swear I've seen you around town here, maybe at Tradup Music? Those faded models look so cool when they are buffed, hopefully the lacquer hardens eventually, but they seem to be adding plasticizers. I almost bought one of those Epiphone '59 Standards, but resisted - I'm more into LP Specials, the maple cap seems to make the sound harder, mahogany is smoother and warmer sounding to my ears. I'm a bit like you, love buying guitars and modding them up, usually Epiphones. I'm undecided about the chambered vs solid tone, but since I use solid Specials it's a moot point, yet I'm still curious. I think they are both good, just different, chambered maybe rounder, smoother, and warmer? Same thing with telecasters: I've got a solid Slick Sl'51, $250 and great sounding pickups. The other is a 2011 telecaster thinline Squire CV, mahogany body, which sounds rounder, warmer, and smoother. It's difficult putting it into words, but both are good sounds, just different, and viva la difference - variety is the spice of life!
Similar experience--was in the Les Paul market last year and tried a bunch of standards, but a 2006 Studio turned out to be the best sounding and playing one.
I found one of those at my local music store and like you not a fan of Les Pauls so i walked by it and thought nothing of it. Next day i had to go back for some parts I had ordered that came in. Saw that LP again and for some reason picked it up and ya it was killer really surprised me. Got home couldnt get it out of my head. Went back next day to buy it and it was gone haven't seen another one since.
Yeah I had 2014 sg special that was pretty much a faded. It was the best sg I’ve ever played. There is a video about it on this channel. I wish I still had it, but traded it for a Marshall head that I really wanted. I wouldn’t buy one without getting my hands on it first.
My son and I get to try a lot of Les Paul's at our favorite used shop and I kid you not maybe out of 20 Les Paul's that we've tried Maybe 2 of them had that "Les Paul" feel and sound, my son and I ended up getting a 1979 Greco Standard and a late 80's Greco SG Standard for probably less than the price of a Gibson Standard. Those Greco's are Gibson killer's
To be fair, they are a little over priced... I'm lucky enough to say I own a few. They really are great guitars. It's so cool how you made this one your own. It's an amazing guitar and you're a great player. Hope you're still enjoying it mate! Cheers
really nice guitar and a great review! i also personify nearly all of my guitars a bit at least. these lower prized gibsons are mostly great guitars, i own a ´21 Tribute which is just awesome and a ´19 Classic. 2 weeks ago i got a SG Special P90 in Sparkling Burgundy and i can´t get my hands off it! ;) and dude! i really enjoyed your video, keep on doing more of them 🤟✌
She’s a beaut man! She’s a Gibson Les Paul but with a price tag that empowers you to make her your own. It’s a players guitar and those are the best kind!!!
IMO these are cooler than "real" LPs. 100% was expecting an extreme neck mod to fix the headstock angle. You did very little compared to a lot of other people to fix the tuning issues. But yeah your wrecked the resale value, all collectors want is original spec, and that neck finish is going to be a major issue in that way. Shouldn't matter to you though because it sounds like a keeper for you.
All they need to stay in tune is a well cut nut and good tuners. I have people come into my shop with Gibsons that won’t stay in tune all the time. Most of the time I cut a graph tech nut and do a good setup and never see them again. And yeah this one isn’t going anywhere
I always liked the faded series Gibsons. I have one of the SGs. Yours looks sick with the polished top and headstock veneer. Glad I stumbled onto this channel somehow. I used to watch your old one.
Very cool I have a similar experience with les Pauls myself yes they are pretty sweet I came around but at first I was like yeah not me but yeah it's totally me now.😂I've done the pull off the paint with tape bit too,... that oh,.... that just kills doesn't it...Yeah I also prefer the Dunlop strap locks compared to the Shaler.....That is a very sweet guitar man.🥰
Very nice custom LP my man. My 2004 Les Paul Supreme is not only my favorite guitar, but the best i've personally played. It looks sublime, and has such a classic versatile tone. Lots of solid guitars. None i'd trade my Supreme for!
If it stays in tune, it's already better than any other Les Paul lmao
Hey man, finally received that Jackson today! Wow man, what a great piece!!!!!
Just bought a Les Paul Studio 2011 from a friend 2 weeks ago and it's amazing...

The Gibson The Paul is a guitar worth trying out.
Dude - that guitar is a SEXY BEAST !!
Sweet Guitar bro !
They should follow your lead and make them like your changes
Have you tried the SG Faded? I'm considering getting one or maybe an SGJ, never owned a Gibson but been wanting one for some Black Sabbath doom stuff

Greco and Burny guitars make really accurate and sometimes superior replicas

String butlers are amazing
I’ve got a 2018 Les Paul Studio and I love it. The body thickness and weight relief make it the perfect gigging #1
I have a 93 Les Paul Studip Lite. Totally original. Ebony fretboard. A great guitar. I have 4 LP’s and it’s my go to.
that's probably one of the best les pauls I have ever seen, nice guitar.

Those are sweet Les Paul, unless you have to rewire one 😂
Indeed😏
