I would agree with 99% of what your saying only thing I find is the brake settings on the DC is geared for beginners. 1 for light stuff no wind 2 braid and fluro 3 mono mild wind 4 anything in high winds... pretty dummy proof.
I have 2 SLX DC's and I love them! I cant imagine a reel getting any more smooth. I am looking into getting the Curado K ive heard really good things about it and its pretty much the same price point. Oh and the sound is definitely worth the extra 90 dollars 💯
I like my DC because I dont have to mess with the brakes very much.. change lures and dont have to worry about setting anything for the weight change.. after months of use I think I birds nest mine like twice because I did poor casting and hit the water too soon.. its great especially in windy days too..
I have the SLX XT I love it with my Convergence rod. I don't like the ones that you have to flip open to adjust i find it wears out faster. Shimano and Diawa have the best reels in the market
I just picked up my first SLX the A I am impressed with it backlashed a few times. i put the wrong line on it Debo suggested dropping the line weight and as I suspected he is right worked like a charm!
Lol where was this video two weeks ago when I was trying to make this decision. I ended up going with the SLX so I could get another rod as well, and I can say I'm not sad I made that call the SLX is great! On both my Lews and Shimano I only set the spool tension to where it doesn't shake side to side most of the time anyway. I just adjust the magnetic break for different weight lures and rarely backlash. So I couldn't bring myself to spend the extra money for the reel only.
Mic sounds a lot better! Another great video! Love the honesty! I hunt through most of the winter but I'm thinking about trying a DC next spring. Maybe before then you will have reviewed a few others.
Exactly if you’re right handed you reel with your left and hold the rod with your right. Baitcaster or spinning. Never understood right hand reel unless you’re left handed.
The reason I use right hand casting reels, and spinners on the left is simple. Years back options were not available. Spinning reels had handle on left, and casters on right for majority. That's how I learned and it is still more comfortable to me. No right or wrong in fishing unless you aren't catching fish lol.
In my opinion after using all 3 models, the xt is definitely worth the extra $30, but the dc isn’t really worth it unless you either are beginning to skip, or you have the money and like the sound. I need to try the new slx mgl though, for $150 it looks awesome
I just had a Shimano curado dc hooked up to a favorite phantom fly out of my truck on the highway and get trashed. Well the reel is. The rod made it with just a little bit of road rash on the trigger. I hadn't even got a chance to use it yet.
If you want my opinion on the favorite phantom rod. It'll held up to the incident. With the sock with tip protector. Although, without using it yet. I have a concern about the tip. It seems to be a generic metal tip. No guide insert. Like the rest. I'll have a update once I get to use it.
on dc reels just set your reel to minimizes side to side play and set the number on 2 for braid and don’t change it no matter what bait your using i have a slx dc and curado dc got both basically the same time i fish the slx dc more the slx dc and curado dc both palm for more extremily well and i have average size hands
I love my SLX DC and Scorpion DC. But I have a Daiwa CC80 that was my first baitcaster and it casts farther at times. Who knows, but you gotta love that DC sound.
I love my DC, for me it was worth the $$ to hear that whine. But Shimano quality is always solid. My only issue with them is those side plates are so sensitive to the spool tension. If you open the side plate, make sure you wind the spool tension way down before you snap it back into place. If you don't you might have problems locking the plate (and that sucks when you hook a fish and the side plate pops open and your spool falls on the floor or into the water....
I like the click knobs as well. As my first baitcaster, I really like the dc. Like you said, right out of the box, it was really good, very forgiving. I wanted one that wouldn't piss me off and hate baitcasters forever.
I have all 3 and love all 3 if i have the money id get another dc but just the slx is like you said the best $99 reel on the market the xt the problem i keep having is the spool tension knob comes really loss and ya pretty much back lash
Man great vid and totally agree I started with the $40 black max and I still use 2 of them but I now have a $80 lews and its so much better its unreal man but had to start somewhere thanks man and keep it up!
I hope to own a shimano reel myself one day! Awesome video as always!keep up the great work! Also if your shimano slx reel needs some love I'm more than happy to give it the love that it needs 🤣
Happy to see this video. I have a Mach2, Revo SX and an SLX. As of right now the SLX is my hands down favorite. I’ve been thinking of getting the DC mainly for windy days thinking it will help with over spooling. Strange that it seems like my SLX only over spools on my 6’10” rod. Thanks for the video tho, I’m leaning towards trying it out.
I’m currently Savin up for the slx dc with a st criox bass x rod. I’m only have 20$ so far😂 but I hope I get money during christmas. I’m running out of ways to make money lol
Shimano Curado DC 150 on a st Croix tournament legend bass my go too... 350$ for the reel in Canada .... amazing product but fucking expensive. DC’s are super convenient I definitely prefer

i have 4 slc dc reels i freakin love them man , i did pick up the standard slx yesterday just to see how big of a difference a dc is.. If its not that much of a difference no need to spend the extra 100. i will say though i have used almost every single brand of reel for the most part and nothing yet compares to an slx dc in that price point . yes there are more expensive dc reels but i just dont care to spend anything over around $200.
O agree on the SLX being a reel hard to beat at that price point. I think if your going to do the DC dont go SLX DC because that jump is not worth it. Pay the extra $150 and jump to the carrado dc . It's a much nicer reel over all and you really see a jump in quality and performance. Just my opinion . Hope all is well and have been enjoying the content.
I have the slx I love it. Another great reel in the same price range is the daiwa fuego. Neither have given me any problems and I am very abusive to my gear. I fish 12 months a year in oregon for salmon and steelhead.
I thought about the SLX DC but I read some reviews most of them favorable but they also did say that when that DC chip goes out you have to try to find another one and that might be difficult so I went with the Daiwa tatula SV TW 103 and it's basically a thumbless casting reel and no chip to deal with I do like the real the real comparison videos keep them coming if you look at the Daiwa tatula's against another brand
It's definitely a great reel for the price the only problem I've had with it and this could totally be user error but on the screw on the real handle it got loose after about 3 months so usage maybe a little less and I took it out several times to screw it back in and after a while the screw lock stuff kind of scraped off and one day I was out in my yard practicing my cast and it just fell apart on me a lot of the internal pieces came out not too many not incredibly important ones but I got them ordered they should be arriving soon and I should be back in business but I am out about 20 bucks due to the screw

After ive had my scorpion dc for 2 years and my slx dc for a year, the slx dc is absolute trash compared to the scorpion. The slx backlashes way more, breaking me off way more, frustrating me way more, and thus catching me leas fish. Ive caught three fish on the reel according to my stats and i have 280 on the scorpion dc. Sooooo scorpions ftw
Dang!
SLX DC is a nice real. #Go lefty’s
Heck Yes!
Lefty’s get the best bass !
me gusta el diseño y el sonido de shimano slx DC me gustaría tener uno algún día
Tension knobs don’t click on my curado dc either.
It bothers me lol
Is the slx dc somewhat waterproof or resistance I fish off a paddle board. Might take a quick dip?????
It’d be fine, I beat mine up
SLX is a car with manual transmission, Dc with automatic :)
Dc is like hearing a v8 music to my ears
Slx is so worth it I have it
Nah to both. I'll stick with my cane pole and fish big swimbaits
