What are the numbers on the braking system? Are they like ours or are they different? Luke is 4 or 1 for skipping and so on. Can’t find info anywhere only in Japanese. Just wondering! Thanks
Any idea what weight line he's using? I got a kick out of another channel when the guy "dumps" his reel. Only it looks like he's throwing 65-80lb braid. I bet he didn't have 75yds of line on it.
Much nicer paint job than the cheap-looking USDM version. But, what's the point of being able to cast farther than 100 yards when the spool doesn't have the line capacity?
slx dc or tatula fw 100XSL 60th? ... ultra light lure, very small/tight fishing spot, under 1-2kg fish...dc or T wing?....they recommend tatula sv which is worth much more....this will be only my bc...i am spinning guy...
The spool on the 70 is heavier than the spool on the American 150! However, once spooled with line the 70 is lighter than the 150 because of the amount of line difference. So they did not lighten the spool whatsoever. Actually because they thicken the sides. It added weight.
Its been out a few years in Japan. Its called the TN Trigon. They put that there to keep the lure from tumbling and get longer casts. Im not sure why they havent brought it here yet
Did you come across, what is the weight of new Metanium MGL spool? So many new video's about it, people handing in hands, and nobody said about the weight of this spool.
THE REEL TEST what do you mean, they already made some reels, pro staffers got them, pictures all over, the first video you posted showing a guy took a spool out and put together with old MGL, I wondering WHY NOBODY from the folks who had it in their hands scaled that spool. They would let you do it even at that Yokohama expo.
My friend I'm going to get the new slx xg model because I can't find the xg scorpion dc high gear model plus I'm going to put out on a 7'1" medium heavy lews rod
Lol I got it all strung up along with both Tat Svs, went out twice this weekend to record the video, it was so cold and windy my ears started burning and my go pro started freezing. Im going to try again this weekend.
I have the US version...but I really want this one. I have an offer to trade, my St. Croix Legend X for his JDM SLX. Huge price diffference so it has me leaning towards a no. But I want the reel!
This new reel looks interesting because of the more adjustable DC braking design.I believe few anglers in the United States pay much attention or even take the time to choose any reel they buy for its design features. They buy reels from local vendors and the reel supply is simplified for that reason. Japanese anglers are more concerned with design and performance than the average American bass anglers are. If you ask an American bass angler about any reel or rod in their boat, why they bought their tackle, most really, have no idea except for the price or that a friend bought one and liked it.They can’t tell you much more than that. They don’t know much because they seldom read the directions and specifications that came with the reel. Buying all the models is not cost effective for American venders; because it is much easier to sell a few basic models, I am sure if they wanted to buy more models, Shimano would be happy to provide them to the United States market. There is only a small portion of Bass anglers willing to pay close to a $1,000 dollars for one rod and reel.
Lol. Who do you hang out with that doesn't know what reels they run and why they bought them? Ir are you just generalizing everyone into the same boat as yourself? I dont know many Japanese anglers but I do know tons of American anglers including myself that put a lot of thought into what they buy based on performance and not chrome button caps or not.
@Leopold I believe the reason you dont see alot of people with metaniums is for the same.reason you don't see a lot of folks with Lambos because 1 they are not practical to own, 2 while they can perform on a higher level or have superior parts, the standard option Lews or 13fishing till work just as well for the basics of reeling in a fish fire a fraction of the cost. That's why you see lots of people with Malibus.. the wheels roll you all the way yo.whete you wanna go, they park, they back up they do everything a Lamborghini does with out the cost. It's not that peiple.dont value them.. they do, they just don't feel what they get is worth the extra cost. I'd be willing to take any shimano reel nut up on a fishing tournament. They can pick their supreme reel of choice and ill use my Ardents and Abus and see if they can consistently outcast and out fish me or even anyone else.. people dont buy metaniums cuz the cost versus advantage isnt practical, not because they dont care about quality.
They've always provided a slightly better product to Japan, as it's their home market and Japanese not only expect better, but are up to paying for it too hence why the zodias line up of rods is looked at as cheap and they worry about the performance of a rod in that price range similar to our(US) ~$100 rod category. Also if that was the case, then Shimano wouldn't have made it a big deal to ship products across markets(happened around the time the SLX came out due to the AUS XT model and higher end), but now some shops won't export products in order to not lose their ability to sell Shimano products.
I know this is kind of a tongue in cheek comment but I’m almost positive it’s true. It’s not enormous but there’s definitely a niche market of Americans, myself included, who buy JDM shimano. There’s no way they aren’t aware of that on some level or another.
@@manifestgtr I have an older JDM Daiwa Steez and it is a very sweet reel too. A kid could skip it. I've missed a few Shimano deals, but eventually I'll snag a JDM Shimano Used/NOS...
My slx doesn’t have a hole in the spool either ... and have added ceramic bearings, which helped. And nobody casts like that or usually uses a rod that long . Good reel but over hyped
I don't see why the engineering team would design a totally different model for the US or Japanese market. It's probably just aesthetics. Most of this "JDM is better" is in everyone's head and I doubt you could tell the difference blindfolded. They would not give the USA which is a bigger market worse products.
Just got mine in today. It shipped yesterday from Japan and arrived this morning. Love it
What are the numbers on the braking system? Are they like ours or are they different? Luke is 4 or 1 for skipping and so on. Can’t find info anywhere only in Japanese. Just wondering! Thanks
If you had to choose would you go for the SLX DC 71 or a Curado DC? Already a happy Scorpion DC owner
Would this be good or should I still get a scorpion dc. I like the JDM version of the SLX
That means you need to use braided line.
Dude I fucking put 220 yards of flouro on it
I’m very happy with my SLX DC151 XG!
Are you still planning to get this reel?
If it turns out that the JDM slx dc got a better braking system...my USDM dc is going up on eBay the moment these come out.
slx dc or tatula fw 100XSL 60th? ... ultra light lure, very small/tight fishing spot, under 1-2kg fish...dc or T wing?....they recommend tatula sv which is worth much more....this will be only my bc...i am spinning guy...

@ 3:23 is there a 1/2oz chunk of lead stuck on the front of the lipless crank???
Wonder what total weight of that is?
Its been out a few years in Japan. Its called the TN Trigon. They put that there to keep the lure from tumbling and get longer casts. Im not sure why they havent brought it here yet
What line do you use? how much size
I would like a cranking gear ratio on curado k model...Why Shimano is neglecting slower gear ratios?
What kind of knot he was using to tie the lures?
Do you know in the slx dc 70 spool will fit and work in a slx dc 150 reel? Thank you
I have both JDM and global model and the answer is yes.
Both spools are compatible each other.
I want SLX DC JDM version 😍🇲🇨
are you still planning on getting one of these?
Up
What kind of rod is he using? Looks sleek.
Poison Glorious.. its a JDM model only so if you want one you will have to import it
Where do you prefer to buy your JDM reels?
i just found out the SLX DC 70 size just an hour ago and you upload the video..
i just barely want to email you regarding that... hahahah
Yes Im usually on top of these things lol
@@THEREELTEST i know... thats why im excited when i assume that i knew this before you did.. hahaha
That fool casted and walked back 15 foot (feet) 😂😂😂
That's only 5 yards
I know right? style points I guess
also extra weight was on the lure probably trying to reach 1oz
im still confuse to buying slx dc or 18 ardito ltd ..
They should make a dc in a 300 model so you could make super long casts with the line capacity to really get it out there
Have you done a budget video on the new shimano caius 150?
I hope you make a video on the new conquest dcs, there’s some questions I have that hopefully the video will answer!
what kind of mainline he use ? tell use the detail
Did you come across, what is the weight of new Metanium MGL spool? So many new video's about it, people handing in hands, and nobody said about the weight of this spool.
It hasnt been released yet. Im sure its going to be slightly lighter than the old model, but slightly heavier than the Antares A

Yeah but those guys arent into weighing spools lol. You are going to have to wait until some regular dude gets one and weighs that spool
Why US version doesn’t cast a lure for 106 yards?! Maybe his reel is tuned with hybrid bearings...
That lure was probably 1 oz and I dont think anyone has attempted to max out the US version for distance with a lure that heavy
THE REEL TEST the lure called TN Trigon size 60 weights 18.5g size 70 31g, I guess he used the biggest one.
Where do I get this??
SLX DC 2019 / SLX DC 2020 ?
I looking for long time no see this reel in the many stores in my city.
Will there be a new curado for 2020?
no, I don't think so I've been checking both American and Japanese homepage but nothing about Curado... but who knows?
Do happen to know the knot he was tying on?
Is that made from japan or malaysia?
Both are Malaysian made.
My friend I'm going to get the new slx xg model because I can't find the xg scorpion dc high gear model plus I'm going to put out on a 7'1" medium heavy lews rod
Will that spool fit in the American slx dc???
I have no clue, it hasnt been released for sale yet
I tried and the answer is yes.
Wonderful info... I also saw info on Facebook about a 2020 calcutta conquest dc 100/101 is this true?
EloHamm yes is true !!
Yes its true and expensive!
I don’t like round reel !! If they just change the spool and kept reel size not good !!
Wow 😮 nice one from shimano 😍
I would love to see your review on this JDM SLX (Casting) But then you got to purchase one ....I'm so close myself Lol!
I have both and you should have mentioned knob difference.
JDM knob is thinner than global model.
What knot is he tying there? He's to fast for me to tell.
So what happened to the Steez?
Lol I got it all strung up along with both Tat Svs, went out twice this weekend to record the video, it was so cold and windy my ears started burning and my go pro started freezing. Im going to try again this weekend.
@@THEREELTEST wow!
Chance the spool from the US SLX DC and put the JDM Spool in, works with the 2016 Metanium e's well with the 70 size spool.
It could be possible but Shimano likes to engineer stop gaps between similiar models alot of times.
Does anyone know what rod he was using?
when wil it be available in yhe usa
I emailed Japan tackle and they said reel will be available at the end of April for left hand models right hand Feb

Will you be doing a complete shimano jdm lineup video
Just the ones I thought were interesting, unfortunately there were not that many really good releases this year.
I’ll have to add one to the Metanium order!
How bout running 12 minutes of straight ads with the occasional clip of a japanese dude casting? he he he :)
