    This Mr Clive is to be congratulated. Firstly, for the new car, secondly for sharing it, and thirdly for choosing a good colour. So many Turbos are black or silver which is just a bit dull (edit: and I see Damian agrees).

    Porsche knows how to do it. I must admit, for every new series and redesign that comes out I shake my head and wave my fist saying "How dare you!" and accusing them of blasphemy. Then, as time goes by and I experience one for myself I admit my shortcomings and accept that Porsche was right.

    For me the appeal is the effortless capability. Seemingly endless power and grip give me a pleasing feel. Like a special kind of luxury that comes from a robust and well engineered automobile. The lack of drama yet still wired to my every whim, is very good, to me.

    What a car - when I was a boy anything that could do 0-60 in under 5 seconds was deemed supercar fast. These days it has to be sub-3 seconds. Even the McLaren F1 at 3.2 seconds was deemed other-worldly. Top man Clive for lending the 992 for this video.

    MG METRO. I had one , it was my first car and I loved it. Cost £300 , had 13” pepper pot alloys , the red seat belts and was a bag of Crap. Brakes didn’t work and locked up if you breathed on them , had a broken engine mount which made atrocious noises come from under the bonnet when changing down gears and it was flat out at 98mph and cost £17 to fill with petrol.

    What a fantastic review of an iconic supercar! Hit on all the key points that makes this car so special. Understated precision and perfection, or as near perfection as any manufacturer can ever produce, for every element on this car!!! And to top it off, bullet proof reliability!!!
    Glad Porsche didn't go with the tablet stuck in the middle of the dash look that seems to be popular with many manufacturers. Glad you pointed it out and this is the correct way of integrating the HMI into the dash. The entire dash flows seamlessly!!!
    One thing that I miss and wish Porsche would bring back - the door latch mechanism from the air cooled 911s!! Anyone who has opened/closed the door on an aircooled 911 knows that distictive sound which is very very unique and very solid.

    Fabulous review. This video pointed out why I am not a fan of the modern 911's. Too much software, too many screens, tires are too big, and an automatic gearbox. I definitely prefer the simpler older 911's...5 speed transmission, flat six engine and a simple key. Don't need all that extra nonsense layered on. • @yukiotakata

    I just find funny how specially in the last 2 generations of the Turbo it is basically turning more and more of what Porsche enthusiasts and even some people at Porsche criticized the GTR when it came out a decade ago and blew the turbo socks out,saving the difference in quality and heritage off course.
    Turbos today are insanely fast cars that can make ANY average joe with money a really fast driver thanks to the technology and nothing else.
    Nothing wrong with that though,but had i have the means to own a 911 it would HAVE to be a manual which means that if was turbo it would be a 997 model or below..

    You sum this car up so well. Having driven one, it was great in so many ways, but I felt no love for it at all. Yes, you can drive anywhere and in any weather and not think twice about it. And that's it! A whoosh and a blast, but no passion. Yet, just starting up my 458 Spider or 355 Spider, there's that immediate, wow....Oh my word, the tingle down the spine, the expectancy and the urge to get going. But you can't help but admire the Turbo S for its completeness. However, as I've said before, your GT3 Touring video has me wanting one....I need and Porsche and it has to be that one.....the hunt begins!!

    Thank you for a wonderfully informative and entertaining video, and sincere thanks to Clive for entrusting his new steed to you for the road test - he is truly a car guy and a friend. Clive optioned the car beautifully with several exclusive and important options. Your comments about suspension stiffness caused me to wonder if Clive included the lower/stiffer "Sport-PASM" on his car. It reflects Porsche's taking the Turbo S closer to the GT cars, and among other options enables a buyer to a more track-focused version.
    I am coming out of a 991.2 GT3, which was a daily driver on SoCal's billiard-table-smooth roads and have a new 992 Turbo S on a ship that will dock in Baltimore, MD within the hour. We now live in historic Old Town Alexandria, VA, where George Washington, Benjamin Franklin met and dined in a tavern that is still open. There are even two cobblestone streets among late 18th-century homes, so I did not opt for Sport-PASM. I loved the GT3, but the Turbo S will be much more usable and besides, I, too, had a 2010 911 Turbo, which was wonderful and five years later, a 991.1 Turbo S, similarly great. If convenient to follow-up with Clive, I and perhaps other subscribers would be interested if Clive's Turbo S has Sport-PASM.
    I wish you all the best as you continue to bring us these wonderful automotive videos. Cheers.

    • @AtlasCroc
      @AtlasCroc 3 года назад

      Looking at the side profile of the car - it does not look to have the -10 SPASM suspension. I also have not ordered it on mine coming in January. Since you probably have your car by now - what is you opinion on the non-SPASM suspension?
      Thanks.

    • @At_The_Glen
      @At_The_Glen 3 года назад

      @@AtlasCroc Thank you for your reply. I am very pleased with the ride of our new Turbo S, and am confident that I made the correct decision staying with standard vs. sport PASM. That was an excellent observation regarding the side view of the car. I believe the view at 12:46 is perhaps the most representative. In the shot at 00:23, it appears that the front axle lift might be engaged. I went to the garage to look at my car and noticed that even with FAL engaged, there is significantly more space between the tire and the fender well than is showing in this view. At 12:51, the spaces between the top of the tires and the wheel wells look similar to mine. It might be the angle, but at 13:12, the car looks lower than mine, but the angle could be a factor. In some photos, my personally feeling is that Sport-PASM makes the car look "lowered' in a custom-car manner that is not necessarily flattering to the design.
      There have been threads on Sport-PASM on the Rennlist Porsche forum. Here is one example: rennlist.com/forums/992-turbo-and-turbo-s/1255183-s-pasm-post-your-photos-2.html. The owners who have it never say they regret it, even though several have stated that they have reduced tire pressures. (Personally, I wouldn't want to change the Porsche-engineer-recommended pressures.) Also, I've never seen a comment from someone who has standard PASM who regrets not having S-PASM.
      There were several inputs to my deciding not to order S-PASM. Road tests (video and written) talked about a bouncy, somewhat harsh ride with S-PASM. The sales manager at my Virginia dealership recommended against it, in part, because I live in a city that was founded in 1749, and although I avoid the two remaining cobblestone streets, some of the roads have been patched quite a bit over time as in most American cities. Another trusted source was the person in California who sold me three 911s before I moved to VA. He is now general manager of the dealership, a motorsports fan and previous owner of a Cayman GT4. He said he had just ordered a Carrera 2S for his personal use and did not order S-PASM. In my mind, it was case closed.
      I think that Porsche wanted to provide options that would allow 911 TTS owners to option their cars in a way to bring them more toward a GT track weapon (in effect, a heavier but AWD GT2 RS clone). At the same time, they are delivering a superior sports car experience in their top-of-the-line 911.
      I am very much a sportscar person and a motorsports fan vs. some poseurs who purchase high-performance automobiles but are not performance car enthusiasts, so I was not looking for a boulevard cruiser. My previous 911 was a 2018 991.2 GT3, and driving the new Turbo S on same roads reflects Porsche's injecting GT characteristics into 992 Turbo S. When engaging "sport suspension" via the PDCC button, the chassis stiffens to a point that I would not engage it on good, e.g, well-paved two-lane country roads. It is very GT3-like. And on city streets, S-PASM, like PDCC, would likely be too jarring.
      Prior to the GT3, I had a 2015 991.1 Turbo S and the new one has a lot more substance and character. The 991.1 was criticized for being too quiet; the 992 in Sport and Sport+ modes, or when Sport Exhaust is manually selected provides very satisfying sounds befitting such a sophisticated and powerful engine.
      I think you will absolutely love the new Turbo S. It is a sensational car that is, as so many reviewers have noted, a all-around, daily driver supercar. All the best with yours and a hopefully timely delivery.
      P.S. Apologies for replying to you with RUclips's longest recorded reply to a comment. Cheers!

    Great video as always !! I agree with your comments. I got my 2021 992 Turbo S in racing yellow which helps a lot with the "WOW " factor making it more exciting than a typical silver or black exterior...

    I still prefer the simplicity and size of my 993 but WOW is this car amazing 🤩

    Rumors say that you get a 911 for free if you bring them the desired micro chips for 10 cars.

    Supremely well rounded review covering everything. Others said 992 Turbo brought some excitement back to a car that has been boring, and D’s experience shows NOPE, still boring. Back to a lower model with with a manual! I suspect 95% of females would vote for the Ferrari Roma if asked what they want to be picked up in for coffee, dinner or touring. Here in Denver CO, I think 1/2 of new 911’s are Turbo S, and credit to owners choosing such a wide variety of color schemes, one is certain they are as numerous as they are.

    Really great review. I’m lucky enough to have a 992S. My car has gone up £10,000 due to supply issues. It’s a 2020 992 S with 9000 miles

    Man, so close to a nice spec! Critical miss on the air intakes and mirror bottoms. Not sure if window trim was done either... and the carbon trim is tasteless.

      @@Nugrat1 Lol well if we're gonna be picky, the brakes should have been painted black and the exclusive design wheels in black would have set it off.

    Clive is a lucky chap !. Got more and more into Porsche since I started watching this channel and got to say if I won the lottery and was buying a new car, this would be it. Great spec and love that guards red. Is there room in the garage for one perhaps ?.

    if Lexus figure out how to perfect their infotainment controls, than the Lexus LC 500s cabin would be the finest in the world, if not already....
